Former Hokie football player Justin Hamilton

Justin Hamilton has accepted a coaching job with the VMI football program. He was serving as the UVA-Wise Defensive Coordinator. Justin is a great coach and former player but an even better person. I hope he continues to climb up the coaching ranks and works his way back to Blacksburg one day!

One of my favorite JH memories...

the thing i most enjoy about this picture is the fact we're playing Louisville, something that won't happen very often with this totally nonsensical ACC scheduling. FIX IT PLEASE!

sorry rant over. good for Hamilton

Lonesome Pine District proud! Didn't know he was plying the coaching trade in my hometown, though. Glad to hear he's making progress up the coaching ladder.

Take the shortest route to the ball and arrive in bad humor.

I'm still sick about the non-PI call against Pitt.

Congrats to Justin on his new job.

Don't know anything about his coaching abilities, but jazzed about VMI getting a quality guy in there. We were always terrible at football while I was there, but I am hopeful he can help to make them at least competitive.

in Fuller we trust

More then that I think time coaching at a SMC will do him good for solidifying how young men ought to conduct themselves with respect and maturity, which he can take with when he possibly moves up or returns to Blacksburg.

In his book Frank spends a lot of time talking about his time at the Citadel and how it built up his foundations as a coach, gave him a very strong lesson in doing more with less which he certainly took to heart. He also has on multiple times spoken about how he was affected by the quality of men he coached there. I believe Shane also got his start there too.

My first year at Liberty, our kicker lost us a lot of games including missing a potential game tying FG with less than a minute left against VMI for homecoming. We were only 4/11 on FGs that year, and only won one game, we did get a better coach the next year though and watching the games became much more enjoyable.

poor ol' hunter cantwell

Are those teeth?

Pretty sure those are the nose plugs from the bloody nose he already had in that game. That game is one of my favorite defensive efforts, that qb got murdered.

Yep, nose plugs. I remember that one well. The kid was getting absolutely annihilated, but I have to say, he had the stones to keep coming back onto the field long after I thought he was beyond battered.

"Exit light..."

What year was that? I feel a burning desire to find this game and watch it in its entirety.

Speaking of watching games, does anyone know what happened to Hokietapes on Youtube? Usually if a channel/video is taken down for DMCA claims, it will have it mentioned along with who made the DMCA claim, but it appears to me like the account just vanished.

I can summarize this game in 5 words: "You broke his nose, Angus!"
You broke his nose

A decade on TKP and it's been time well spent.

JHam was the definition of a team player. The guy switched positions multiple times and didn't complain. I just wish we would have put him on D right away. Congrats on the new job!!

You, sir, have an abolsolute classic TKP handle- Jason in Arlington.

anyway - cool about Hamilton!

I dunno, I think it's a little out of whack.

Is it the real Jason in Arlington?

I'm the real HOAT...

Thank ya' Sir. Ole Frank still thinks I'm outta whack!

Tyrod did it Mikey, Tyrod did it!!

Congrats to Justin! He was one of my favorite people when I was at VT.

Yeah, Hunter Cantwell had a rough day but like already stated he kept coming back for more. He had a lot of heart and needed every ounce of it.

It was ONE of the best all around VT Defensive games that I can remember in recent memory. Capped off with a James Anderson INT return for a TD.
