Nike Concept Uniforms

I just followed Aaron Moorehead on Twitter and was scrolling through some of his recent posts and came across this one and didn't think it had been discussed as part of a uniform thread. If this is what Nike has in mind for us, we need out of the contract in my opinion. These are awful.

There has got to be a better way. Even the almost #allmarooneverything fails with that white up top.

What are your thoughts?

If I missed this posted elsewhere, mea culpa.

nicely done sir

They are fake and have been floating around for a while. @NikeBased isn't affiliated with Nike, and the mockups were done by someone called Mr. Design Junkie. He did these for a bunch of colleges, and NFL teams, all following the same template.

Thanks Joe, I about lost my lunch looking at them.

Some of those actually look really good. Oakland's and Cleveland's especially.

Seahawk's look like they'd give someone a seizure.

Edit: Joe beat me to it.

I will be extremely disappointed if we ever drop Nike. Nike is the premier football brand. If we went to Adidas I would reconsider my annual donation. Adidas has no place in football.

Beat WVU

Malcolm Delaney once tweeted that he refused to talk to Louisville when they recruited him b/c they weren't a Nike school. It's a huge asset in recruiting.

Also, love the signature.

I would start making donations if we went to Adidas. I don't like Nike, in fact, I only buy VT gear if it is not Nike. Nike, Apple, and AT&T, three companies I will never give my money to.

I agree that extreme brand loyalty to nike is absurd, and a this point they're not selling you a pair of shoes. They're selling you a logo.

Just curious what's wrong with those three companies?

I wouldn't say there is anything particularly wrong with these three companies, so much that:

Nike goes back to when I was a kid. Nike tried to break into skate culture because it looked profitable to them, but the 'anti-corporate' attitude I had at the time planted an anti-Nike flag that still exists. When they focused on soccer, my childhood sport, and took a whole lot from my preferred brand, adidas, who has lived and breathed the sport forever.

AT&T screwed me out of cell phone service when they acquired Cingular in about 2004. They just shut off my incoming calls without warning and without reason while I was job hunting at the end of my undergrad. They claimed it was because my phone wouldn't work on their network, but I could certainly make outgoing calls without a problem.

Apple has become the richest company in the world by selling overpriced electronics and underpaying the people who build them. Their profit margins are absurd and their marketing image is one that I severely dislike. Their early affiliation with AT&T didn't do them any favors.

Probably more than you were looking for, but there it is.

How the hell do horses dial on cell phones anyway?

They don't - never got the hang of the touch screen. Have to keep it old school.

What in tarnation was that?

This is going to be great for the ACC.

That was Dr. Horrible (he's got a PhD in horribleness!) receiving a call from Badhorse (The Thoroughbred of Sin, he rules The Evil League of Evil with an iron hoof) regarding his application to join The Evil League of Evil.

haha I was curious. There's some brands I'm biased against for similar reasons.

How the hell do horses dial on cell phones anyway?

He uses Siri (or in his case, the android equivalent).

Apple also came up with a good market for computers, don't forget. They initially filled the niche of easy to use interfaces that restrict what you can and can't do to avoid the user getting themselves in trouble. Given how a lot of people still aren't computer savvy, that's a great position to be in.

There's always a lighthouse. There's always a man. There's always a city.

You're 100% right. They've created products that filled a need for a lot of people, and they've been very successful. I guess I can't really explain my reasons very well. For some reason or another, I just have this aversion to those brands.

Your aversion could be that because you may not necessarily need a beginners-version GUI, etc., you're unwilling to pay ridiculously marked up prices for computers.

That's about half my aversion. The other half is the loyal fanbase of Apple lunatics.

There's always a lighthouse. There's always a man. There's always a city.

You're partially right, I don't need a beginner's UI, but I do appreciate the major step forward in their UI design. Hell, I have an Android with just about the same UI.

I think the Apple fanbase is a big part of it, too. I drove by the Verizon store on my way to work when the iPhone 5 came out and saw a big line. When I went into Starbucks I asked them what the line was for and they told me it was for the new iPhone. I almost yelled at them, "REALLY?! People are still lining up for that?!"

The Barista's first response wasn't "Holy shit, a talking horse on a treadmill!"?

I am really glad I had put my drink down before reading this. Soda through the nose would have been painful.

I'm with you on the Apple fanbase being a major deterrent. Most diehard Apple fans that I know tend to have questionable opinions in other areas as well. What kills me is when I ask them why they prefer Apple products I always end up having the same conversation:

Me: "Why do you prefer Apple products?"
Apple Fanboy: "They're superior products."
Me: "Why is that? What do you like about them? What makes them superior to other products?"
Apple Fanboy: "They're just better."
Me: "But, better how?"
Apple Fanboy: "They're just better."

It is okay to have an opinion and brand preference, but if you cannot articulate why, why should I listen to you? If you just told me you like the way they look, I would be fine with that. I just cannot stand, "They're just better" said with absolute certainty with a look that questions why I would be stupid enough to even ask.

A decade on TKP and it's been time well spent.

Jeez this was funny. Very NSFW, but funny. Reminds me of Cartman in the Elementary School Musical episode.

Well, I'm out guys. [get up from the sofa, puts on his jacket, and heads for the front door] If this is what's cool now, I think I'm done. I no longer have any connection to this world. I'm gonna go home and kill myself. Goodbye, friends.

Last time I had a conversation like this, it was with a friend of mine. Went something like this:

Him: Just got the new iPhone5
Me: I thought you already had an iPhone.
Him: Yeah, but this is the new one.
Me: Are you still buying into Apply products?
Him: It's such an awesomen phone.
Me: But why did you get a new one? Why didn't you go with Galaxy S4?
Him: I already know how to use this one.
Me: So it's pretty much like the last one?
Him: It's exactly like the last one
Me: SO WHY DID YOU BUY A NEW ONE
...

It went on like that for a while.

My only real complaint that I have about Nike is that I got so used to their shoes running a size or so small that I ended up with Sketchers that were about a size and a half too big when my parent's got me shoes from one of the outlet stores at the beach for my birthday.

I don't think I've ever dealt with AT&T since my cell phones have been Tracfone, Altell, Altell, and Verizon after they acquired Altell (side note: no problems with the switch for me, at the time I had an Samsung Hue and I used it until I go my current phone a Droid 2 R2-D2 edition about 3 years ago).

I don't really like Apple products, I tend to want more control over what I can do with my devices and I definitely like being able to spend less. That said, I don't think that its a bad thing for a company to have an "absurd profit margin. I would say that having as high of a profit margin as possible is the whole point of owning a business. I would also argue that as long as the Employer and Employee are both choosing to employ/be employed, there is no such thing as an underpaid worker.

I knew I liked you, Horse. I dont really have a problem with Nike, but everything else is spot on. ESPECIALLY about apple.

I thought horses liked apples.

This is going to be great for the ACC.

We do, but when you see one and bite into it and get a mouth full of microchips you start to question all the decisions you've made in your life.

I was waiting for you to say that some cruel bastard branded you with the Swoosh as a part of the Virginia Tech endorsement deal.

This would put you over the edge? The uniform provider?

The Dude Abides

I mean, some of our alternate uniforms have been amateurish...but at least Nike hasn't tried to Zubaz us up.

Love this character! It's great to see the show's writer shares the same disgust at America's growing pandemic of "literally" misuse.
