In fairness, his only playing time for Oklahoma was in mop-up duty so these fans are likely just being courteous. Still excited about him, though; he was a top recruit in VA just a few years ago.

Highland Springs about to change their mascot to Future Hokies with this many alum on the team.
Was a national top-150, VA top-5 recruit for class of 2021. If nothing else, it shows VT is getting top VA HS talent into Blacksburg one way or another.

French mentioned in another thread that he thought this guy wasnt a great scheme fit. I am super excited about him, but wondering if anyone has intel about that, or if French will weigh in.
Either way, LFG. Love the recruiting push

There are questions about scheme fit and he's been injured most of the time at OU, but he's talented and has 2 years remaining. Is at the very least a much needed depth piece for the next two years if he can stay remotely healthy. And this is another huge victory in reclaiming the state.

I know he only played mop-up duty last year but his high school accolades were something else:
HIGH SCHOOL

No offense to French or anybody else, but this kid is a stud. I'm not worried one bit about scheme fit for a DT on a 4 man front. If he's healthy, he will see the field. 6'3" and 295lbs at DT is a substantial upgrade over anything else we had on the roster.
Also, scheme difference aside, you have to think he got quality instruction and weight training under Venables at OU. This kid now has 8 months to get himself ready to compete for the starting job and at worst significant playing time.
Let's Go!!

I am a little lukewarm on this one. I like that it is a Virginia kid from Highland Springs coming home. But, what little tape he has (most I have seen was from the UTEP game this year) didn't move the needle much for me. It could be a product of what Venebles does (using DL as pawns to keep his linebackers in position to make all the plays), but I didn't see the twitch that I would like to see, and I don't see the thump if you want a big space eater. It may be just a byproduct of what Venebles teaches, but I just didn't see it. I hope I have been wrong (I am a bunch.) See me thinking SMU was the biggest lock on the board besides Kansas vs UNLV and getting my ass kicked on my bets today as result.

IF Gilliam can have an APR-like turn-around season soon, it would create a lot of clout for our staff. One would think the narrative that VA players have the best outcomes at VT would be quite good for recruiting.

More VA kids coming home.
Hell yes!!!
The DBLock going to have an amazing line.
OU Bio
Leaving a Brent Venables defense to come back home should say something.
Damn!
LETS GO!!!!
HOKIES!!!
WELCOME HOME
Damn boiii
Welcome home!
Nice!
Looks like we've got our 4th DT for the rotation. Does anyone know his PFF grade?
He played like barely at all at OU,
Well hopefully they have an idea of how to use him, otherwise he's just depth to allow Emmett Laws to keep his redshirt next year
Lots of Sooner love on his twitter post. Gotta be a good sign as well!

Maybe not, but give me big 4 star type talented guys over small 2 star guys. Hopefully JC can develop him and tap his potential.
Sure, let's try that.
Pry and Co out here righting the wrongs of the 2020 VA class of croots and i love to see it

We're gonna win the conference aren't we?

Our coaches think he's a scheme fit.
One year be the depth rotation piece and learn the scheme/understand his role on each call and one year to be the starting wrecking ball
Aiyo...
AIIIIYOOOO
Damn, this is awesome. Let's go win the ACC next year - ours for the taking.

what did his H.S. film look like?
a bunch of images moving at like 24 per second, lots of grass, so other guys, you know the normal stuff.
Probably bad focusing, some added arrow graphics to point him out...

APR's story is an anecdote. You know what the plural of anecdote is? Data.
