Welcome to the bad boyz club LJ.

Go hokies!

Danny is always open

PWO with chance to earn scholarship down the line ala Caleb smith.

So we're gonna have a Varina WR lining up against a Highland Springs DB.

Oh yeah, practice will be lit.

Never Forget #1 Overall Seed UVA 54, #64 UMBC 74

Collegiate WR.

Wet stuff on the red stuff.

Well yeah. He just committed to VT /s

He's originally from Varina.

Let's go baby

We are getting 3* players to commit as a walkon

Man, feels like recruiting is night and day different than it was under the last regime

I assume NIL can really help sell PWO spots these days

I thought the same thing. Looked it up.

Kaleb Smith was a 3 star. Number 29 player in Virginia.

Though he was an 83 overall vs. This kid being an 86.

So, not a huge difference, but still moving in the right direction.

"That's it guys. Let's get out of here. That cold drink's waitin' on us, let's go." - Mike Young after win no. 300.

83 vs 86 is a significant difference in recruiting rating

edit: per 247, 83 is basically a G5 player who could potentially be a contributor at a P5, while 86 is a capable P5 starter

To put it in perspective: our average recruit ranking last year was 86.91.

UVA's average recruit ranking was 85.96.

So this guy 86.69 composite is rated higher than UVA's average, and wouldn't have hurt our 2023 average much.

We are getting guys who would rather walk on here than get a full ride and likely start at UVa.

On one hand, loluva. On the other, if ever there was a reason why we should stop benchmarking us against that school....

Rutgers was 86.36 and Duke was 85.79 for average composite last year. Those are the two that were showing warm on 247. So, his composite is higher than both of their averages from last year.

Isn't anywhere better than Piscataway? I'd rather play at Wyoming in December than live in Piscataway.

Hat tip for the additional research.

There is definitely something to the argument that not all 3 stars are created equally, and you've identified the important threshold. Let's hope he comes in and contributes. And if he doesn't, let's hope that is because our other higher rated guys are too good to take off the field

That was the big thing about last year's class, it didn't have the eye popping 4* recruits but it has such a higher floor. We had 19 players ranked 86-89 on 247. We had 12 in the transition class and 7 before that.

I hope his career at VT resembles the success that a certain walk-on FB/HB by the name of Rogers once enjoyed.

VTCC '86 Delta Co., Peru Hokie, Former Naval Aviator, Former FBISA, Forever married to my VT87 girl. Go VT!

You never know what offers were committable, but he seems to have legit offers from Rutgers, Duke, UVA, BC, UConn, Liberty, and ODU. He's the #21 VA recruit according to 247 composite rankings.

Impressive player and recruiting win.
