Where on the site is this, the Tourney Challenge? Do I have to set up my own account 1st to get to this group? Sorry, never spent much time on this, trying to get involved.

Yep, you can save at any point; it doesn't have to be done. You can actually fill out the whole thing, save it, then re-do it completely later on. The picks only lock in when the tourney starts.

My picks are purely based on who I want to win. Not based on what makes sense. As such, EKU wins the big dance. Sucks for VCU, I've been pulling from them for a bunch of years in a row, but now that EKU's in the mix, I need need need to them to win.

Same. I pick Kansas every year (I would pick VT but it wouldn't be the wisest thing to pick a non-tournament team) and then knock out teams I hate. If I had it my way Missouri, KState, UVA, WVU and Duke would never win a game.

Hey, make sure you guys also fill out a bracket over on Yahoo. Pick a perfect bracket and win a cool $1 BILLION dollars. That could go a long way towards making a donation to improve the basketball program and to allow Joe to operate TKP as a full time operation. Give us all kinds of bells and whistles. Be in the top 20 brackets, win $100K.

Reason #2096 to hate yahoo:
Using Google Chome, I can't click to get rid of the stupid "this is how you fill out your bracket overlay" and therefore I cannot fill out my bracket.
Using the dreaded IE, I can click to get rid of the stupid "this is how you fill out your bracket overlay," but the drag to select teams isn't supported in IE because IE is beyond idiotic. So I can't fill out my bracket either.
Should I install Firefox and try for the middle ground?

Yahoo is not fun to work with. I publish stuff through their Contributor Network. It used to be really well funded and the articles paid fairly well because they automatically cross leveled them on all of their platforms and had the social media share buttons on every article. They pulled a lot of the funding when the new CEO took over so now even if they publish an article I wrote on say the Wizards, if you go to the Wizards team profile on Yahoo Sports, you wont find my article and they removed the social media share buttons. They then reset quite a few peoples profiles to zero. Went from getting 10-15 thousand hits an article to hundreds of hits. It is still a great way to get started publishing write-ups if you are looking for beginner experience on publishing articles through the net.
I use Safari but I also couldn't do yahoo's "click and drag" either to pick teams. Now Yahoo's bracket picking is almost as efficient as London's time clock management.

Yahoo is from now on officially not allowed to be in charge of anything. They sent me 10 text messages with my confirmation number after denying that my phone number was a phone number.

It's like here at work. We have to use IE8. We have the option for Chrome, but nothing works since it doesn't automatically accept the swapped security certs and Java and crashes 1/4 of the time. Firefox is similar, but has issues with any flash which I require for legitimate purposes and that means autoplay video ads crash it.
IE has none of those problems but is a steaming pile of crap. It crashes, hangs, and displays everything wrong just because it has the functional capability of a rock.

Either way it shows how ridiculous the Automatic Qualifiers are to get a tournament of the Top 68 teams. 32 of the 68 teams get in by way of automatic qualifiers. 13-19 Cal Poly gets in and SMU at 23-8 stays home. They need to either reevaluate what is Division I college basketball or change the Automatic Qualifiers.

1) Every single ESPN analyst on bracketology last night picked Michigan State to win it all. Every. Single. One. Greenberg, Bilas, Digger, Vitale, Anthony. Probability theory dictates that they're all wrong. Because reasons.
2) I'm picking VT to win it all.
3) Everyone who is having a problem with Chrome should hit F12 and use the tools to get rid of the offending dialog. I haven't looked at the site, but playing with the html usually works for me.

As much as I like Michigan State as a tournament team, they always seem to have a game where the three ball doesn't fall and they lose before they should have.

for the billion dollar brackets we should all make a different bracket and offer to share the $...I mean frankly I don't think I could spend a billion dollars if I tried

One thing I do like about Yahoo is that if you click on the little info symbol by each game it gives you a summary of each teams strengths and weaknesses and what percent of people picked each team in that matchup. You would have to be a paid Insider on E$PN to get info there.

Nice. I normally wind up with somewhere between 25-40% correct, so any real random method of choosing would seem to work better for me. Last year, I busted out all the matchups and stats that I had time for and it turned out awful.

They guys I play fantasy football with sent me an invite, so I went ahead and added my bracket to the TKP group as well. I don't really follow basketball much (at any level), except for what I read here. I ended up with an ACC/Future ACC bias for the most part and Louisville beating UNC for the championship. The one exception to that was UVA losing to Coastal Carolina, though being both a fan of VT (LOLUVA) and a Liberty Alum (Beat Coastal!) I of course wish they could both lose.

I hate having to choose Iowa or Tennessee to advance. I can see Tennessee winning a game or two, but if Iowa wins the play-in game I don't know.
PS, I have Wichita State over Florida in the final. This is different than my billion dollar bracket, which I'm not going to share because I'm greedy and don't want to split the billion dollars. When I win the billion though, I'm going to buy Stadium Woods so we can finally build the damn practice facility, and pay for Metallica to play Enter Sandman live.

You need to create an ESPN account (free) and then you can join the group and fill in a bracket.
Thanks, can I save without bracket being done? Don't see that on page?
Yep, you can save at any point; it doesn't have to be done. You can actually fill out the whole thing, save it, then re-do it completely later on. The picks only lock in when the tourney starts.
How? thanks for speedy reply.
Click "Submit" in the middle.
I'm in. Thanks for help. FYI, you can't submit until entire bracket is completed...
Already picked Coastal Carolina in the 1st round.

You forgot Miami.
Upleg for the quote. No particular reason. Just sort of resonates with me, strangely.
A #1 seed has never lost to a #16 seed. Oh how scrumptious it would be for UVa to have to wear that banner forever. Scrumptious, indeed.
They lost to Chaminade, why not Coastal Carolina?
UPSET ALERT!!!!!
Let's Go Chants!!!!!
I was tempted
I'm in.

In the mean time, yahoo is convinced my phone number is not a phone number.
had the same "problem"
Yahoo is from now on officially not allowed to be in charge of anything. They sent me 10 text messages with my confirmation number after denying that my phone number was a phone number.

The soon-to-be-released web app I'm working on refuses IE8.
IE8 is the new IE6.
As should everything on the internet. That way it can rot then die in the dark hole as it was meant to.
Joined. I know absolutely nothing about bball, so I'll probably kick ass ha
Just pick whichever mascot you think would win in a fight.
That's how Syracuse ended up in my NCG
Did syracuse just keep coming up against a team whose mascot was scurvy in every round?
What's an orange going to do? Drown me in vitamin C?
I'll bet they hurt when they fall on your head. Or maybe the juice stings eyes and open sores.
Accurate.
Is SMU the first AP Top 25 team to miss the tournament?
No, I remember 10ish years ago one of the Utah schools (Utah or Utah State) was #25 and left out.
Either way it shows how ridiculous the Automatic Qualifiers are to get a tournament of the Top 68 teams. 32 of the 68 teams get in by way of automatic qualifiers. 13-19 Cal Poly gets in and SMU at 23-8 stays home. SMU is a national title contender next year though with Mudiay in. They have a chance to be scary good.
I'm a little biased, but I'm a big Michigan State fan. I can't wait until they beat LOLUVA and head to the final four.
Same I'm from michigan and I have Michigan St winning in 3 of my 4 brackets. I hate Michigan though
OK....i'm in....got final 4 of Florida, Arizona, Villanova, & Louisville with Louisville over Florida in the final to repeat as champs...
For my billion dollar bracket I have the same, just with Florida winning the whole shebangibang.
I haven't filled one out yet but here we go:
Right. I think everyone knows how good Izzo iz as a tourney coach, though. He's like Pitino in that regard.
I have Florida in my Billion Dollar Bracket. If I win, I will be sharing with VT.
I'll be using singles as toilet paper.
Coastal Carolina, blue fish, and YOU ! Gotta pick em, gotta love em.
for the billion dollar brackets we should all make a different bracket and offer to share the $...I mean frankly I don't think I could spend a billion dollars if I tried
I haven't researched this myself but I heard the odds of getting a perfect bracket are something like 9 quentillion to 1
I don't think there are that many TKP'ers
I read that in 10 years of monitoring Yahoo and ESPN, nobody has ever done it.
there are close to 9,223,372,036,854,780,000 bracket combinations.
We just need Sam Rogers to sign up.
Finally got yahoo to let me fill out my billion dollar bracket. Time to drop out of school and quit work, I'm living on a billion dollars now.
Magnum PI pull. Classic
To 3000 with you sir!
Is there a TKP group on yahoo?
EDIT: I just went ahead and signed up on ESPN. Surprisingly much easier than Yahoo!
One thing I do like about Yahoo is that if you click on the little info symbol by each game it gives you a summary of each teams strengths and weaknesses and what percent of people picked each team in that matchup. You would have to be a paid Insider on E$PN to get info there.
Then ESPN for some reason thinks I'm an insider, and only for the NCAA tournament. I get the same information from yahoo as I do ESPN.
I just completed my
series of random guessesbracket. Thanks for setting up the group!Coin Flipping and blind guessing are my normal bracket names.
Nice. I normally wind up with somewhere between 25-40% correct, so any real random method of choosing would seem to work better for me. Last year, I busted out all the matchups and stats that I had time for and it turned out awful.
J.J. Redick fan or not, this is some funny S
This one is pretty good as well, I was only sad it didn't have an embed option.

I will never root against a 16 seed. Even if they are LOLUVA. This is actually a bit of an epiphany for me.

Please no one beat me up, but I'm in favor of leaving stadium woods in place.
I wonder how many brackets have UVa being the first #1 to lose to a #16?
Lost count. Dunno. Definitely a higher number than there ever were at their spring games.
Submitted my bracket. Maybe I won't cry after the first day this year!
