This is a surprise, but I don't have a good reason for it to be.
With the current state of college athletics, I don't know if anything should surprise us
Well French did sat he had a disappointing day in the spring game.
Was frustrated when he committed to BC, and hyped when he flipped to us. Bummer to see him go after just one football season, but he was an early enrollee in 2023, so it's been enough that maybe something would have clicked already. Perhaps seeing Reddish get more time at S over him was the writing on the wall
Didn't we see good things from him last year?
Came in a class of 8 DB's and was moved over to STAR almost immediately. I would guess he was behind Fleming, Reddish probably Alves too. Braylon Johnson and I think Williams were getting some time there as well. Delane even was playing some safety in case the top guys get hurt. And there are way too many good corners for him to have a shot there
He was awful in the spring game. Also the position changes were a red flag. Woodson and Williams wee ahead of him at STAR. Stroman and Jenkins can both play boundary safety. Reddish was playing field but he is definitely better. Cam Fleming looked alright at boundary safety. Meanwhile Cotman looked rotten with his alley fills and tackling. Writing was on the wall.
This may explain his Spring game performance some. He may have already seen the writing on the wall and if his head was not in the game, at his position that can be fatal.... Figuratively.
