Alight, I'm going to start this off in a direction you all probably weren't expecting. So I never got around to playing Deathloop when it came out a couple years back, and I think I need to go back and play it. And now I'm even more sure of it, knowing the guy who voiced Colt Vahn, Jason E Kelley, is a Hokie, as evidenced by this interview I stumbled upon.

I think it was released in September, so not a '24 release, but Dave the Diver has been a very pleasant surprise.

Just finished Alan wake 2; had a blast, what a wild game
Phenomenal game. It topped the first game in every conceivable way, if you ask me. I had to force myself to finish the first AW, but I found myself hoping that the second one never ended. Have you tried any of the DLC yet?
Ended up collecting everything in GoW Ragnarok Valhalla. Did not expect to get that sucked in to the DLC. How the heck was that free?!
My new Xbox should be arriving today in preparation for CFB 25. What should I play before the big release date?
Ended up starting cyberpunk and holy shit it is awesome. Glad I got to avoid the launch cluster fuck and just enjoy this game. Really wish I had the time to sit and play for a few continuous hours, the world they built is incredible and I could waste some time just wondering around.
I've been playing Skull and Bones. Season 2 just dropped. A bit light on content, but the sailing and naval combat is great, and the graphics are superb.
I'll have to keep that on my radar. I do get in moods for tactic/strategy games and you don't see (m)any with naval combat and piracy.
There's not a lot of tactic/strategy in it, save for ship improvement and assignment to defending manufactories (which is horribly tuned, from what I hear, that's new for S2), but there is a lot of naval combat and piracy. That's the fun part of the game. Some days I just log on and sail around sinking whatever the hell I want to sink.
Okay, I was thinking more of an xcom set on the seas situation. Floating around blowing stuff up sounds like a great way to decompress after a long day. I currently use No Man's Sky to fill that need and am looking forward to the expedition that started today.
it's older, but I like rebel galaxy for that niche. Space combat, but the main battles are done with broadsides and the flight is planar for large ships (fighters/drones can go all over, but those are just targets for you) so it feels like naval battles. Something really nice is the music is excellent and they intentionally did not include an autopilot so you get to experience moving between locations while listening to the soundtrack (they do have warp speed so you can move pretty quick). They also have a lot of unexpected events you can stumble onto in between main goals so that often makes it worthwhile to take a scenic route.
Other than that, pretty typical space combat sim: do missions, get money, upgrade ship, purchase better ship, do better missions. GTA style standing with various factions so if you kill the right people, other people won't shoot at you as much.
They came out with a prequel that is basically a remake of wing commander privateer, but I actually appreciate the first one more.
Beat Final Fantasy XVI in the winter and FFVII Rebirth in the spring. Playing Dave the Diver now. Eagerly anticipating NCAA Football but I'm trying to keep my expectations in check for that.
I really want to give Baldur's Gate 3 a go but I just don't have the time for that right now so I bought Belatro instead.
I've heard the newest season of Diablo 4 has drastically improved the quality of life and overall endgame fun. Anybody hopped in yet?

Getting a PS5 for my 11 year old boys for Xmas and need some game suggestions. We've been basically in video game purgatory since they were born on everything other than the Switch, so I'm totally out of the loop on what games would fit their personalities.
They both like Fortnite (blech) and Diablo 3. One likes puzzles (Mario Odyssey/Metroid Dredd) and open world games (BoTW/Fenyx Rising). The other is a sport nut (already planning on NCAA '25) and likes more straightforward action games games. Puzzles are ok, but he gets frustrated if he can't figure out where to go next.
Any suggestions would be great. Bonus points for games with local multiplayer.
for the younger one I would highly suggest any of the Little Big Planet games and the Lego franchises (e.g., Skywalker Saga, Harry Potter, etc). For the older one I'm probably out of ideas other than consider getting PS Plus Premium - you'll pay out the nose for the subscription, but you'll get access to a huge library of digital games and online play, and that will give you a chance to really get a feel for what they want to play.
They're twins, so both 11 (will be 12 in March). Just have very different interests in games. They've played the Lego stuff on Switch and like them for a while, but they're both kind of over it now. They're looking to big kid games.
If they dont know what they dont know then I'll stick to my PS Plus recommendation. Other big kid games that I can vouch for -
Also, Sony recently announced they are making progress on bringing some of their PS3 lineup of games to the PS5. What that actually looks like is TBD, but that could mean games specifically made for the PS3 would be available online to purchase, could be part of their cloud streaming offering, or may be locked into the PS Plus subscription. In any of those scenarios, that could open a dramatic amount of other games (Jak & Daxter trilogy being a personal favorite) for
youyour boys.Hogwarts Legacy is a good single-player game that's on sale right now for $30.
I've enjoyed Diablo IV.
Skyrim was phenomenal, but don't know how well it looks on the most modern consoles or how expensive it is.
Not necessarily game related but just have to give a shout out to Corsair. I have a Corsair power supply that got fried in a recent thunderstorm. It was within the 10 year warranty, so I submitted a claim and they sent me a prepaid label to return it and a replacement unit, no questions asked.
Definitely recommend them if you're building your own rig.
anyone else playing Star Wars: Hunters on switch/mobile? i've been playing on mobile and it's p fun. 4v4 team shooter type with a few different modes.
