Yeah. When watching the game you would have thought the TO counts would have been reversed. But, too many of our TO's are self inflicted gun shot wounds...lazy and unnecessary. There are going to be TO's created from an opponent's hustle, but ours are often complete head scratchers. They also seem to come too often when we have a good lead and can add a nail to the coffin but don't. And, my favorite is when we create a TO and respond with our own TO. Gots to make them pay when they turn the ball over more often. We don't do that enough.

There was a 2 minute stretch that was awful and let them back in the game- terrible full court attempt from Pedulla after a rare defensive board and MJ Collins throwing it right to BC for a dunk. Frustrating, not winning basketball. That should have been a 15 point win at least.

We beat a BC team that won't be in the dance (DUH) so its time to celebrate. Never a given beating a 14-16 shit BC that never makes the post season. It's a great day.

Tough to enjoy bball around here. The game threads are 90% bitching about the refs, bitching about the team win or lose or flat out insulting them. Now the fam threads are just another outlet to bitch that they didn't win big enough or in the manner the poster believes they should have won instead of the way they did.
Oh well what're ya gonna do?

Yup. What to do? Talk with your friends about the game and remember why we're watching in the first place. We're fans. Not all of us are alumni, but I am and I am a fan who still feels like public criticism of my school and our teams and coaches makes me uncomfortable with the tone and tenor of the gripes. I may agree with a lot of the gripes and bitches, hell, I had people tell me it was time for me to shut the hell up when I was screaming at Lenny Wirtz back in the olden days, but at some point it turns from thoughts and suggestion to invective and insults. Make a supportive post is all we can do here.
I'm too darned wordy, no doubt, and should have just left it at Yup, but got triggered.
EDIT: And not sure if he still walks the earth, but Lenny deserved every insult I yelled at him in the Cassell. Every. Single. One.

That's the main reason I stay out of the basketball threads. Every other comment is some complaint about a foul or non-foul. If we are truly unbiased, those go both ways, but only rarely are those acknowledged.

I acknowledge when we foul and give the refs credit when they do call it. My wife will agree that she hears me say "Yup, he did that."
But dang, I wish we got unbiased refs that call things both ways every game. I can live with them calling every little thing a foul or nothing a foul. But call it BOTH WAYS!
Last night they stopped the game to review a foul called on us. Clear video shows that the BC player attempted a hook on Poteat and then flopped. But they refused to reverse it or even clear the foul off Poteat.

The Hokies now sit 4-4 in conference, tied for 7th. With 12 regular season games to go, the remaining games don't look too terrible.
