That was the closest 16 point game I've ever experienced. Girls were lights out and answered every shot from Louisville. When Liz has that touch on her fade, literally unbeatable

Women's hoops: NC State, Syracuse & Louisville are a combined 39-0 at home when not playing Virginia Tech. 0-3 when playing the #Hokies.— Will Stewart (@WillStewartTSL) February 18, 2024

I distinctly remember the metro days. But, I was young enough to not really be aware of the political goings on.
I just remember thinking the move to the Atlantic 10 was a big deal and cool. Marcus Camby was big at the time. I can remember meeting the football team at the UMass game in Cassell.

Loserville sued to get us out of the Metro. We received $1M settlement fee. First time we played them after that our guys wore T-shirts that said "thanks a million".

They wanted a foul on Kitley when there was a fight for a rebound and one of their players setup close to draw a foul and then took a dive.
It looked aggregious only if you ignore that Kitley had the right to maneuver the ball.

at the game, they started booing every single foul called on Louisville. Despite the fact they had called 5 more fouls on us. Like how the girl landed on Cayla for a rebound and gets called like she shouldn't have been under where she jumped

I'm betting the crowd was still booing the refs because of the 'Cuse game and how that ended. They may have just been hugely "anti-ref" regardless of the opponent.
Edit: Or they were just a bunch of assholes.

I will give them credit, there were a lot of extremely nice fans there. Before the game welcoming us (which is always funny to respond with how we've lived here for a few years) and then afterwards lots of people saying how good our team looked. I'm guessing it was more ref frustrations

FAM! just watched the replay....what a solid ass kicking. This game was never in doubt.
also, did Kitley know that Santa Claus was going to be guarding her tonight?

FAM!!
Is Liz the most dominant VT athlete since MV7? Maybe Tincher is up there. As good as Liz was last year she still managed to get materially better over the off season. What a joy it has been watching her career.

Funny you bring this up. I have been thinking the last couple of weeks just where Kitley ranks among all-time VT athletes. Just last night I checked Tincher's stats. Tincher is definitely #1, IMO. She is one of the top 5 pitchers in NCAA history, her stats are just downright ridiculous.
But I think Kitley is going to end up being on the Mt. Rushmore of VT athletics, after she collects a few more end-of-season trophies in a few weeks. Without doing a ton of research I'd have as my VT all-time top 4: Angela Tincher, Liz Kitley, Bruce Smith and Queen Harrison (track and field).

And then I noticed Bruce Smith in there, and realized you weren't just doing a Lady Hokie Mt. Rushmore. Vick has to be in the equation here. Other than that, I'm okay.

Had the great pleasure and privilege to be attending VT when Bruce was there. double teamed on nearly every single play and STILL had 23 sacks in an 11 game season!! Phenomenal! And at 6'3 and 285 lbs could still run a 4,7 40 time!
Note also saw him at War Memorial gym playing pickup basketball. You wouldn't think a 285 lb guy could jump that well on his dunks.

He had a few beers with me and some of my Sigma Nu Fraternity brothers back in summer of 1984. We have a sand court in backyard of house. That dude got so high to spike a ball, which then whizzed by my head. That was insane! Great guy. Was a fun day (even though he owned us).

Senior night got even more impactful with the ability to clinch the ACC title. I am getting nervous that there is too much buzz on the game, but Im hoping that the wbb team wont have the historical football collapse in big moments

Embrace the target. If we can't handle a big regular season game, we're never going to go very far when it matters. I have no doubt our ladies know that already.

HOKIES!!
Hardest game left on the schedule is a win, FAM! Now let's put away UNCheat, Notre Lame, and LOLUVa to secure that 2 seed.
Really hope they blow the doors off UNCheat
I hope we lock them down defensively, even though, you know, we don't really do defense 😡
The Networks already hyping the "highly anticipated rematch". Based on the standings they've been heading in different directions.
Don't sleep on ND. Hannah Hidalgo looks amazing for a freshman.
Record FG%, 65.4%, FAM!!!
They scored 86 points with only 9 free throw attempts. That's impressive.

Her J is very qualified
Doing what no one else has done FAM
Wow, Just WoW. That is actually amazing.
Thanks a million
Don't tell me I'm the only one old enough to remember this from the Metro days?

Any true hokie fan should hate every single thing about louisville. everything, ever.
Personally, I take way too much joy in beating them in anything. Especially "their" sport (basketball).
When they started booing us for...something, my first reaction was "YOUR BOOS MEAN NOTHING TO ME, I'VE SEEN WHAT MAKES YOU CHEER"
They wanted a foul on Kitley when there was a fight for a rebound and one of their players setup close to draw a foul and then took a dive.
It looked aggregious only if you ignore that Kitley had the right to maneuver the ball.
Same call that cattoor got called a foul against unc
The difference is those officials actually gave Louisville a flop warning!

I mean - their coach in those days was Denny CRUM- that says it all, lol!
Should be 7th in the new polls and on the 2 line
#7 Kansas State lost on Wednesday
#8 Colorado lost on Friday
#9 UCLA lost on Friday
#11 Oregon St lost on Sunday
#6 NC State barely pulled out a double OT win over a 15-11 GT team at home
FTFY.

Spyridon Julian, Marcel Lomnicky, and Mekhi Lewis are also considered.
I thought about responding Spyridon earlier. It's hard to not recognize your first national champion.
And he was a cool guy to boot.
Super fucking cool dude!
Lisa Pikalek and Jenny Root would have a word.
And then I noticed Bruce Smith in there, and realized you weren't just doing a Lady Hokie Mt. Rushmore. Vick has to be in the equation here. Other than that, I'm okay.

Sounds like you are lucky you didn't lose your head.
Shocking news: Sports Center said really nice things about VT, Kitley and Amoore.
Gotta pump up interest for Gameday.

Be Like Georgia
Duke doing us a solid by taking down Syracuse. Hokies now 2 games up in the ACC (tiebreakers vs Syracuse and NC State)
UNC and Indiana putting in the work, knocking off NC State and Iowa respectively.
Now the Hokies can move up to 6th with a win on Sunday and can clinch the ACC title with a week to go in the season.
Leaves us cheering for Oklahoma on the 28th against Texas and Oregon State on the 29th against Stanford
Also, Iowa can upset Ohio State on the 3rd and Colorado on USC tomorrow (Friday)
It's entirely possible we are ranked 2nd by the time the ACC tournament begins.
#2 is cursed so maybe #3 instead
Need to stay focused on the next game and go 1-0. Keep the petal to the metal.

They've had "buzz" for both NC State games, the first UNC game, and the Louisville game; not to mention the Iowa and LSU games earlier this season.
