Wait...she's averaging about 20 points and 20 rebounds + 2.8 blocks per game? Yes please.
Yep. And will likely be Hokies "swing" forward.
How's the rest of the class looking? I realize this is the understatement of the year, but we're going to need some high-end talent come into the program to even stay within the same area code of where the women's team has been the last couple of years.
The class before Hassett was the #6 class in basketball.
Lexi Blue, PG is the third highest rated recruit under Brooks, behind only Kitley and Aisha Sheppard. She has the handle to be a point guard but is a better shooter.
Carla Silva, C ESPN didn't rank her because she is overseas but she is thought by others to be Top 10 in the Class and the #1 Big. She is rumored to now be 6'8. She averaged 18p and 12r at the Under 18 European Championships in 2023.
Myah Hazelton, F from Baltimore is also a 4* player and will likely split time with Hassett and Micheaux but could redshirt if Kenny doesn't think he will get her enough minutes.
From the 2023 class we also have not seen MacKenzie Nelson, 4* 93 ranking PG who was the Connecticut Gatorade POY who scored over 1000 points her senior year. She was first team all state all four years of high school. She was the 65th ranked player in class of 23.
The Hokies will have Ekh, Mucheaux, Strack, Suffren, Baker and possibly Amoore returning next season.
Kenny already has a commitment from 4* guard Kennedy Henry for the class of 25. She is currently about 46th in her class and the 6th best Combo guard.Guard. She recently led her team to a Mid Atlantic Premier League Championship. She also scored over 1000 points her Junior year.
CKB doesn't rebuild, he reloads.
Nelson's film really reminds me a lot of Hidalgo at ND fwiw....
When you start being consistently good, it becomes easier to reload.
normally I'd post a certain gif about "stop stop I can only get so..."
But that seems inappropriate when talking about HS and college girls half my age. Nevertheless, I am excited for the future of Hokie WBB, but only to a socially acceptable extent.
Yeah, you threaded that needle well. Being a dirty old man myself, however...
"I'm not a flasher in a raincoat. I'm not a dirty old man".
*chefs kiss*
Sahnya Jah, a 6-0 Fr Forward for South Carolina has entered the portal.
She is a former top 40 player nationally, and is originally from Alexandria, VA
Might also be an addition, perhaps.
Suspended for reasons detrimental to the team...
Yeah, that's a hard pass. If you're suspended from a $EC school athletics team for those reasons; it must be REALLY BAD
Don't need no stink on our end
Not necessarily.
"Reasons Detrimental to the Team" can mean a lot of things that would not necessarily be a red flag at another program. It could be that she may not have a good relationship with key players or coaches on the team that reached a boiling point, which led to her suspension. In the article, it states that there was a way for her to work her way back on the team, which could be explained by my hypothetical. If the bridges are burned, and relationships cannot be mended, then a transfer to another program might not be a bad thing for that new program.
So does this mean she's destined for LSU???
or maybe that $EC teams will make allowances for good players. So, if you actually get the suspension, it may not be so much that you did something really bad, but that you aren't good enough to justify the free pass treatment.
