HOKIES!

From the 2018 VT-uva game-"This is when LEGENDS are made!"

I was like

6'9" center? That's pretty damn tall!

And then I noticed the sport, and was like

6'9" center? That's pretty damn short!

But 259 is thicc for a C. That's a PF body right there.

I got so pumped thinking we pull a 4* OL.

I guess I'll take it.

From the link:

The Hokies are getting a very good piece in Gurdak. He is the product of two prestigious heavyweight programs in the Washington Catholic Athletic Conference - Paul VI and Gonzaga. He is a strong, tough prospect with a terrific motor and an arsenal of ambidextrous post moves. A heady player, Gurdak is skilled in reading defenses, finding the open teammate out of a double team, and tracking rebounds. He's a bear to box out and looks to impose his will on every possession. He has set himself apart from many other bigs as he's added more mobility and lateral quickness to his skill set, resulting in establishing position early and defending with his feet first.

Damn right we'll take it!

Sounds like one Keve Aluma to me. Glad to have him!

Plan for the worst and hope for the best, not the other way around.

If we can hold onto him, this is awesome. Any big that can move and pass in Young's system will thrive. Plus always better to have taller players in basketball- regardless.

Big time recruiting win, hope we see him practicing in Blacksburg 12 months from now!

Would Gurdak be the highest regarded center coming in directly from HS that VT has ever recruited? I've been following since 1973. Maybe Dale Solomon? Who am I overlooking?

Yes,that's the Hokie Bird riding a camel. Why'd you ask?

Ryan Jones (2024) is the highest rated C ever recruited by Tech and #5 overall prospect for the Hokies, according to 247.

okay...I thought Jones was a stretch 4; in his highlights, he posts up very little. However, as CMY says, "you are what you can guard".

I'm just going off of what they were recruited as on 247.

Now let's round out this class with either Nate Ament, Jordan Scott, or Acaden Lewis

I will choose to be excited about this news.

I used to be with it, but then they changed what it was. Now what I'm with isn't it, and what's it seems weird and scary to me.

A decade on TKP and it's been time well spent.
