His work got really dark towards the end of his life. But the fact that his career had 4 different distinct arcs is really impressive. He literally pivoted from being one of the most clean cut comedians ever to being one of the raunchiest. His career spanned 40 years. A true legend.

I was raised on that album. My father was a huge Griffith fan and I bet I heard that record a hundred times. All my life, orange soda was a "big orange" to me.

100% agreed. After he left NYC, he literally traveled the world giving talks and seminars on how to address crime in big cities.
He has also apparently lost the script.

My favorite performance of his was in "A Face in the Crowd".
Carlin was thoughtful, passionate, and hilarious.
