Babcock and Pry confirmed the rumors we've been discussing at the Spring Meetings:
Both athletic director Whit Babcock and football coach Brent Pry, who are attending the ACC's spring meetings at The Ritz-Carlton, confirmed the upcoming reveal.
Some quotes I found interesting/exciting:
Pry said he went to some of the Hokies coaches and staffers who played during Tech's heyday — like defensive line coach J.C. Price and safeties coach Pierson Prioleau — to get their input, presenting them with a lineup of options and getting from them a thumbs up or thumbs down. They narrowed down the choices and repeated the process before coming to a final design that Pry said pulls from the Michael Vick days.
"It's a more traditional look and people I believe will appreciate it," said Babcock, who thinks they'll be revealed in "a week or so."
There will likely be more variety with the helmets in this latest iteration. When he was hired in 2014, Babcock aimed to get the VT logo on every helmet design, feeling that the Hokies had gotten away from their brand with various special designs like the Hokies tracks and Flexing Gobbler looks.
Only Frank Beamer's final game at Lane Stadium, when Tech had a No. 25 on one side and the school logo on the other, didn't feature the interlocked VT on both sides of the helmet since Babock began working at Tech.
"So people may see some of our other logos this year," Babcock said, "and I think they'll like it."

Comments
Glad to hear they're mixing up the logos. I think Whit was right in reigning it in back in 2014, we were doing too much (see examples above), but we should have started bringing the throwback logos back over the last few years IMO.
We were definitely doing too much, but we overcorrected. There should be some variety but not too much variety.
Whit has said he personally really likes the old Fighting Gobbler logo (not to be confused with the old
wrinkly sack gobbler logo), so hope to see that incorporated some.
Those matte maroon fightin gobbler helmets
Orange or white helmet with Maroon gobbler would be brilliant.
That's the one. Could look really cool with different color schemes.
Just do not want to see the Fightin' Scrot logo on anything plz.
I'd take it, if only to get more VPI stuff out there.
Yes please I would buy
I did!!!
lucky! That's so awesome. Any where else selling them?
Snagged it off ebay a while back.
This was always my favorite alternative logo.
I wish we would use this more and lean into being TECH.
The flexing Hokiebird and turkey track helmets were pretty embarrassing for a "big time" college football program. Feels like it wasn't a coincidence that we were putting out those cringeworthy looks at the same time the on-field product was also headed in the wrong direction.
I didn't think turkey tracks were that bad. But flexing hokiebird was woof
I'm just saying, if ever we were going to do merit stickers on the helmet, I fully support doing them in the turkey tracks
That would not be terrible
We should have started doing this decades ago
We did....Dooley era (but it was stars)

Different sized rectangles that fit together to be a Hokie stone wall.
Would be a nightmare for the equipment guys though.
This would actually be so sick
Please no Foghorn Hokie on the helmets...that's all I ask.
with our luck there will be no Foghorn Leghorn but we'll get the academic logo instead
The stupid "academic" logo is where I draw the line.
A curved line between the V and the T?
Yes a wimpy looking VT -classic solution looking for a problem.
Perhaps a VT with some crossed swords underneath?
No?
what about an anus
I hate fuckin' degens.
I thought he was referring to these guys:

He was. And I was.
Believe it or not that's actually been done before.

2025
Lane Stadium North
20th anniversary
We roll in wearing helmets with this logo
We should totally do a VT logo with crossed Turkey legs underneath to troll UVA.
Yup, i like this idea

this is exciting news. I'm going to withhold my excitement until the uniforms are actually revealed, though.
Super underrated post. NEVER underestimate Nike putting out something totally fugly.
Andy Bitter coming in with the hot uniform
scoops from the ACC meetings! Awesome!
And not posting it behind a paywall. Apocalypse now
As we are posting about it behind a paywall...
#paywallception /s
HUGE difference.
Andy's employer requires news be paid for.
We pay to complain about the news.

Would you look at that
That was a weird show.
It was Canadian. That sort of explains it all.
I can't help myself.
I'm from the generation where Clarissa explains it all
Me too, but she never explained why my pants got smaller whenever her show was on.
No I think that's the Secret World of Alex Mack...
yes, but man there were some scenes that had me laughing to tears
Hmm...old tweet from Ruhland a few months back, but with Whit's comments about some new helmet logos, this is certainly interesting. Peep the helmet in the back there.
I have also seen this concept by @3DPrintedSports floating around for about a year now. Have to admit, I'm all about seeing us wear this on the field.
By the way, that guy does excellent work. If you ever have the opportunity to work with him or buy one of his products, do it. You won't regret it
Man that would be a clean look.
The hoops team wore this on their jerseys when i was a student 89-93
Yep...and not sure why we ever went away from that look.
The generic "VT" uniforms look soo generic and cheap.

Sounds great.
I'm hoping the next thread we see about this has the actual reveal.
Please. No more teasing.
Could this be a lure to announce a new, well negotiated, Nike uniform contract? Burying the lede?
Nah, we can't live without Nike, so we will re-up our App State level deal for 15 more years.
Only 15?
Good thing it's not long-term.
As an App State alum, their uniforms are objectively better than ours and have been for almost a decade. Pains me to say it
Hype train for the 2024 season intensifies.
