The Ladies travel to NC State tonight for a rematch of the game played in Blacksburg on Jan 7. We won that one on a last second shot by Liz Kitley. River Baldwin did not play in that game. The game will be on the ACC Network at 8PM. I'm not sure what to say about this one; so I just going to put up the usual data and let more qualified people talk about the game in the comments. I will say that NC State is a much better team when River Baldwin plays. This is going to be a great game.

I look at it as encouraging. Strack is trying to find her ACC footing. And it shows up every now and then. Amoore just hasn't gone into her "take over the game" mode yet.

Kitley has actually been doing the worst at free throws lately. She has missed 2 in a row a couple times now.

Me and my wife have been talking about that all game. Absolutely ridiculous that we would have fallen out of the top 16 seeds with a loss tonight. We lost a close game to the #3 team on a neutral court and a true road game to the then #7 team. The Duke loss isn't great, but I feel like we've been pretty seriously disrespected in the rankings. Haven't dove into the NET and other stats, but you would think we would pass the eye test to be comfortably within the top 16 to host the first two rounds of the NCAA. That being said, there's a lot of basketball left to be played. Take care of business, the rest of the way, and it takes care of itself.
Unfortunately the net rankings have us 17th. Biggest knock on Hokies is road record. Now 5-3.
Strength of Schedule also in the 17/18 range and Real Time RPI has them at 24.
Lot of these will change adding in NC State, Notre Dame, Duke again and Louisville this month. North Carolina was also a big boost to SoS. Duke actually has higher SoS than Hokies currently.
Three teams ahead of Hokies in rankings have lost this week with a fourth guaranteed without any other upsets. Only unfortunate part of that in terms of overall ACC strength, all three that have lost are ACC teams. Hokies beat BCon Sunday and they should jump Louisville and Notre Dame. I doubt they drop the Pack behind the Hokies even having beat them twice.
Because rankings aren't about the more deserving team and results on the court, but who's really better, right?
Notre Dame hanging around due to that random UConn win in the middle of their schedule. We've got a few weeks to see how solid they actually are.

Utah at 15-6 and 6-4 on the road but 6th in the NET is odd.
Also, it's super odd that the women's NET rankings are different than the men. They don't differentiate quad wins by home/road/neutral like the men do so it makes it really hard to rack up Q1 wins.
Loss AT fsu & duke as #11 to get to #19, followed by wins against everyone, everywhere...does seem a slow recovery. 🤔
The back-to-back didn't help. Comparing NCstate, each of their losses caused a 3 spot drop but they were more spaced out.
According to the brackets this morning we have moved from the #3 (4 seed) to the #4 (4 seed) after winning? What the heck?
Beating NC State hurt their profile thus hurting two of our wins. It's dumb math but is what it is.
