The offensive staff looks like they have at least two more coaches than the defense. But they only have one extra. Bowen just takes up a shitton of space

Everyone getting a buyout clause is a bigger deal than it sounds, IMO. That is a move you usually hear from the "Big Dogs" in FBS. Not saying we are one right now but it looks like we are starting to make moves that are usually made by those seen as such.

He got a like 50% raise last year - our receivers have another productive year on the field like they did last year and I expect we will need to bump his pay next season, my guess is he isn't jumping to leave at the moment. I also think he gets a $25k increase now annually if i remember correctly?

According to the SP+, the offense ranked 62nd in the country and the defense ranked 42nd. But improvement over last year was much better for the offense, which was over 100 in 2022.

Thanks for the stats which sparked this question: Given the current state of the game, what is harder to do have a good high ranking offense or defense??
Full disclaimer my CFB watching has diminished over the years to mostly watching just VT games, but I would argue it's tougher to have a highly ranked offense than defense. Teams (historically thinking big 12) focus on out scoring the team locking down the opponent. Which boosts the offensive rankings and diminishes defensive rankings.

I think that really depends on the conference and team. For VT, having a good offense was always harder, but they had Bud Foster at DC and Stinespring/Loeffler/Cornelsen at OC. I rekember someone doing some research a long whiles back, and had twice the number of 4-star recruits play on that side or something.
I also follow USC Trojans. It's easy for them to have an elite offense, really difficult to have a good defense. Since Pete Carroll, they have only hired offensive coaches as HC.

They had to move the camera back 5 yards so they didn't chop his head off.
Seeing that Bowen is noticeably bigger than JC Price just blows my mind.
Bowen is a man among boys, holy shit!
It's rumored he's 6'7"...
Some say he could look Bucky Hodges square in the eye
If I were CBP I would make Bowen stand a few coaches away haha
Maybe he wanted to be in the shade?
coach quinn does not look that big in his crootin tweets where he does The Point. looks like he's got pillows stuffed in his shirt!
He's been breaking a lot bread lately...
Is he the one third from the right? I was thinking it looks more like he's got a dorm fridge in his shirt.
Looks like he was drawn by Rob Leifeld.
With all those food pictures I'm not shocked at all.
Any of those would double my calories for the day, and I'm struggling to keep weight off.
Carbs are definitely not off the menu for that staff. Bless their hearts.
Did crook shave his head? Also who is far left?
I believe that's Dwight Galt IV our S&C coach
Edit (to the far left)
That is Holt with the shaved head and goatee. I remember not recognizing him at first last summer!
Honestly Holt and Crook looks similar at a distance.
Love it.
I know Pry doubled the size the support staff, but seems like some of the coaches could use a little more support...
MANssiere
Quite a roBUST staff we have now.
Any of them from the Chuck Amato coaching tree?
I just hope Pry hasn't built a staff that's too top heavy.
ASSTANT
I wasn't gonna say anything. But...yeah
I didn't major in English and I don't claim to be a master of it.
Are there any photos of our 6'-8" 330 lb Class of '25 commit standing next to Bowen? Not many people are larger than T-Bow.
That is a lot of Dudes!

I feel like Mines should have gotten a bigger raise to reward his work on the recruiting trail. We need to keep him here.

Not to be a negative Nancy but based on on-field production, Marve should not be paid as much (or have gotten a higher raise) than Bowen.
Really hope he proves me wrong and the LB/Def production improves.

"psst psst, hey Whit. When you extend Pry, make sure you don't increase his buyout in case he gets fired"

Every time I look at this photo, I look at a different coach posture. Every single time, I laugh.
it looks like only about three of them were excited for the photo op...lol
Its JC right? He one of the happy ones? /s
the laws of science clearly don't allow for coach cheetah to hide those pearly whites
Marve may want to up size his pants, he definitely has not been skipping leg day
