For some reason I am now imagining Dadi Nicholas as a punt returner (try it, it's fun)

4.40???
Wyatt Teller is a monster, Dadi is a freak of nature, and these numbers also show why Facyson is great at recovering.
Dadi is very althletic. I cant wait for him to put it all together and elavate the hokie defense to new height.
Wyatt Teller and Alston smith look very promising.
How about Bucky Hodges 4.46!!! Think that will be big time!
Maybe he should be a QB (/sarcastica)
Wait, wait...4.4 40 AND a 1.6 10 yard? His name is going to get called a lot next year.
and Nigel Williams, who had more tackles for a loss in WAY fewer snaps than Dadi last year.
Nigel is my new money Man next year.
I think he will have the best breakout season on D.
Every time I hear the name Nigel Williams, I picture..
At that speed, Dadi is more likely to go right past me. And I'm a horse...on a treadmill
I wish demitri would use that 38" vertical on those jumps balls from last season
Speaking of Demitri, I thought it was odd that he wasn't in the top 5 for the 40.
They probably made him put on some weight, it takes some time to get used to running with an extra 5-10 lbs. especially when you're talking about tenths of a second.
I noticed that too. Odd for a track guy. Was he more middle distance? (400-800.) He returns kickoffs like he is running an 800.
This former High School middler is Insulted. Demitri does not have middle distance stamina.
Interesting that it states Augie Conte broke the OT power clean record at 380 but he's under Teller who had 385...do they have Teller at Guard? Or does he not officially have a position yet with Searels?
It's also possible this is has already been posted elsewhere or it's just a mistake.
I believe Andy Bitter mentioned that Teller is at Guard for the moment in one of his articles today.
Beasts: Augie Conte, Wyatt Teller , Brent Benedict
Freak Athlete: Dadi Nicholas
Look at Sam Rogers Blowing It Up!!
Holy Crap, an 8' Bucky Hodges running at you with a 4.46 sec 40 and a 38.5" vertical leap!! Throw the ball within a 20 ft radius of him and he'll catch it!
Go Hokies!!
So Bucky Hodges is 7'15, runs a 4.46 AND has a 38.5" vertical? I don't use this lightly, but could he possibly be the return #MANBEARPIG? Could such a thing be possible?
All joking aside, I can thing of few things that will help an inexperienced QB then a good OL (plenty of returning starters and some young studs) and good running game (Edmunds, Williams, etc) and safety blankets in the passing game (Malleck, Kline, a 7'15 Bucky Hodges, Stanford, Byrn). I think this team will surprise some people.
Bucky Hodges, terrorizing defenses and cities alike.
bucky hodges, the mountain that runs.
Someone needs to make a gif of the scene in season one where the Mountain takes the head off his horse with Cavman on the back falling off.
Everyone is talking about Bucky as a TE, but what about WR?
+1. Great Point!
Guarantee he will be split out wide or in the slots. They are not lining him up as an hback or true tight end.
Pretty much how the Saints use Jimmy Graham as a "tight end".
Also, look at Facyson and Kendall Fuller's shuttle numbers. Wow! That duo is nasty in the high G change of direction stat (kind of like a guided missile!) and that bodes well for 2014.
Discussed before, but let's show some love for little man JC Coleman with with big boy front squat of 455?!
Reading Andy's blog and looking at Beamerball tables got me thinking. When was the last time we had Dadi Nicholas' numbers combination in a DE....?
Bruce Smith!!
Dadi reminds me of a bigger version of Corey Moore.
Yea, its the bigger part that gets me to Bruce Smith.
I played sand volleyball against Bruce while I was at VT. Man that dude was big, fast, and could jump really high (blot out the sun high)!
Forgive my ignorance, as the Bruce Smith era was quite a bit before my time, but how much DE did Bruce actually play in college? In the limited highlight footage I can find, there are plays where he's coming off the edge, but there's also footage of him introducing himself as a defensive tackle. And he won the Outland award which is for interior lineman. And I've read he was north of 300 lbs at one point during his senior season (that's 80 lbs more than Dadi).
In terms of leaping ability and explosiveness, I'd say Dadi's pretty similar to Gayle. Gayle had the position record for vertical jump (I think it was 39") before Dadi broke it. Also, Gayle's 10 yard split from his combine 40 was a 1.6 (I question how meaningful it is to compare hand-timed results for such a short time duration, but whatever). From a physical standpoint, Dadi is Jams Gayle with the Level 3 Weight Reduction and Nitrous Packages from Need for Speed.
Bruce was always listed as a DE (college and pros). The dude was a monster. He broke a Miami QBs shoulder in one game early in one season - I think it was Jim Kelly in 1982.
You make a good point about the Outland trophy being for "interior" lineman. Maybe there wasn't a distinction for that award back then that there is now (a new award was added?).
I'll buy 4.4-something for Nicholas & McKinnon, but I'm not buying 4.4-flat -- especially when the next 3 times for skill players seem pretty realistic this year. I suspect that something got lost in translation somewhere between the stopwatch and Beamerball.com.
