6'8". 330 LBs. Hope he can block.

Doesn't matter if it's cake or pie as long as it's chocolate.

If he can just fall into the DL he will make enough room for Tuten to get through

Plan for the worst and hope for the best, not the other way around.

Im sure he can block. Can he play tackle at this level? That is the question. Tackle is about feet and hips more than pounds.

Sergio Render has been working with him and hyping him up for a long time.

I been here since day 0.

That's good enough for me. Welcome aboard Carter!!

Noice, that's a great in state start

Outside it's night time, but inside it's LeDay

In state? More like in county.

I know you're mostly making a joke, but that's actually kinda my point. This is a good in state start because we've struggled a little bit with NRV talent the past 2 years

2022 4/4, Pry added 3 in addition to Givens who was likely overrated. One of those 4 was a courtesy offer to fill out transition class.
Gunner Givens - Botetourt - Virginia Tech
Brody Meadows - Bluefield (I'm counting it as NRV) - Virginia Tech
XTB - Bluefield - Virginia Tech
Hunter McLain - Botetourt - Virginia Tech (since transferred)

2023 2/3 but missed out on top target
Carmelo Taylor - Roanoke - Penn State
Hannes Hammer - Roanoke - Virginia Tech
Marcell Baylor - Radford - Virginia Tech

2024 none, missed out on top target
Chris Cole - Salem - Georgia
Peyton Lewis - Salem - Tennessee
Bodie Kahoun - Roanoke - Notre Dame
Moritz Schmoranzer - Roanoke (via Germany, so asterisk) - Pitt
DJ Toliver - Botetourt - uncommitted
Kendal Howard - Botetourt - Wake Forest

Overall it's not terrible, but that's if you count Bluefield. The top guys in the NRV haven't been willing to commit to Pry. It seems as though the area is getting better at football, hopefully this is a trend that most of those guys want to play in Lane.

Outside it's night time, but inside it's LeDay

Oh man. I hope his folks can find a way to make the drive for at least a couple of his games.

Welcome to the party, pal!!

Gotta stay in that 6 hour minute radius to be successful in the footprint

The On3 composite has him at #43 OT in US, #1 rated OT in VA, and #18 overall recruit for the state of VA. That's pretty, pretty good.

🦃 🦃 🦃

That's awesome! You see us sign a guy from Christiansburg and assume we're just getting a local kid because he's a local. Looks like we would have recruited this guy from anywhere. He's got the beef, let's see if he's got the feet.

That's one of the weirder sentences I've written recently.

The best part about it is that he knows his way around the big city. There is a comfort level there and he won't have to adjust to navigate his way around the metroplex that is Blacksburg/C Burg!!!

metroplex that is Blacksburg/C Burg

I know you were kidding, but I had to say it. I live in Christiansburg so I know the area well.
I am super glad that the recent success the Demons have had in football are paying dividends for the kids on the team. And, I'm also glad that VT gets to reap some of that as well.

And it's still early enough in the '25 cycle that the rating could go up too. 87 rating is no slouch

Correct- not too many 4/5 star OL out there to begin with. You can't teach his size and we have cleared the biggest hurdle- the I must leave home effect- He doesn't have that. Let's hope Crook can find where his "dawg" is- most OL have it, you just have to tap into it properly. If the kid is a play just after the whistle kid- let him do that and teach him not to draw the penalty.

A decade on TKP and it's been time well spent.

Locally-sourced beef. Nice.

Every second counts

Beeeeef

It's strange how Blacksburg kids and Christiansburg kids hated each other in sports. From my childhood perspective, it's a big get to land a C'burger that probably cringes when he sees a West 460 sign. I hope times have changed for the local kids.

Nah, it's just a rivalry. And BHS sucks.

Yeah....you suck.

one click shows Wagoneer's been around TKP for 7 years. Sheesh. Everyone take a nap, have a snickers or something.

BHS had a great football team for many years. They have fallen on hard times.
I had a neighbor in Christiansburg (I still live here) whom was a big Demon and Hokie fan and went to ALL of the games for both every year. He told me several years ago that some really good athlete's within the Christiansburg footprint wouldn't play football for the Demon team. But recently that has changed - I don't know all the reasons why. The last 2 years the Demons have been very good.

I don't know any insider info, but this year's BHS team was the most non competitive I've ever seen in my life. Watched them play PH this year and they were absolutely shambolic. It was clear no one wanted to be there.

Go Hokies!

That is too bad. I hope they find there way back towards where they were a few years ago.

odd way to say that CHS sucks but I agree, CHS does suck

21st century QBs Undefeated vs UVA:
MV7, MV5, LT3, Grant Wells, Braxton Burmeister, Ryan Willis, Josh Jackson, Jerod Evans, Michael Brewer, Tyrod Taylor, Sean Glennon, and Grant Noel. That's right, UVA. You couldn't beat Grant Noel.

2021-22: 10-2, played in 2 playoff games losing in 2nd tournament game in state tournament.
2022-23: 10-4, played in 4 playoff games losing in quarterfinals in state tournament to state runner up Heritage.
2023-24: 8-4, played in 2 playoff games losing in 2nd tournament game in state tournament.

I'm sorry that is some solid results for past 3 years (they don't suck). Prior to that they were real bad, huge positive change almost overnight.

I think there is a new coach within the past 5 years or so that has really improved the football team, s&c, morale, smarts etc.

IIRC, This past season they were rolling until their starting QB got a season ending ACL tear. Then they just couldn't put up the points. They would have finished way better if they had him.

Happy to say I had two tackles in a goal line stand against the Demons for the win back in the day.

...with spirits true and faithful...

You should be happy to say that. I never lost to those guys. Just checked the timeline. Hard to believe Crist coached until 2014. I played in the mid 90's and my impression then was that he was old. Of course everyone seems old at 16-17, but thats a long career in HS.

Echo all the comments about beef. But what I'm really looking forward to is some pancakes to go with that beef.

Wow, huge but doesn't look it. Well proportioned kid. Can't wait to see what S&C does for him as well.

6'8 and 330?

good gawd, he's going to make Drones look like Bryce Young behind the LOS

"When I was growing up, Virginia Tech was a school that was kicking ass and taking names, and it's time we get back to that" - James Franklin

Anybody got any connections with someone Canada? Cause we're gonna need a shit load of syrup for all those pancakes!

"Hokie religions and ancient weapons are no match for a good blaster at your side, kid." Han Solo

Strangely, my sister gets a gallon of syrup every year from a collective she invests in. Gonna see if I can get 2.

A decade on TKP and it's been time well spent.

I had to look it up... An average maple tree produces 10 to 40 gallons of sap a year, and 10 gallons of sap yields a quart of syrup.

It's going to a lot of trees to get the amount of syrup required for all these pancakes.

🦃 🦃 🦃

We could use a Drones to help plant enough trees.

Only time I made syrup we tapped some maple trees for about 30 gallons of sap. It was taking forever to boil so we got complacent and lost track of it. Anyone who's made syrup knows that it boils down faster the more the moisture boils off so it blew right past where we planned to pour it out (half a gallon I think). Ended up being just over a quart of the best syrup I've ever tasted.

Had a roommate at Tech who was from Vermont. He brought back a jar of maple syrup his neighbor made (or extracted, whatever). It was the most amazing thing I've ever tasted. Most of the maple syrup in grocery stores is garbage. The real thing, fresh from the tree, is fantastic. I put it on everything.

This is a fact. Real VT syrup ha a totally different taste

When I was a kid in living in Northwest Indiana my family would go to a place that showed how maple trees were tapped and the process of making maple syrup. I want to say it was in or around the Indiana Dunes. They had a shop at the end where you could buy some syrup and maple candy. That was some good shit.

maple candy

Shit is legit yummy.

That stuff is crack. I couldn't let a trip to Vermont end without buying at least one box.

Of course, my wife would say if it is not a product of Canada, then it doesn't qualify as "real" maple syrup.

Recovering scientist working in business consulting

New England, specifically the states of Vermont, Maine, and New York will argue that with her. They make 80% of the nations maple syrup, Vermont alone is 50%.

Maine as well,. My wife and I on a trip up there came home with a case of different syrups and a case of blueberry wine

Rob Peterson

Maine's blueberries are the best for some reason.

Do Canadians think they're the only ones with maple trees?

Canada produces the bulk of that low quality syrup for the world.

They seem to be pretty confident about their syrup; look at their national flag.

Ut Prosim Ad Dei Gloriam

They actually maintain a strategic reserve of maple syrup. And that strategic reserve has been robbed in what was, until last year, the largest (by value) robbery in the nation's history. This should tell you how seriously they take their maple syrup.

Sometimes, I think so. They also think their chocolate is the best in the world. If her family is representative of the Canadian population, you could make a fortune running an import-export business with 2 kinds of products. Ship Canadian chocolate south to Canadian ex-pats living in the US and ship fruit gummy snacks north into Canada.

I don't mean to hijack this syrup thread, but who is the best Blacksburg/Christiansburg player(s) we've ever had?

I used to be with it, but then they changed what it was. Now what I'm with isn't it, and what's it seems weird and scary to me.

Cole Beck

lol

Motley wasn't a bad QB.

edit to mention Joey Phillips. He might not have been the best, but he sure was memorable

Sidney Snell??

Go Hokies!!

Sidney Snell was really a great athlete. High school RB, DB, kick returner, basketball guard leader in scoring and rebounds, captain of basketball and football. Track star, sprints, jumps. He did it all. Wanted to play football and basketball at VT, but football didn't allow it. Had a good college career as a flanker. Great hands and high pointer. 10 catches in Charlottesville for the win in 1982. Great person too. Huge smile all the time. He died too soon.

...with spirits true and faithful...

That's Brenden Motley's uncle!

Snell had a cousin that played for VT, but name escapes me. His sister Connie was a track star too. Quite the gene pool.

...with spirits true and faithful...

Damn, I feel like an ass. I didn't even know he had passed. He was a friend of a friend and used to stop by our tailgate from time to time before I started tailgating with the Lot 18 crew. I hate to hear that. He was a great guy.

If you play it, they will win.
