Let's go!

Worth noting, he announced his commitment from Bull & Bones in Blacksburg

My post from the recruiting thread:

Very happy to have beaten Shane out for this kid, but he's a pretty serious project if he stays at QB. His highlights are mostly him locking in on a single WR and tossing it way down the field after said WR gets behind the defense. There are a couple of other short and intermediate throws, but the film mostly shows his ability to drop dimes (and he's pretty good at that).

Really good athlete, throws well on the run, but again, he's locked in the entire time. He runs well, but there isn't a whole lot of film on what he looks like at the mesh point, so we have no read on how he handles the zone read... In the end, he isn't looking at the defense very much, if at all. None of this means he can't be good at the next level, but kids who spend their high school careers in highly "predictable outcome" type of offenses tend to struggle with the transition. At least for a period of time.

The moral of the story here is this: We picked up a great athlete who happens to play QB in high school who will be a project at the QB position.

Is coronavirus over yet?

nice assessment, thanks for sharing -- i saw him listed as ATH in multiple places (sometimes as QB/ATH). Does anyone have any insight if our staff envisions developing him at QB or bringing him in to play a different position?

Multiple South Carolina fans on r/cfb indicated he was offered as an ATH which turned him off. Obviously take that with a grain of salt since who knows what actually happens behind the scenes. However, if true, I'd assume we offered him as a QB.

I think VT is in a position where they can give him some time to develop as a QB since they currently have several horses in the stable, and he'll get to see what he needs to do to QB at this level.

100% offered as a QB. That was one of the deciding factors since SCar offered him as ATH aiming to use him as a DB I believe.

We were only taking 2 QBs this cycle. It was between him and Washington (https://247sports.com/player/malik-washington-46133328/), whoever was going to be first to commit

And by 2 QBs you mean Kelden Ryan PLUS the first to commit between Brand and Washington, correct?

that's how i took it, yes

Yes.
And to that, Shane and Co. just flipped QB commit Cutter Woods from Wake.
Not saying Brand's commit to the good guys might have contributed to the BIG push to flip Woods....

I have not been following recruiting as much, but that Washington kid looks like a stud

That sounds kind of like QP2 to me! I like it!

I will choose to be excited about this news.
