After upsetting the Hokies, the Wahoos couldn't get it done against Wake Forest yesterday, although the Tobacco Road effect seemed very much in play. UVA played the same way they had against the Hokies, especially Johnson and Clark driving the lane yet the free throw disparity was 21-4 in favor of Wake.
I love a Wahoo loss but when a team gets to the line 29 times the game before and only 4 times the next night it's just another bad look for ACC officiating.
They likely should have had less against us but about 13-15 more against Wake. The fifteen point difference at the line was too much to overcome in a three point loss.
10 seed Georgia Tech behind Tonie Morgan's double double had no trouble dispatching 15 seed Pitt 73-60. GT got double-digit scoring from three others on its way to victory.
In the third game, 13 seed Boston College took down 12 seed Clemson 85-72 behind Sidberry and Todd combining for 44 points. Todd hit five three-pointers and Clemson shot 19% from the perimeter.

Round 2
#5 Louisville vs #13 Boston College
#8 North Carolina vs #9 Miami
#7 Duke vs #10 Georgia Tech
#6 Florida State vs #14 Wake Forest
Today's schedule
BC vs #24 Louisville 11am
Louisville beat BC twice 69-67 and 88-60
Miami vs UNC 130pm
UNC beat Miami 66-61 back in January
GT vs Duke 5pm
Duke beat GT 84-46 back in January
Wake Forest vs FSU 730pm
FSU won both games. In December 73-61 and February 71-63.
You hated to see the UVA women lose last night... hated to see it
Only reason I would have wanted them to win would be for the Hokies to wipe the floor with them on a neutral court. Otherwise any Boohoo loss is a thing to celebrate.
In this case though them losing now means their season is likely over which is so.ething to celebrate.
BC and Louisville going down to the last possession.
1 point game, 30 seconds to go.
BC just couldnt hit their perimeter shots. 19% from outside just doesnt get it done. Not that their interior shooting was much better 19-45.
Neither team did well shooting but seemed like they got open shots so not exactly a defensive stale mate
BC taking Louisville to the wire is not a good sign for Louisville moving forward.
Idk, I think Hokie fans should know results in one game is not indicative of future game results (see Hokies v. Clemson, 2022)
Hokies in the crowd watching Miami/UNC. You could see Liz but couldn't tell if she had any kind of brace on.
Have seen multiple posts that she did not participate in practice today.
I would think she'd have a brace on regardless.
Not sure I have ever seen so many offensive foul calls as their have been between UNC and Miami.
What a really dumb intentional foul by Miami
2 minutes to go with a four point lead you knock a Tar Heel down in a dead ball situation which UNC converted into four points.
And now traveling with 25 seconds left to give the ball to UNC down 1
Wow Miami just missed both free throws with 15 seconds left to give UNC another shot down 1
Woof that was a tough moving screen call on UNC
Followed by dumb travel by Miami on inbounds
I was surprised they swallowed the whistle on that last possession by UNC.
Hokies will face Miami whom they beat 76-52 in early January. Kitley had 31 in that game though.
I hope Strack can get n+8 to offset the difference, where n is what she scored vs miami
Solid comment here ^^^
N= 2
Since we play Miami and not UNC, I feel better about Kitley not playing. However, if she doesn't, are we to assume that she's out for the ACCT? Or will we will try to spin it that's she's resting for the NCAAT? I don't want us to FSU'd when it comes to seeding.
I dont think we should assume anything. Her injury unless catastrophic is likely being reviewed daily. That said it also may come down to what Kitley and Coach Brooks deem the priority. I would expect NCAAT is priority if possible.
I doubt they will announce anything until after the seeding for the NCAA. Her being ruled out would definitely affect the seeding so there is good reason to release any info.
Florida St up 50-30 on Wake with over 2 mins left in 2nd Quarter.
We want #5 Loserville to win now against #4 ND, right? Loserville had a really tough time against #13 BC yesterday, and it would be game 3 for them tomorrow while only game 2 for us
ifwhen we beat Miami today. On the other hand it would be nice to revenge on ND, but I don't want to chance it with Kitley being such a question mark at this point.Agreed! That would be best case for us
Yeah, don't really want to face Hidalgo again! She's going to be a thorn for several years.
I honestly don't think so. I think LSU is going to offer her $750,000 a year minimum in NIL and she is going to transfer. They are paying big money to their stars.
Yeah, I'm not seeing Louisville win this one...
EDIT: They went from down 17 at the half to only down 8 with just over 4 remaining. Maybe Loserville has an upset in them yet?
ND literally has their little Kobe Bryant that thinks she has been disrespected her whole life and is on a mission with a huge chip on her shoulder. Annoying little gnat. It will be more annoying when she sees South Carolina in the sweet 16 and she goes 2-28 shooting and has 6 points.
Narrator: They did not have an upset left in them...
2 possessions in a row where they should have called fouls on hidalgo
Haven't we all learned by now they don't call fouls on the stars unless they play for the Hokies.
They filled the GA for the first game with busloads of elementary school kids and I think they handed out cocaine
I do not envy you.
Volunteer DJ'd once at my kids elementary school for a "function" - never again. All they did was literally scream the whole time.
fortunately I am section 112, but still pretty close. Curious to see if the seats stay filled all game or if they open up for our game
They've done that for years. Fun story:
Back in 11 or 12, when I was in the HT pep band that was usually making a day trip supporting a perennial bottom feeder, the kids spontaneously decided they were all Georgia Tech fans sometime in the second half while the game was close.
A few started heckling during Hokie free throws. I took umbrage, waited till it got quiet in the arena, turned around and sounded off with "the Easter Bunny isn't real!"
Shut the fuckers up, but I caught death glares from their teachers the rest of the game.
That's excellent! LMFAO
Don't bring smoke if you can't handle some fire.
I could watch kids lose their belief in the Easter Bunny all day. I don't give a shit about your kids.
As long as Santa is safe, the presents keep coming.
Yeah man, screw the Easter Bunny. Especially after what he did to Brodie.
I told my daughter when she was very young that there was no Santa Claus and no Easter Bunny. Saint Nicholas, he was real. And so is the true hero animal of Easter.

Louisville coach just got his second technical foul and has been ejected. Not sure why he's so upset. They've shot more free throws than ND after only shooting 4 of them in the 1st half. They shot less than 70% from the line as a team which is the difference in the game.
The free throws still arent close to right though. Notre Dame should have had three or four players fouled out by now but of course that didnt happen. Hidalgo got away with so much crap today its ridiculous.
Hidalgo is quickly becoming like Clark in terms of getting away with everything from the refs. It's maddening. She's really good but I can't understand why she gets away with what she does.
Absolutely...I wont take anything away from her talent but defensively she is sloppy and constantly getting caught with hands on people but it goes uncalled four out of five times
Unfortunately I see a number of players who play that way. They seem to be taunting the refs either foul me out before half or don't bother to call them. I want the refs to start calling them.
Wow that was close to getting really ugly. I dont blame Louisville's coach for losing his shit there
wished it would have gone to double OT so whoever won would be mush for their next game.
FSU up by 24 in the 4th against Syracuse. More proof Coach Brooks should have been coach of the year
All that uproar on D'yasha Fair not getting POY...comically bad performance from the Orange
Notre Dame beat NC St 55-51 to win the ACCT
Shocker Angel Reese playing dirty.
Not a shocker...SCar overcoming all her elbows so far. Only surprise is that they have called her on even some of her BS.
Albeit, not enough
Reese and Morrow a combined 10-34 from the floor. LSU is 17-48 inside the perimeter.
If SCar could have hit their threes it would be a blowout.
Now they got in a fight for real. Four or five ejections but you know they won't be suspended for first round NCAA game because SEC
Edit: Seeing conflicting reports that the SCar big Cardoso that put the big hit in is facing missing first half OR first game of tournament but is only one because her ejection is for fighting even though LSU's player started the entire thing with a dead ball elbow to a SCar player.
Just a bit before, this was Angel Reese pulling Cardoso's hair
Worst part of all of it though was Clown Face after the game
See update above
TBF, seeing how scar#2 approaches lsu player in dominate position and is jawing in her face, i woulda elbowed and pushed her out of my way too.
That being said, where was this big bad Angel Reese person when the scuffle was going on? Even little Hailey Van Lith ran into the scrum like she was gonna do something (i LOL'd when i seen that).
Reese was over by the bench oblivious to it as she was grabbing at her knee. She appeared fine afterward but if she hadn't tweaked her knee she would have been in the middle of it and it probably would have been worse overall. As it is several LSU relatives jumped on the floor and were arrested.
You can see her early in video on the right grabbing her knee down the LSU bench
End result, Cardaso best player on SC is going to be suspended for the first game of the NCAA tournament and is anybody for LSU actually going to be suspended? I don't think so. They said they left the bench area but if they didn't get involved there is no next game suspension.
Does not appear that any LSU players will be suspended although Johnson and Van Lith both threw "blows". Johnson started it with the dead ball elbow and Van Lith put a forearm into Cardoso's neck. But $EC.
LSU is the most difficult team to root for in sports. So unlikeable its not funny.
Van Lith is a poop stain of a human being. A North Texas mug, if you will. Such a great culture fit for LSU.
I saw a report that the only player actually going to be suspended for the first round game will be Cardaso. Despite Lith being involved.
It is easy to dislike LSU. They play dirty and never get called on it by the officials.
