The other portal thread was getting hard to load. Now we can have a VT portal entires, VT portal offers thread and a separate thread to talk about portal overall, argue about "the sport has changed" and other fun topics without bogging down the VT portal thread.

Chris Tyree is transferring from ND to LOLUVA.
THE 2022 Virginia top 15 recruits with most going out of state is seeing high portal entries. Including 4 out of 5 that signed with UNC.
UVA is an interesting choice....
If he's staying at WR he can attempt to fill the shoes of their outgoing All-American. Still, ND to UVA seems odd.
Maybe he wants to play at an "Ivy League" school? /sssssss
Business decision, the same rationale for Tayvion to go to UK after Wan'Dale Robinson. Tyree is going to get a lot of touches there.
Gonna be rough splitting touches with the OL
Lol, but seriously, it's a good get for them. He wouldn't get the volume of catches he wants here.
IMHO, I expect a lot of Glover's kids to end up at UVa. Most of them are WR, RB and CB and want to start immediately. All the guys we already have at those positions are more proven than Glover's kids.
None or "Non"
Before you posted this I was so fucking confused on the title of this thread.
I just do what the apple AI auto correct tells me is right.
And thus we have the death of critical thinking
Critical thinking died in Junior High.
The replies to this tweet are gold.
Are you willing to summarize some of them? I don't have the X
just guessing, as I am not on the Shitter either:
Step one: as a HS coach, encourage your star players to shun Virginia schools in favor of flashy used car salesmen from bigger brand name schools.
Step two: bigger brand name schools don't commit to develop said star players. Star players look to portal to a school where they can play and be well coached.
Step three: HS coaches bitch about how their players are studs and should find homes at VA schools...
Close, but he isn't a HS coach, he runs/ran a 7 on 7 and is a coach/handler there. He's also Tony Grimes' dad
He should know studs don't sign with UNC
7-on-7 "coach," huh?
Streets reference...nice
Wait... where are all these amazing UNC football fans he speaks of??
WTActualF is official like tissue?
I wondered that too. Does he think that "official" and "tissue" rhyme?
That DT from JMU who was blowing up UVA's line is in the portal. James Carpenter. (I think that's who it was. Heard his name on seemingly every play.)
I think Elko was a "smart" hire for A&M relative to what I thought they might do given their track record, but they are losing a lot of those highly rated guys they signed under Jimbo so far. That was to be expected, but it goes to show how spectacularly their "greatest class of all time" has failed. Which again, was not so unexpected. They swung up and out-recruited Bama/UGA for one class... but Bama and UGA recruit at that level every year, so it would always be an uphill battle to win the SEC/NC over them... but they also failed to beat the other teams consistently enough as well.
So not sure how Jimbo recruits, but he seems to under-perform with his rosters. Here's the year, 247 class ranking, and W/L record each year he was head coach (at FSU for historical perspective):
2011: Class 2, 9-4
2012: Class 4, 12-2
2013: Class 11, 14-0 (NC)
2014: Class 4, 13-1
2015: Class 3, 10-3
2016: Class 3, 10-3
2017: Class 6, 7-6
Even though he won a Natty, with consistent top 5 recruiting classes, I would think/expect him to be finishing top 10 each year at the very least, not 3 losses and sinking to 7-6.
Edit: head coach at FL State.
I imagine this is taken out of context, but wow what a quote.
*EDIT - after re-reading that, I'm taking it to mean he has been miserable in the sense that he is not happy....the first time I read it, I thought he was saying he has played miserably and thought "got damn coach!"
Dang, Gundy's son entered the portal to leave OSU.
It's rough out there for a player
Best laugh I've had this morning 😂
spit my coffee out. thanks for that.
"Gunnar Gundy" is almost as dumb as what Bronco Mendenhall named his kids.
Dude was a heck of a baseball player. Played against my son. I watch a lot of OSU games. Have some of Son-in-law's family that play there. Little Gundy never really got as good of a chance from his dad. He was good enough to be QB1 from what I saw. Probably better than Bowman who quite possibly has the worst footwork of a college QB that I've seen.
Florida's Etienne portaling is interesting
Think he and APR were close?
He's not coming here and we don't need him if Tuten stays. I'd bet on Clemson or another SEC school.
Just watched a short interview with MJ Morris (NCSU QB that was winning games). They asked about his decision to enter the portal. He said it was "mutual", however, during the conversation it became abundantly clear that it was not his decision. The coaches told him that "we are going in a different direction at the QB position."
I mean, we all know this is happening, but I have competing thoughts here. (1) This is what the kids wanted, so.... (2) The people who have always had the power still have all the power. The only difference is that now kids get $$.
Well as he went 3-1, he should be able to transfer even if he doesn't get NIL.
( 1 ) it's probably what some of the kids wanted. But here's the thing..the same kids who are actually making $10000 or more on NIL are mostly the same ones who were already getting money from apparel companies, agents, and seedy Boosters under the table. For a guy like Bryce Duke who could clearly be productive somewhere else, the Portal/NIL combo is a good thing. He can go to a lower level and be a big fish in a small pond. For guys like MJ Morris and Kyle McCord, NIL and the Portal can clearly be "weaponized" to effectively force them off a Roster.
( 2 ) largely dead-on. Athletic Departments clearly have input into how, when, and where the collective money is going. Big Boosters can still put pressure on ADs to fire coaches by withholding money. The biggest change is now there is significantly more pressure on smaller donors to contribute to NIL money...its a bizarre concept....rather than let Billion-dollar establishments like IMG, Adidas and Nike furnish the $$$, more private citizens are expected to take on a bigger burden and people seemingly accept this like it makes any sense for them at all.
Here's the most glaring shortcoming of the NIL era....what happens at the end of the road? 98% of these players aren't going to play professionally and even the vast majority of that small portion that do are not going to play long enough to actually accumlate any wealth. The overwhelming majority are going to need to re-enter the workforce when Football is over. And by allowing them to attend 4 different schools in 5 years, we are assuring that whatever chance they had at earning a meaningful degree is nil.
Where is this money going?? Are kids even aware that this is all taxable? I would love a piece of Investigative Journalism to track how this money is being utilized..I have a really strong feeling most people are going to look back some day and wonder what exactly was accomplished by all of this...
Looks like seven states today filed a Federal lawsuit against the NCAA regarding transfer rule and impact on Student Athletes and also asked for an injunction against the NCAA enforcing their rule until after the case is decided.
Article Link
If I read that correctly, the NCAA is being sued because the plaintiffs believe the transfer rules are not liberal enough as they are today, and that players should never sit or get eligibility delayed.
No surprise that north carolina is one of the states
Gilliam in the portal from OU, would be a huge get
Gilliam plz
Someone good at analytics needs to go over last ten years and compare kids who leave state and transfer/graduate/leave football.
signed with OU outta highland springs in the 2021 class. if i'm following it correctly, he's got two more years of eligibility
Listed at 6'8" 325 😳
That is a big boy.
How are his hands? He'd be a hell of a tight end
Rumor out there that uva is looking at him as a wr
You joke, but I just imagine him releasing off the line, knocking a linebacker on his ass then turning and "high pointing" a pass flat footed while a poor CB tries to bring him down.
Shades of Billy Ray
Feeling good, Lewis.
Woody's brother
related to Woody Baron? I was thinking this might be the one we lost to them a few years back.
Edit: I did not see the "Woody's brother" under the initial post. I am an idiot and will start drinking.
Former Hokie commit
ANOTHER VA kid who left the state and nothing came of it.
Brooks coached him when he was at UMD, he probably would know if it's worth pursuing...but pass, don't see why we need UMD castoffs. UVa is turning in to the shelter for broken 4*, he can go there.
Time to buy stonks in corn.
Was this the kid who was supposed to have a million dollar NIL deal at Floriduh or something?
Not sure what his reported NIL deal was, but be was valued near a million. He was/is a Georgia commit.
That was Jaden Rashada, who is now at Arizona State.
Dylan Raoila is the son of former Nebraska and NFL player Dominic. He is considered a top-3 QB and top 10 player in the 2024 class (I believe at one point he was #1 in the rakings on one of the Services). His uncle is a current coach at Neb as well.
In any case, if he does indeed flip, this will be his 3rd Verbal Comittment in 12 months OhState-->Georgia-->?Nebraska.
Makes sense if family is at Nebraska, but I don't remember any Natty talk about Nebraska in any recent history.
Jaden Rashada was that kid. He ended up at Arizona State.
Riley Leonard officially Commits to Notre Dame. This came after it was announced he had already reached NIL Agreements with at least four national brands including Gillette razors. Wonder who influenced those NIL deals?
What sane working person that is not independently wealthy would give their earned money to Notre Dame with this bullshit? What sane person would "donate" their real money when Gillette fucking razors is paying their players? Are there people out there that "donate" money to NFL teams? fucking joke.
It's not "sane". You've said yourself that people in Alabama would rather see the Tide win than feed their kids
maybe just dont expect rationality from sports fans, especially college football fans
Dont remember where I saw this but 70% of Bama donors aren't even alumns. Wild.
And things are so fucking backwards that they will donate money to Bama football while Milroe is paid 7 figures in so called "NIL". Fucking backwards AF.
Where I am lost is how many damn razors is Riley Leonard going to be able to sell?? Why is this a valuable spend for Gillette?
Is the CEO a Notre Dame grad or something??
He is not selling one fucking razor. He is simply being bribed to play for ND with cold hard money. Period. Pay for play.
How does this get through corporate approval at Gillette's level. That is the question I can't get my head around. I do not disagree it is pay for play. I just don't understand why a corporation would spend their dollars with no return. That is not the corporate way.
Simple. hey staff, ND must get to the Champs Sports Bowl. It's vital. They need money to buy a QB. Please sign.
So why don't we do that? Seems easy enough?
Couple thoughts:
1. What is it with ND Quarterbacks and Razor Company deals??? It seems unlikely to be pure happenstance.
2. Riley Leonard doesn't look like he could grow more than a modest peach fuzz if you coated his face in Miracle Grow....why the hell would anyone trust him to sell them a razor?
Again, we can all continue to pretend like these NIL Collectives are truly independent organizations but the truth is that the Athletic Departments are leveraging the Collectives and are really the ones establishing the relationships with these National Brands. Gillette has little to no interest in Riley Leonard---they have interest in having a relationship with Notre Dame Athletics. This isn't NIL....can we just stop calling it that at this point?
Re: 2 - Nah, he just has a damn good Gillette razor, makes his face look that baby smooth.
Do you not buy razors based on the ND QB? I mean I have a beard right now due to Sam Hartman
Judge issued an injunction to allow athletes to play on second transfers. Not sure its a big development as it's only a two week stay.
States are arguing NCAA preventing second transfers violates anti-trust law.
Article here
Grayson McCall commits to NC State
And MJ Morris commits to Maryland
Cuse is doing the damn thing. They could be interesting to watch the next couple seasons.
What a splash for a new coach.
After talking with a VT player's parents, it's becoming more and more obvious that it's all about NIL for most of these kids now unless they are a no shit top three round draft prospect.
Isn't that how it should be though? I mean, I'm asking about the comp in every job interview I step into.
Duke appears to have a portal commitment from QB Maalik Murphy, Texas backup QB this season.
Chef Diaz is cooking.

We need a hating on thread so bad right now
Hmmm, UVA seems to be doing a decent job in the transfer portal this go round. Honestly really surprised at who Tony Elliot has gotten. I know Malik Washington having the year he had probably piqued interest from WRs but still, with the season they had its kinda crazy
There are two ways to look at Loluva. First, is that it's the dumpster fire it always is. Second, their roster is so bad that there is opportunity to play if you are even close to ACC caliber talent.
Like us under Fuente, for UVa it won't matter what they bring in if they don't maintain competitiveness at the line of scrimmage. Right now, I don't see them paying nearly enough attention there
attentionmoneyFIFY
Some decent QBs going to be in the ACC next year.
Yeeeaaaah I'm not down with any program looking to sign this guy
Surprised Liberty didn't make room on their roster.
Bad situation for college kids. 18-20 is a tricky age. You should not associate with 21+ folks because drinking and smoking is illegal and for the folks 21+ they can get in big trouble with folks younger than them, and anybody under 18 is a minor. I believe folks should avoid any and all forms of pornography and this is why, you have no idea who is really of age and who is a minor or who is doing it as an actor vs. who has been trafficked. It's wrong no matter what. I hope this guy wasn't intentionally looking at child porn, especially looking at super young kids. No excuse, it's child porn. When I was in high school the popular girls in 10th-12th grade often had boyfriends in college, I hope they weren't being active. Wife and I are 5.5 years apart, she is older, I was 24 and she was 30 when we met. It's just a bad age range to be 18-20 and want to be in a relationship. Again, avoid any and all forms of pornography. I'm surprised it's not illegal given the amount of underage and trafficked folks involved and often times folks cannot or do not know who or what they are really watching. Not to mention it is wrong and sinful.
https://www.nbcdfw.com/news/sports/ex-florida-qb-jalen-kitna-provides-in...
Here is some context -- there was a plea deal and the images in question did not meet the criteria to be considered child porn
This is a tough situation with significant nuance, i encourage everyone to be mindful of CGs
You should never judge someone based on the charges. They can charge you with pretty much anything, based on very little evidence.
It's the judge and/or jury's responsibility to determine whether someone has committed a crime. Now this guy is going to have to spend the rest of his life with people assuming he's a child predator even though he was exonerated. He's just lucky he didn't have to go to trial and hope that a jury didn't automatically assume he was a monster as soon as they heard the charges, or that he didn't have to rely on their ability to understand how the Internet works.
The concept of "innocent until proven guilty" only exists in the courtroom. It has no bearing on newspapers, the Internet, or public opinion. The more prejudicial the charge, the more this tends to be true, in my opinion.
"They can charge you with pretty much anything, based on very little evidence." - yeah not really. Maybe on TV shows or ACLU propaganda, etc. But they can't charge you with a felony without probable cause. If they do, the magistrate is going to let you right out and drop the charges. They can't charge you with DUI until they prove impairment- again if they do charge you without any evidence or breathalyzer, etc - the charges will be dropped. Are there rogue outliers? sure, but the checks and balances in the justice system largely get it right. The people that scream " I was charged for nothing" - 99% of the time there is more to the story.
Sorry, but you're dead wrong, especially when it comes to Internet crimes. You're relying on a magistrate to understand IP addresses and how peer-to-peer file sharing works. A cop throws a bunch of IT buzzwords at him and he approves the warrant. I have literally seen it happen. The case probably ends up getting thrown out for lack of evidence, but that doesn't stop them from charging you and it doesn't stop the newspaper from publishing your name and home address next to the words "child porn". The paper isn't going to print a retraction when you're acquitted.
Now your wife is divorcing you and you've lost all custody of your kids because you were accused (not convicted) of a crime you didn't commit, and half the people you meet will never believe that you aren't a pedophile for the rest of your fucking life.
Read the article that GGC posted. Dude did not have child porn, but Internet jackasses like you are running around calling him "child porn bro", and he's not even guilty, but guess what the first hit is going to be for anyone that googles him for the rest of his life.
I worked in Federal Law enforcement dude. I am not "wrong"- sorry. And I find it interesting that Kitna plead guilty- for shits and giggles I suppose. or nah, he was coerced by a bad cop I'm sure. Right. I ackowledge that yes, I'm sure you know a nun that was charged with rape- everyone does- but I am talking about law and reality here. Not your friends little anecdote where he is not telling you details. Of course every mayor, city council, police chief in America love to be sued for their cops totally making up charges and going rogue. Yes. that is totally the reality in america.
Trust me, you're wrong on this one. Maybe it is the 1%, but I've seen it happen. I'm not saying the cops were bad, I'm saying you don't need much to get charges filed on this stuff. No one wants to be the judge or prosecutor that lets a molester slide, so they tend to err on the side of "guilty until proven innocent". I don't necessarily have a problem with that, better safe than sorry, right?
My problem is with the rush to judgement before anyone has even set foot in a courtroom. When it comes to certain crimes, accusation = guilt for most people and it's damn hard to shake that stigma, even with an acquittal. This is the sort of accusation that will absolutely burn your life to the ground, even if you're totally innocent. No one can be seen to support you pre-trial or else they look like they're cool with pedos, so they have to throw you to the wolves without waiting for evidence.
OK-I'm wrong, so let's walk through why I am wrong. Lets do it:
1. Bad cop makes up a charge- out of the wind. Makes it up. Hell maybe he has a vendetta against Kitna for missing a pass. Maybe he is a huge gator fan. So nothing is there, no evidence he simply makes it up. He uses fancy IT words on the search warrant to confuse the judge too- let's throw that in. He makes up the charge. Kitna is framed.
2. After the cop files the totally made up charge with no evidence to support it, a judge - maybe another Gator fan or alum- actually signs a felony search warrant. Very easy to get a judge to do that (lol) buy hey, he also has it out for Kitna. Remember- nothing is there. This is made up, no evidence, no paper trail nothing. So after thatm the judge signs a felony search warrant- independent of the bad cop.
3. A prosecutor- probably an ex florida football player mad at Kitna for what he did in the spring game- actually agrees to prosecute the felony case. No evidence remember, he actually agrees to spend resources, his reputation, on prosecuting a case- with what you say is no evicence and made up. Happens all the time.
4. When the charges are filed by the prosecutor a second judge agrees to accept the charges. A hell of a conspiracy here, but happens all the time- play along.
5. At some point, the defendant - who is charged with false charges, executed by a false search warrant, and conspired judges and prosecutors , decides- fuck it, I am going to plead guilty anyway and not fight this made up charge in court.
This is the norm, I am wrong, this happens all the time. Gotcha.
See my post below. I'm not saying they fabricated evidence or that there was any malpractice on the part of law enforcement or the courts; I'm saying that there are a lot of parents walking around right now with pictures on their iPhone that would be considered child porn, and they probably don't even realize it.
Well that depends on the state. As I said there is a huge difference between child pictures and child porn. This law has been contested to the supreme court, BTW and the federal statute at least is clear. I can say with very very high confidence, nope most parents do not have actual child porn on their phones. Words have meaning. In the statute- it states things like "posed", "proactive" "sexual". 99.9% of innocent bath tub pics of toddlers are not child porn. Seriously. That is not reality. In europe, pre-teens, teens, etc walk around beaches topless. If they are photo'd throwing frisbees, etc. That is NOT child porn according to the federal statute. The nuance would be if they are posing proactively topless or being paid to pose that way.
Just to add a little detail, let's just say that the majority of parents I know have taken a pic of their kids being cute in the bathtub or splashing around in a kiddie pool without a diaper on. That's technically possession, and if you sent it in a text or photo stream to Grandma, that's possession with intent to distribute. Are you going to be found guilty in court? Probably not unless the judge is a complete asshole, but like I said before, the paper is still going to print that you were arrested for 5 felony charges of child porn possession with intent to distribute right next to your home address.
This is an ENTIRELY different argument, which I won't argue. Yes, child porn charges carry a stigma- as they should if they are legit. I never argued otherwise. However, under the federal statute for a felony- diaper pics, topless beach pics of children etc do NOT apply to "porn"- it has a real definition, believe it or not.
The flip side is true also -- what DA plea bargains away five child porn felonies and what judge would allow the accused to move forward without registering as a sex offender if it was as obviously true as you're making it sound
There's obviously nuance here and anyone asserting they know everything is most likely wrong
I have not opined on the specific contents of Kitna's computer. I have only outlined the real life process and dismissed the fake conspiracy angle. Why? I have filed many felony search warrants before. They are very, very, very tough to get signed. and zero get signed with "no evidence". Fact. not opinion.
Fair enough, my initial statement may have been overstated. That being said, the definition of what is considered pornography has changed in the last 2 years. They are cracking down on pics that would not have been previously considered grounds for a warrant. I won't get into the politics of it, but there are a lot of folks out there who ran for office on a campaign of "protecting the kids" and the hot button topics of that last 2 years centered around children and protecting them from dangerous ideas. This has resulted in a directed campaign of increased enforcement. Not everywhere, but in some states, Virginia being one of them.
You are correct about that. And some laws vary by state. To my knowledge though, there are still thresholds- however subjective- to classify for "porn" charges- adult or child, btw. Producing adult porn is illegal in some states without a license, etc.
In this case the threshold was "visible genitals" = porn, regardless of context. Will it result in a conviction, probably not (still TBD), but this dude is still going to have to spend the rest of his life trying to convince people he's not a monster, and a lot of folks won't believe him.
This was a lot more time spent on TKP talking about child porn than most probably anticipated. Sorry for kicking over the anthill but, like I said, I've seen a guy get his life burned down over a mistaken accusation, and the rush to judgement on these things sucks. I can't speak for the Florida QB, he could be a total perv, but I've seen it happen.
you put quotes around "no evidence" but what VTACC99 actually said was "very little evidence" and there is a key difference.
perhaps, in this case, the "evidence" was apparently enough to justify charges but did not actually meet the criteria for conviction
Fair enough. but evidence is evidence. And in Florida, there are still checks and balances that color my opinion- like a real search warrant being signed and the threshold for that being very high- a fact.
we're not all that far removed from the Shai McKenzie arrest and plea deal -- reverse the particulars and turn it digital and i think that's more likely the realm of what we're discussing
refresh my memory... what was that specific situation? drugs in a car that weren't his or something?
https://bleacherreport.com/articles/2385199-shai-mckenzie-virginia-tech-...
So having sex with a 14-year-old is a misdemeanor, but taking pictures of it is a felony? Doesn't that seem a little backwards? Like if taking her picture nude is a crime, shouldn't actually sleeping with her be a worse crime?
Where is legitimate statutory rape a misdemeanor?
In Virginia, apparently, according to the linked article. McKenzie was charged with misdemeanor contributing to the delinquency of a minor for banging an underaged girl. Maybe it was the 15-year-old, but either way that girl wasn't old enough to vote.
He wasn't charged with statutory rape- lucky for him- in VA, that is in fact a felony.
For sure, I think there's an age cutoff for statutory rape in VA, apparently it's either 14 or 15. Same thing happened with Marcus Vick, he got a misdemeanor charge as well for sex with a minor. Don't recall how old she was and don't really want to google that at work, lol.
Relevant Virginia laws;
For under 13 its under the general rape laws
§ 18.2-61. Rape.
(iii) with a child under age 13 as the victim, he or she shall be guilty of rape.
B. A violation of this section shall be punishable, in the discretion of the court or jury, by confinement in a state correctional facility for life or for any term not less than five years; and in addition:
1. For a violation of clause (iii) of subsection A where the offender is more than three years older than the victim, if done in the commission of, or as part of the same course of conduct as, or as part of a common scheme or plan as a violation of (i) subsection A of § 18.2-47 or § 18.2-48, (ii) § 18.2-89, 18.2-90, or 18.2-91, or (iii) § 18.2-51.2, the punishment shall include a mandatory minimum term of confinement of 25 years; or
2. For a violation of clause (iii) of subsection A where it is alleged in the indictment that the offender was 18 years of age or older at the time of the offense, the punishment shall include a mandatory minimum term of confinement for life.
The mandatory minimum terms of confinement prescribed for violations of this section shall be served consecutively with any other sentence. If the term of confinement imposed for any violation of clause (iii) of subsection A, where the offender is more than three years older than the victim, is for a term less than life imprisonment, the judge shall impose, in addition to any active sentence, a suspended sentence of no less than 40 years. This suspended sentence shall be suspended for the remainder of the defendant's life, subject to revocation by the court.
For statutory rape (13 and up):
The first statute (§ 18.2-63) deals with carnal knowledge of a child age 13 or 14.
The second statute deals with someone 18 years of age or older having sex with someone age 15, 16, or 17 years of age, which is a class one misdemeanor and punishable with up to one year in jail and a $2,500.00 fine.
§ 18.2-63. Carnal knowledge of child between thirteen and fifteen years of age.
A. If any person carnally knows, without the use of force, a child thirteen years of age or older but under fifteen years of age, such person shall be guilty of a Class 4 felony.
B. If any person carnally knows, without the use of force, a child thirteen years of age or older but under fifteen years of age who consents to sexual intercourse and the accused is a minor and such consenting child is three years or more the accused's junior, the accused shall be guilty of a Class 6 felony. If such consenting child is less than three years the accused's junior, the accused shall be guilty of a Class 4 misdemeanor.
In calculating whether such child is three years or more a junior of the accused minor, the actual dates of birth of the child and the accused, respectively, shall be used.
C. For the purposes of this section, (i) a child under the age of thirteen years shall not be considered a consenting child and (ii) "carnal knowledge" includes the acts of sexual intercourse, cunnilingus, fellatio, anilingus, anal intercourse, and animate and inanimate object sexual penetration.
§ 18.2-371. Causing or encouraging acts rendering children delinquent, abused, etc.; penalty; abandoned infant.
Any person 18 years of age or older, including the parent of any child, who (i) willfully contributes to, encourages, or causes any act, omission, or condition that renders a child delinquent, in need of services, in need of supervision, or abused or neglected as defined in § 16.1-228 or (ii) engages in consensual sexual intercourse or anal intercourse with or performs cunnilingus, fellatio, or anilingus upon or by a child 15 or older not his spouse, child, or grandchild is guilty of a Class 1 misdemeanor. This section shall not be construed as repealing, modifying, or in any way affecting §§ 18.2-18, 18.2-19, 18.2-61, 18.2-63, and 18.2-347.
If I recall correctly, Marcus had a video tape of the girl saying she was 18 that was introduced as evidence. That is what got them off. It is bad news if you have to card your date.
This is not directed at your comment - but this whole back and forth on this topic -
Holy shit, peak off-season hit quick
LOL, the bowl game is over man.
what else am i supposed to do after two weeks off... work??????????????????????
Seriously, this giant stack of work I should be doing can wait, I need to spend an hour on TKP not talking about anything related to Virginia Tech athletics.
My saving grace is that everyone else in my team was also off so we're all in the same "wait, where exactly do we stand on all of this again?" mode
Not to mention it is wrong and sinful.
Some of us would rather laugh with the sinners than cry with the saints.
And more (most?) of us don't come to Hokie sports sites to be preached at about the morality of content which is explicitly legal. Debating legality of a thing tends to fall within CGs. Bringing up sinfulness is explicitly outside the CGs.
again, there's nuance since the discussion started around a context that was ostensibly explicitly illegal (ha yikes)
but i agree with you and that's why i chimed in above reminding folks to try and keep it inbounds. i think all the subsequent conversation brought most of the discussion to a halt anyway
Bingo. The OP made some interesting and good points, until religion was brought into it.
Yeah if I am a player and Trent Dilfer starts losing his shit on me, I can't take that clown seriously under any circumstances. You just signed a kiddie porn kid, bro- to be the face of your program. Now get the fuck out of my face for missing a read.
Yeah so much for that nuance thing
Nuance- pics of underage girls. my bad.
maybe it was a calvin klein ad
Well shit, this thread went down a rabbit hole I wasn't expecting
😶
One deep rabbit hole. I thought I was going to have to break out the tennis racket again.

Most shocking portal news to date! Who woulda guessed it!?
Odds he winds up at Louisville?
Need to check his pops Twitter, see who he's pimping at the moment
Just saw it's Michigan State.
Interesting choice.
kind of a sad situation in my opinion, any time I see this many transfers in this short of time it seems the kid is getting bad advice from someone.
Someone - being his dad/handler. Really is a shame
I am 800% surprised
pssssttt. Tony.... you can't play. You stink. Go get a job
Would fit in perfectly at UVa with the other 4* busts.
Dad would never let that happen. No NIL there for him to keep profiting off his kid
Bibberty gets blown out and now loses their QB....double clown town frowns for the cult.
I don't really go onto the recruiting sites much, so I have to ask if that NIL value thing is just On3 or are the other sites starting to put a number on these guys as well.
Believe it's just an On3 thing
Just On3 for now but if it helps them make money than I imagine 247 will eventually go there too. Not sure how On3 capitalizes on using the data so not sure if it would be of value to the other services.
LMAO- the average american- vast majority could not tell you what State Liberty University is in. Yet his yearly ad revenue - that's what NIL is, correct? Is 271K. Fucking joke on all levels.
1) I think a lot of Americans are interested in Jerry Falwells University
2) I take that NIL estimate of how much he is worth some place else. His play will elevate the team and make more watch because of him.
This - at least from on3's perspective - is incorrect. On3 considers roster value and brand/endorsement value, and adds them together to get their NIL valuation.
Did the kids that played on Jan 1 get an extension for the Jan 2 portal closure? The Liberty QB and the 8 Bama players all entered after the 2nd. Assume so, but hadn't seen it anywhere.
Maybe they put their names in on the 2nd and it did not get reported until the next day? just guessing
He really 4* worthy?
Apparently the cult coughed up more cash as Salter withdrew from the portal today.
"the cult"
Please stop. It's a loaded word, with overt, negative religious meaning. I have many family and friends leading normal, happy lives that have attended LU. Bash LU all you want for the stupid things they occasionally do, but please don't use this type of dangerous hyperbole. I have investigated a cult and arrested its members as a Special Agent of the federal government. It's not a cult.
Correct, and as a federal investigator you also know that it is no coincidence that every major religious cult ever are/was led by a pedophile (s). Fact. no coincidence that these freaks use "god" to have sex with 12 year old girls.
🙄
I'll gladly call them a cult just like I call anyone associated with Texas A&M a cult. And this fanatical circling of the wagons over the splitting of hairs of terminology when describing them isn't helping with thinking Liberty is the Scientology of universities.
I lived in Clearwater, FL for 3 years. Ran into David Miscavige once. He looked at me like he was going to kill me. No hyperbole. Now, I wasn't scared as he is as big as an Umpa Loompa, but if looks could slowly carve one up with a dull, rusty, jaded knife into little pieces, that was it.
His look was pure evil. Also, Scientologists are full blown nuts and way beyond what anyone may think, believe or know about Liberty.
Scientology took on the IRS and won. I wouldn't mess with them.
No doubt. A very scary group.
Should've asked him where Shelly is
C'mon now, Liberty has earned their reputation. You can take offense to the term "cult" given the religious connotations, but we both know that's not what people on this board are referring to when talking down on the school.
We should probably all move on
I would just like to know, from your perspective, where the line is with Liberty. I know we have a hard line about not discussing politics or religion when it comes to this site, but Liberty, and those who run the school, have made their religious and political beliefs such a part of their identity that it is very difficult to talk about them without it coming up. At the very least, its impossible to talk about them, and talk the same levels of shit about them like we do with any other school without someone taking a defensive stance for either religious or political reasons on otherwise innocuous posts. And, to be clear, ignoring them isn't exactly an option here because we're talking about a school and a fanbase that often tries to actively insert itself into discussions about Virginia Tech because they want to use our profile and platform us to better themselves. You see it all the time on social media (just check out any random VT mention and its there) and from the statements of their coaches and players. They're going out of their way to earn the shit talking and hate that we should be giving them.
i guess i know it when i see it?
Liberty on its own is a CG lightning rod and probably the single topic that is most difficult to moderate on here.
in this case, specifically, comment by comment:
basically, we have one commenter saying "hey guys, that's kind of tired because of reasons" and then a bunch of people replying effectively saying "lol get it over it" -- that easily turns into a pile-on and easily turns into a fight. I don't really like that and i'd like to think we're better than that as a community
edit to clarify and expand: the replies actually range from "lol get over it" at best to "you're kinda part of the problem" and "what about religious connection to pedophilia? hmmm???" at worst. it's just a weirdly bizarre composite community response to "Hey stop generalizing"
If you gotta post a page long anecdote , lock the thread and move on. Will just save a lot of frustration
Damned if i do, damned if I don't
Bama has had 7 former Top100 recruits hit the portal. When are the kids going to learn that only 22 players get on the field and maybe they won't beat out a depth chart full of 4 and 5 stars. Looking at you Chris Cole.
Probably not ever.
The Transfer Portal had made it essentially risk-free.
And ESPN and Fox have made it clear they they are generally interested in showcasing the same 6-8 programs while ignoring everyone else.
If and only if the NFL stops drafting literally every Bama player with a pulse in the top 4 rounds of the draft. On that day, Bama stops picking and choosing whomever they want and not a moment before. So it will likely take- 1. Saban retiring, 2. Them being hit with sanctions. 3. They make a terrible hire like a Billy Napier or Rich Rod. 4. They stop large scale cheating.
Remember when people were mad that we didn't get Billy Napier?
yes- I never liked that guy. I think there are 50 of him out there. That's why he won't win big at Florida.
I would have been fine with him, but it would have been a lot like the Fuente hire, safe. He is the hot name. That didn't work out for us last time and it's not working for UF so far.
How long will Napier be there? This is the second straight year with a losing record. Last year they ended 6-7 with a bowl loss, this year they didn't get to go bowling. Are the high buyouts actually forcing UF to have some fiscal responsibility finally?
Who knows, but once UF got involved it really looked like he was not the guy people thought.
I dont know how much money UF has or what his buyout is, but his teams don't look prepared to play. He isn't recruiting any better than Mullen. He did switch up the S&C department after everyone said UF was weak. So atleast he is making changes. But right now I'm not sure I could point to one thing he has done well. There is nothing the build on.
His 2024 class has two 5-stars and nine 4-stars, only 18 commits. 8th in the country by average, 16th overall bc the class is so small. One of 8 schools to have multiple 5-stars in 2024. Lost a potential third 5-star to Texas, but a lot of recruitniks say that guy is overrated.
On3 has the average recruit at 90.77, which is 9th. His 2nd 5 star isn't consensus 5 star by all the services.
Mullen's last class was 12th at 90.19. He had one 5 star and 14 4 star recruits. In 2020, Mullen was 9th at 90.40 with one 5 star and 17 4 star recruits.
Mullen brought in 31 4-star recruits in 2 years AND had two 5-star players in there.
Also to compare 2024 VT, we are 3.8 points above our 2021 class and 3.7 above our 2020 class. That's 10x the improvement.
I don't think anyone was 'mad' we didn't get him, but thought it would've been a big hire. I still think he can turn it around at Florida.
Mad is maybe a strong word, but a few people were vocal that they thought we got big-dogged by Florida and had to settle for Pry who didn't have head coaching experience. Some were openly critical of Whit for dropping the ball on Napier. Time will tell the tale, but thus far it looks promising.
Apparently they had nine players go in the portal on Wednesday morning.
Article I read said nine players went in in a 15 minute span on Wednesday morning.

Wonders what this has to do with the portal...
Would have been perfect if he transferred to Penn St.
Not portal, but non-VT recruiting news.
Wherever this kid lands, broadcasters are going to be in hell trying to call his name when he makes a play
This made me laugh so hard. I can't believe this is a kids real name. I have never seen it in my life. The fact he is going to be on TV makes it so much better.

UVA got a commitment from New Mexico St QB Gavin Frakes....
Let the memes begin....
They found him?!?!
EDIT: Ignore me, thinking of someone else. I wonder what all the Colandrea for Heisman Hoos think about this
Gavin Frakes anagrams to Fake Ravings which is what's going on over at le sabre
God I fucking hate Pitt football. Hate.
Ever since they had that QB that hadn't thrown an incomplete pass since high school, right?
Yes among other things: no fucking fans at their games, VT makes their running backs look like Heisman candidates, they lose to an FCS team and beat VT the next week, etc. etc.
we consistently made rod fucking rutherford look like a heisman winner
FTFY kinda:
Alabama transfer QB Eli Holstein has committed to Pitt AS A TIGHTEND??? /s sorta ?
maybe after we play them next.
I have confidence that Elliot will still be able to do less with more.
Transfer rankings are really uninterpretable. It does not take into account losses via the transfer portal and the ratings for incoming players is a crapshoot. Many transfers do not get rankings right away, and if/when they do, it's not based on any true evaluation unless they were a key contributor on a P5 team.
For instance, how good is that QB on Alabama that transferred to Pitt? He was 4-star 0.9581 rated top 100 composite out of HS class of 2023 but he's still green and didn't get on the field in 2023 when Alabama was looking for anyone to step up in the QB room. He transfers as a 3-star with a 0.8800 rating. Is that accurate? No idea, and honestly, nobody knows.
That said, some ACC teams look to be doing well in the portal. UL, NCST, SMU, Cuse, and FSU seem to be the portal winners. Mixed bag for pretty much everyone else (some significant losses, some good acquisitions) except Clemson, who still does not play in the portal (no gains, a few non-major losses). Stanford also has zero incoming transfers.
I kinda feel the opposite...
So? Recruiting rankings don't take into account graduates/players leaving to get drafted. It's not meant to be a measure of team talent, it's meant to be a measure of just incoming talent.
It definitely takes transfers time to get updated, but I think the rankings are usually a pretty accurate indicator of future success. Moreso than recruit ratings.
Edit to address the example you gave (which was a great example, and really helped to clarify your point):
So, I think it starts with understanding 247's rating system:
So basically, 247 is saying that before college, they thought this guy was a likely first round draft pick. Now, they think he has 'pro potential,' but likely won't be a first round pick, but could still be a solid contributor.
IMO, it helps to think of 247 grades as a likelihood of an unknown future result instead of like a grade on a past test.
OK....
Yet, it's called transfer rankings and if one clicks on 247 transfer page and it shows both the incoming and outgoing transfers. The actual ranking does not paint a picture of how a team did in the portal, because, as you noted, it is a measure of only incoming talent.
And while it would make no sense to compare graduating collegiates/NFL departures with incoming high schoolers, it does make sense to compare collegiate portal transfers incoming with portal transfers outgoing. It doesn't matter if a team brings in top talent if that team loses more top talent than it gained (*looking directly at Pitt, UNC, Duke, and GT*).
This was not my point. My point is that 247 and every other site is given the impossible task of evaluating players that never played (or played sparingly) or played for a G5/FCS program that doesn't have a lot of film. Further, they are cranking out these evaluations in a matter of days of 1000 players.
Were VT rankings from 2023 accurate? Stone Snyder 0.8700 and APR 0.8600... Yes, this a cherry pick, but further shows the point that these 2 players which either didn't get much playing time or came from a lower tier program were not ranked well. Drones was 0.8800, Lane 0.8800, Felton 0.8900, Tuten 0.8900, Canteen 0.9000, Frady 0.8600, and Jennings 0.9200. All probably fine, or close enough.
Reranking based on 2023 play (yes, this hindsight bias), I would rank APR .9300; Drones 0.9300; Tuten 0.9100; Lane 0.8900; Canteen 0.8900, Felton 0.8800, Frady 0.8500, Snyder 0.7800 or incomplete, and Jennings incomplete, but it looked like he was going to meet or exceed that 0.92 rating.
My point is that it isn't that useful of a metric because it only paints half a picture and does so fairly poorly (due to constraints, not a lack of effort).
In addition to Bar's comments above, I think On3 actually does attempt to take into account roster losses vs additions in their team transfer rankings. I hear what you're saying though, the player ratings do feel like a crap shoot.
Good call. Looking at it briefly, it looks like a much better metric. Thanks!
And it reflects that UL and NCST are killing it, which they are. For all the talk about VT and 2024, people need to give credit to those 2 schools based on incoming portal additions.
Cuse, SMU, Cal, and BC are going to be better too.
Don't sleep on the bees, either (more for general improvement, not specifically the portal). VT might be pretty good next year, but the ACC might have quite a few teams playing better football than they did in 2023.
Except the Hoos, of course.
GT is a team on the rise. They unfortunately have had some key departures that are not fully replenished by the additions. Not a significant net-portal gain for them.
They do have a good QB and RB to build around. And I think they will improve in 2024, but it will not be because of the portal (at least from a macroscopic view).
They had our transfer class rated much higher than the other services last year since we had most players transfer out to a lower tier of football and the transfers in mostly turned out to be P5 caliber. It makes for an interesting look at how teams utilize the portal, but just like with class rankings it gets weird with really large or small classes.
Looks like Clemson fans are sick of Swinney not using the portal. /s
Report is a pick up basketball game got a bit rough.
I thought maybe the Gatorade cooler got him.

That deserves a Pulitzer prize. The action, the angle, the timing, the emotion captured, the way the Gatorade splashes, the orange color of the Gatorade and sweatshirt juxtaposed, the double chin. It's art. Well done photographer.
Nathan Ray Seebeck, he's definitely worth a follow if you insta.
oh wow. Nice. You're full of good information! (this is two for two today with the links today)
One hell of an "O" face.
Don't know about their ranking system, etc. I do know that that QB from NM State sucks. Can't play dead in a western.
Yeah, get real he was a backup at NM State for God sakes.
247 had APR as a .86 coming into VT. They don't know shit about dick about transfers.
Miami gets QB commit out of the portal.
Reese Poffenbarger out of Albany.
Anagrams to Beeper offers Anger...
Reece's Poffs
This will be WILD if it works out. Dude was originally a walk-on at ODU, but left because the coaching staff thought he was too much of a "gunslinger" and didn't stick to running their offense. Went to Albany and lit up lower level play. He is very cocky. If he works out, Miami fan will absolutely eat it up. Odds on that happening?
Sounds like a perfect fit for Miami.
I'm fine with cocky Miami players. It makes it more fun when we set sack and turnover records against them.
Tell the U athletic trainers to pack extra tampons and ice packs.
It just means more
Will be interesting as well since Taulia Tagovailoa is entering the transfer portal and his family indicates (at least from the article) that they want him close to them in Miami....sooooo....
But of course he does need to get an approved waiver to play a 6th year.
https://247sports.com/article/maryland-star-qb-taulia-tagovailoa-enters-transfer-portal-224673596/
(not behind paywall)
This should get denied within seconds. The rules are very clear.
He requested it a week ago, so its been more than a few seconds
Keyword- SHOULD. They have proven they are idiots time and time again.
It seems that the process recently has been thus:
1) NCAA tries to enforce any rule regarding transfer/eligibility
2)Public/fanbase outcry about how "unfair" it is to the "poor student athlete"
3) Threat of lawsuit
4) NCAA caves
See Walker, Tez whose mental health was soooo improved by being able to play Football at UNC that he bolted to the NFL at the first chance.
Taliua will be a Hurricane next year.
The "new" Rule on Eligibility is essentially going to be thus: You get to play until no one wants to pay you anymore.
NCAA won't be around much longer then. We are going to have 30 year old men getting their 9th degree for free to play football in college.
They might add an addendum that eligibility expires if you also qualify for Social Security but that might get controversial too.
Seriously, though, the problem is that the power in CFB now lies with TV Network money that is dependent upon the success of their chosen conferences and teams. If Alabama needs a DT transfer, it doesn't matter what would disqualify them from an eligibility standpoint, it's gonna happen because it's good for the bottom line.
The only reason that this Taulia issue has taken any time at all is because Miami isn't in a "chosen" conference (yet) but the TV execs will quickly realize that Miami has enough market value to make this happen.
This is what CFB has become and its not getting better.
My co-worker had an interesting idea remove the whole 5 to play 4, whatever. Put in an age cap of 26. After 26 years old you have expired your eligibility. That way you don't have to worry about full grown adults hitting 17 year old kids.
Cap it at age 24 (at the start of the season). BYU might complain, but average undergrad walking on graduation Day is 22.
The Tez Walker situation should get way more attention than it does. His opening line in his argument about why he deserved to play for UNC this year was that, being from Charlotte it was always his dream to play near home in college. He opts out of the one game UNC has where they would be playing in Charlotte, completely invalidating his entire argument on why he should have been eligible.
Also did anyone else notice how the 4 year Mississippi State QB was taking warmup reps for Washington last night? He was the MSU starting QB this year!
What's the problem here? Fall semester is over and he transferred.
UNC played South Carolina in Charlotte in the first game of the 2023 season.
Tez was still ineligible, and I believe it was before he wrote his letter
A 100% Meh WR and JMU not playing in a bowl are fucking national security issues/travesties
5 to play 5.... his experience will help Washington.
Am I the only one old enough to have this immediately pop into my head when I saw this guy's name?
Yes, I am. Now get off my lawn.
Those characters were so cringy, used to give me the creeps as a kid. Then with my kids it was the Doodlebops and Yo Gabba Gabba. Just gets stranger and stranger...
Teletubbies would like to join your club...
Yea them, the Power Rangers and Barney too but thankfully that was a couple years before my oldest was born.
He can't do a little, cause he can't do enough....
Which reminds me gentlemen...don't smoke crack!
Especially if you need a friend when things get rough 🤪🤣
Cameron Ward, Washington QB, has pulled away from NFL draft and committed to Miami today
May we introduce him to the law firm of Nelson, Peebles, Fuga, and Powell-Ryland quickly and repeatedly.
Random: he's Drones' cousin, and the two have trained together a good bit.
Washington state QB
This is a first. I've never seen a player withdraw from the draft in order to worsen his draft rating. Does he not know what happens when you put on that Miami uniform?
If he's smart, he shows out in September, then opts out for the draft on Oct 1.
Miami is probably offering comparable money or better money than mid late round draft pick.
for 1 year... Doesn't seem like a wise investment. How is TVD doing? He went from a potential day 1 or 2 to a day 3 or udfa.
Official like Tissue
I gotta admit, I'm kinda over the whole "Tony Grimes needs attention" bit.
Not sure who Tony Grimes is.
That's a choice
Tony Grimes is always going to do what Tony Grimes thinks is best for Tony Grimes.
Have to admit, this sideshow is perfect for Vegas
This is disrespectful to vegas. I love that place.
my 6 yr old is dying to go to Vegas. he keeps bringing it up, asking about going. i am very curious what type of videos he has stumbled across on youtube to make him want to go there so badly
Go for march madness. Sit in a room with a bunch of TVs and just bet. Get him involved in the betting. Teach him about statistics and probabilities.
Vegas is a magical place.
getting a 6 year old involved in gambling sounds like a phenomenal way to mess him up imo
My comment was meant to be quite a bit tongue-in-cheek, but, clearly that didn't come through.
I will say, if one of my kids comes to like math and sports, I'd lean in; explain SP+, how spreads work, spend some money each weekend. But they won't be there at 6.
Remember Billy, only lemons lose money gambling. You're not a lemon, are you?
Do they allow kids in the sports books in Vegas (or anywhere)?
Most casinos let you walk through only. He definitely isn't allowed to sit in any sports books.
Vegas is not a place for children.
Kids can walk through almost any open space. I've seen kids at the sports book at the Bellagio before. It's just a bunch of TVs and chairs/couches. It's not unlike going to a restaurant that serves booze and has TVs everywhere. But obviously, they're not allowed to place bets.
Circa is cool because it is 21+ to enter the casino. I am on year 16 of the annual trip for the conference tournaments in March. It is the gamblers paradise with all the basketball that is on. I am an MGM loyalist but had a great time at Circa last year.
I went to stadium swim at Circa last year, and I was blown away. Amazing experience.
ha! i mean, he does love math, he is actually really good at it...but i was thinking more along the lines of circus circus for his first trip there :-)
Counting cards is where it's at. They won't be made if he loses it on craps afterwards. Just a 7 year old rolling dice with a big fitted woman blowing on them for good luck. I mean I'm pretty sure it's every casino's dream.
fitted? looks like GGC got into your autocorrect.
I keep trying to find a picture of a kid staring at big fitties, but all of them violate the NSFW policy
I hope he enjoys being the second best DB on his team.
is 757EliteDB his handle? If so, he needs to give that back. 757JourneymanDB fits better at this point.
His fake UNC classes didn't transfer to MSU, that's why he's going to UNLV to be coached by Fuente castoffs.
did we ever get an explanation on what "official like tissue" means? It makes no sense.
Did Papa Grimes just combine "soft like tissue" and "official like a ref with a whistle"?
According to Urban Dictionary it means "Papa Grimes is a dumbass".
But really, "official tissue" means "the best" somehow.
Damn, this poor kid.
Ok Mitch, let's take a Brinks truck to Tuscaloosa and bring this guy in to solve that OT deficiency.
NIL Truck has hopefully been dispatched.
I'm like 99% sure all of these bama kids know exactly where they're going when they enter the portal.
And evidently it's fsu
I think this one is actually Iowa which is a wild card
Hometown team?
He originally committed there out of HS.
My original point was I'm sure every bama player has heard from team xyz and are very aware of where they can/will land before they enter the portal
Florida State now has 14 transfer portal commits. 10 are former 4* but that's currently only good enough for the third ranked class. Louisville is 4th with five 4* and 21 3*. NC State is 9th. California is 20th. That's it for ACC in top 25.
Texas A&M is tops but mainly for having more. They have eight 4* and thirteen 3*.
Other ACC rankings
Miami 27th
SMU 28th
ND 30th
UVA 39th
BC 40th
Pitt 43rd
Duke 46th
UNC 49th
GT 52nd
VT 61st
WF 62nd
Stan 88th
Never going to get used to this.
As previously referred by MaxandCheese, the On3 metric includes incoming and outgoing. It's a little bit better as it shows how the team faired overall in the portal. Their rankings do not include G5 though.
Their rankings are as follows:
1. Louisville
4. FSU
7. Cal
8. NCSU
11. 'Cuse
14. ND
15. Miami
18. BC
20. SMU
24. Pitt
27. UVA
34. VT
45. WF
50. Stanford
60. UNC
61. GT
63. Clemson
67. Duke
Notably, by their metric in last place is Alabama at 70th.
Brohm proving it takes 10 years to win, and you can never fire your coach after he sits the bed against the G5 - too risky. I mean look at how long it is taking Brohm to get any players at Louisville.
So who is going to transfer out of Ohio State first from the QB room?
Next year they will have Alabama transfer 5* Julian Sayin
Kansas State transfer Will Howard
4* Freshman Air Noland, 57th in Class of 24
Redshirt Sophomore 4* Devin Brown, 44th in Class of 22
Redshirt Freshman 4* Lincoln Kienholz, 138th in Class of 23
Crowded room so have to figure two or three leave. Will Howard has to be pissed they took the commitment from Sayin after bringing him in when Stroud left.
not stroud, kyle mccord
but that's the new environment. load up on top tier talent knowing that they aren't restricted from moving and let the chips fall how they fall
The Sayin situation was unexpected, but I'm sure it caused a few reactions from that room. Air Noland is in the same class, Devin Brown and Kienholz are ahead of both of them in terms of years in the program.
However, I think Will Howard is probably the least worried of these guys. He's almost certainly guaranteed to start from the outset of the season. If one of these guys is way ahead of schedule I could see him losing the job, but Air Noland and Sayin probably both want to develop their bodies a little bit as opposed to being straight out the gate true freshman starters. Howard was brought in so they wouldn't have to waste a season if one of the younger QB's in the room wasn't quite ready. He's still easily the most experienced and safest bet.
That said, I think both have a higher ceiling than Howard, so if they are ready, they very well could overtake them. However, I think both of those guys went into their original situations (Bama for Sayin, OSU for Noland) thinking they were probably not going to start as a true freshmen.
If sayin couldn't beat Jalen Milroe out, hes not a big time player anyway
Maybe. He has not taken a college snap yet. Not every 5* QB has to start as a true frosh. Additionally, Milroe doesn't have to be the best passer in their QB room to start. He brings a significant threat with his legs and he now has a full season of experience. All of that factors into the equation. We saw how much value Drones brought to our offense this past season even in games where he wasn't great throwing the ball.
