Yeesh I'm getting sick of writing about this crap to you guys but I'm full of good news today. It is gonna be a beautiful day today so please all of you enjoy your last day of break, go throw a football, play some baseball, or soccer....iunno maybe a hike? Fishing?! Fact of the matter is were looking at like 65 degree temperatures sunshine and glorious weather. However don't get to used to it just yet :\ temperatures are gonna drop pretty substantially over the next few days.
However there is a system rolling in and a few of them are saying there's a substantial chance that we could have snowfall that would make that drive home from spring break a living nightmare. However its people like these that are....uhhhh well making people take us forecasters less seriously. In all honesty I see no evidence of accumulation I haven't had a chance to check the skewTs as I'm currently in the Chesapeake area visiting the ladyfriend. So doing this on the phone can be a little trickier but I'm pretty sure there's nothing significant coming. I've seen a few doomsday sayers that Staunton area is looking at 9 inches but....yeah its not happening its waaaaaay to warm, I'd be surprised if they got 3" by the time the weeks over and the entire system has moved through let alone Sunday afternoon. So yeah this is winters last stand and its turning out to be a pretty terrible last stand. So those of you driving home I wouldn't lose to much sleep over this just be prepared for some rainfall.
Drive safe everyone hope break went well!
Go hokies!!!!!

Lady friend huh?? *wink wink nudge nudge*
As far as there not being any snow, this is actually very welcome news to hear. This winter has absolutely killed me as far as my financial well being goes. Idk what old man winters problem has been this year, but I'm gonna need him to calm down
Yeah he's been pissed about something that's for sure this winter has been pretty brutal but things are looking to be clearing out hopefully this will begin a trend towards consistently warm weather and old man winter can be shutup for another 9 months...although if I've learned anything its that blacksburg weather is incredibly all over the place
Thanks for that.
I'll still schedule the brew day for a different day than Monday but, thanks for the update.
What are you brewing? I need to brew again but it's probably not going to be for a few weeks. We don't drink enough beer in my house anymore to merit brewing more than once a month.
Are you on untappd? I think in untappd freinds with someone on here, but I forget who.
I am on untapped but we just tapped our Boxcar Red ale yesterday so, it's probably not listed yet.
On Wednesday I'll be brewing a Belgian Pale Ale.
I'm flying out of IAD for work Monday morning, I could really use "no snow" for me and my wife's sake.
Speaking of untapped we should start a thread for that jank jaha
I think we have had enough discussion about that. However, if someone wanted to start a thread about James Johnson expressing an opinion about the job he's done or his potential future, I haven't heard enough about that.
It was nice and warm today at Shamrock the Block, so naturally winter decides to have the last laugh. The Winter Storm Watch went out around 4 here.
Update!!!!!!
Temperatures are trending downward very quickly.... expect a little more snow down the I81 corridor 2-4 inches in most areas! Fair warning drive safe! The roads should be prepares and cleared. 81 is one of the first roads they covered by snow plows and salt. Sooooo theres that but be careful try to leave early if possible it'll start as rain and switch over towards snow into the evening so again be prepared for some interesting conditions aloft and some nice wintry mix including a little sleet too. Travel safe hokies!
Yup, I definitely use this as my primary source of weather information now. My friends all think I'm super smart when I correctly predict weather patterns on gameday now. Don't think they've figured out why I can't do it all the time...
I've never seen it snow so hard at 46 degrees
Some snow mixed in with the rain in Roanoke.
There's some sort of cold precipitation coming down in spurts in Blacksburg, still not quite sure what it is though.
Loudoun County is all snow. Sticking to everything. Power just went out. Fun times.
lots of sleet so far, this is kinda messy, its mother nature being the ultimate tease.
temperatures wanna rise due to march/spring weather and the cold front is keeping it to cold to high in the atmosphere too make it a straight rain storm. however there is a dry slot (which Ive mentioned before) coming through Blacksburg shortly, don't expect significant accumulation. These dry slots are nearly impossible to predict long-term so don't expect much accumulation haha also! ill try to start doing widespread forecasts throughout the state/region from here on out on future events! sorry my girlfriend doesn't have the best internet and these things are kinda tricky especially with all the tools at my disposal so again sorry it wasn't my A-game and if you all have any questions about any weather related phenomena ill do my best to answer them if you post em on here whether (haha im punny) its sun devils or precipitation cores, you name it and ill see what I can do. ALSO are there any physics majors or people who majored in physics at one time? im thinking about picking up a minor. is astrophysics damn near impossible?
8 inches in Fairfax....
Thats what she said...
Yeah we got about the same in Loudoun County, at least the power is back on so I can telework. Too bad I wont get my annual wear all kinds of crazy Irish gear to work though. Had a new hat and a new pair of pants basically just for today.
