The Ladies host the Blue Devils Feb 15 at 8 PM. The game is on the ACC Network. I am on my annual golf trip to Orlando. Playing 27 or 36 holes for the next 5 days weather permitting. The weather will not permit on Sat and Sun; but we will give it our best shot.
I don't know that I need to say a whole lot about this game. The ladies got handled by Duke at Duke on Jan 18 46-63. We were still tying to get it together as a team then. I think we have our shit together now.
The Blue Devils do have a taller player in 6'5" Sr #42 Kennedy Brown. No. 21, 6'5" Emsbro also plays about 15 mpg. So for most of the game Liz will have to face a player close to her own height. Unless Duke puts both on the court at the same time they can't match Kitley and Strack.
The Blue Devils only have three players scoring in double figures; but they play 9 players regularly.
I need to get to bed for a 5:30 get up for a 7:30 tee time. I hope to be back in the room tomorrow in time to see the Hokies dominate the Devils. This may be one of the more winnable games we have left.

I think it's important to note that in the last game, Amoore got hurt, Micheaux was still getting run, and neither Ekh, Baker, nor Wenzel were hitting beyond the arc
Last time out the Hokies also turned the ball over 20 times leading to 20 Duke points. Strack was the only one of ten Hokies to not have at least one turnover but Amoore and Wenzel combined for eight.
We were also getting by worked by Duke and the Refs. After the graphic hits on Kitley, King, Etc. last game I am hoping the refs call it tighter. If they do, Duke is doomed, rough and tumble is their play style.
Sad thing is, no matter the officiating crew, these girls have been battered game after game since at least the ncaa tourney last year. If they haven't called a tighter game by now, they're not going to.
you know, the headgear thing was a joke, but is there any rule against them playing with padding? can you imagine if all our starters had soft helmets on and what kind of an indictment that would be on the refs?

They should show up for pregame warmups and have the helmets on. They could then shuck them just before heading onto the court for tip off. Statement will have been made, and the refs would be royally pissed, but also royally embarrrassed. We might lose the game because of the stunt, but it might be worth it.
LSU showed everyone else how to beat us in the Final 4 last year, you just have to beat the crap out of us. If the refs aren't calling it, then you can't really get mad at the opponent for taking that strategy. It's incumbent on the refs to protect the players, and it seems like they just aren't going to do that unless it's Caitlin Clark.

Kenny needs to draw up something on the offensive end. The way Duke is overplaying, some.back door cutting would be good. Would love to see some pink down screens along the baseline too to free up Kitley and/or Strack.
