I have resigned myself to losing the croots, but keeping baker and nelson (maybe suffren) on top of the others who announced they are staying would be nice

I get the sense that they were the ones who were asked. They were both in the portal with "Do not contact" tags or whatever, they announced the transfer together. I wouldn't count on the big deal recruits coming, but at least the wiring is still in the house, you know?

Her and Georgia announced on IG within 15 minutes of each other. Highly coordinated. Oh well. Hopefully everyone else stays and we don't lose any further commits? I guess Hassett just wanted to follow Georgia and assumes she'll take her spot after her fifth year is over in Kentucky?

Yeah Brooks starting five next year because SEC plays bigs more is likely Amoore, Blue, Hassett, Strack and Silva. Blue might sit behind on the current Kentucky guards. Two seniors in that group I think.

It's also not a coincidence that both these women announced their UK commits the day our new coach arrives on campus. Combined with Brooks never acknowledging his time here on his way there, it feels very coordinated and slimy

Saw some other hot rumors (take for what it's worth) on other boards that the Amoore's actually visited Lexington way back in March while the season was still happening. This all seems extremely coordinated and planned well before UK's interest in Brooks became public.

this sounds like something the internet message board rumor mill pumps out because everyone is salty and full of sour grapes and just looks for a reason to extra justify their bitterness

But I absolutely believe that at least Strack, Amoore, and Kitley knew Brooks was already gone to Kentucky before the ACC Tournament, and they (Strack & Amoore) had their transfer plans in place before the first game in Cassell during the NCAA Tournament.

I saw the same rumor, but the other part of that story is that her parents breed horses, so a trip to Kentucky isn't really that suspicious for a couple from Australia on a rare trip to the US

Could be total rumor or coincidence. But timing is extremely sus, if true. Then her coach just happens to surface as leading candidate for coaching job at UK, which happens to be right in the middle of major horse country where they would have serious interest in being?

The family stuff was pretty well bullshit, before 3 years ago they were begging fans to come to games, this year there were multiple sell outs. If the fans aren't apart of the "family" why play in front of a crowd at all? Good luck to amoore, I hope strack finds her stride, but brooks, leaving like he did, can lose every game from here until he's back coaching at a mid major (which likely isn't gonna happen because he's a salesman and can pull recruits).

If the fans are worth 8-10 points a game(his words) in Cassell don't you think they should at least get a Thank you from Kenny as he moves on in his career?
Log in or register to post comments about the Virginia Tech Hokies
Yes the team was family and it's pretty clear a lot of the players felt that way.
It's VERY curious that there was no formal thank you and i understand why people are upset about that. And anything Brooks does now will feel like too little too late.
Jumping on the Family thing is low hanging fruit by a fanbase that really rallied around the team and is understandable. Was it all a grift by a filthy disingenuous liar to get more money? No. Does it feel that way now? Kinda, yeah

Honestly this one hurts more than Georgia. I thought we still had a chance and I really enjoyed watching her improve throughout the year and build confidence.

I know this has nothing really to do with anything, but, I panicked for no real reason when I saw Liz Kitley's story just now. She's joking about riding around in a mobility scooter.....but she's wearing Kentucky blue Nike pants. 👀
Unless that means she's forgoing the WNBA and joining Kenny's staff. 🫠

After seeing that post, and the timing of the other announcements, it wouldn't shock me at this point. Awfully convenient color and brand to be wearing with everything else going on.

If she wasn't out of eligibility there would be a 100% chance she'd be going to Kentucky to play next year. The loyalty was to Brooks and he just happened to be coaching at Tech.

I figured we'd lose everybody to Kentucky. Kids go to schools for the coaches that recruited them and the coaches that built them up. They loved Kenny and want to keep playing for him; I can't be mad at that.
Coach Brooks brought some great years here. I am thankful for that and wish him the best. Hopefully, Duffy can keep us playing at a high level.

Knew it was coming. Still pisses me off to see it official 😡😤🤬
EDIT: stupid phone put "New" instead of "Knew," I swear
Damn it
So does the coordinated announcement of atrack and georgia mean that this is the extent of those leaving?
Still unknown on Silva and Blue from recruiting class but all indications point to them going to Kentucky

Hassett will likely start for Kentucky next year, she's a stretch 4 not a PG

Has she announced she is going to KY too?
yes

Fuck it all.
Oh well, they're very forgettable now
Fuck you, Kenny Brooks and that fake bullshit family you preached for years. Fucking snake oil grifter

Fully agreed.

mind sussing out that timeline? because it doesn't seem very likely to me and feels like the pepe silvia meme
just because we're upset about it doesn't mean we can just retroactively decide that everyone quit a month ago.

He had me fooled. I thought he was a real townie. But a ton of good folks move away from the 24060 all the time. That's what makes it a special place.
The family stuff wasn't bullshit - his players love him, and traveled with him. Y'all are just pissed off cuz you're not part of the family.
Dude is doing his job and is wonderful to his players. Good luck to you Coach Brooks.

If the fans aren't part of the family, then why are we financing the players?
That's an even better question
If the fans are worth 8-10 points a game(his words) in Cassell don't you think they should at least get a Thank you from Kenny as he moves on in his career?
The ones getting the bag are a part of the family, but the ones paying money in the bag aren't
It was all bullshit to grift more money out of us

My HC donations say otherwise
Thanks I hate it

Dang, when I saw that earlier I didnt register the kentucky pants... makea me sad
Et Tu, Kitley?
She entered the draft but due to injury likely won't play this season for the WNBA so could opt to spend a semester being a Graduate Assistant.

The good news is I havent seen any uk posts that liz has liked
She loved Brooks post when he announced he took the job.
Haven't really looked at much else
ah i dont have twitter, just instagram... she has notably not been liking the uk posts that georgia/clara/lexi have been

Which is part of the problem with these sports being associated with colleges. It's no longer about the colleges. It's about the $$$.
out of eligibility
...where the good Lord split you.
Something something oranges.🍊 welp let's see what Duffy can do. Maybe get that same kind of loyalty as well. You're welcome Kentucky.
