I've added an artist's rendering of what might be taking place on the field at the top of this post. I think you'll find that it's incredibly accurate.

Perspective. The QB is closer to the camera and thus appears taller. They did this for the Lord of the Rings trilogy. We're using this to cause dismay among our opponents.
Did I let the secret out? Whoops!

Just like any social media tool, Twitter is what you make of it.
I only follow people related to my favorite sport teams. This basically allows me to get the fastest possible updates on what I find interesting, while avoiding people who would just fill my timeline up with useless junk.

Well that sucks the media isn't allowed. I guess that means no videos on Hokiesports.com either.
Sorry Andy! However, I'm still looking forward to your interviews.

Sounds like a fun day for you Andy. Sitting outside Rector Field House waiting for someone to emerge. Is the closed to media idea a VT one or is that decision made by the scouts?

Turkey leg for Bitter if/when he posts on this page for the copious amount of time he took to draw up the scene in the field house. Getting the shading and background just right -especially with that terrible lighting, simply amazing. You can tell he's a true artisan of his craft...

Beamer always had a soft spot for that knucklehead. Sad thing is he probably has a decent shot of getting some workouts as opposed to other players I would really support making an NFL team that might not get a call.

some early numbers on Logan- Looked good, strong throwing motion and more of a complete look.
Mission accomplished. Logan Thomas connects on 56-59 passes today at #VT pro day w Jim Harbaugh & Chip Kelly among audience.— George Whitfield Jr. (@georgewhitfield) March 19, 2014

Just something to keep in mind - QBs are expected to perform at a very high level at their pro days. Scripted practices, throwing to receivers they're familiar with, in a place they're familiar with.
Not saying Logan didn't have a good day, just something to remember when we start seeing more pro day stuff.

Per Andy Bitter his WR's today were DJ Coles, Pat Kelly from Liberty and a TE Robert Asmar from William & Mary. huh interesting.. wonder if Logan worked with these guys since he finished the bowl game with whittfield?
I also think this post/news has alot to do with people not giving Logan credit at the QB position and saying he's no good and he should be a TE. All of Logan's snaps were from under center today there's a lot more going on with that than just getting a ball from the air.

If I am not mistaken, Tech has usually allowed seniors from several of the smaller schools that don't draw the interest for a Pro Day to work out at Tech Pro Days so they get a chance to be seen by the majority of scouts.

LOLUVA had their pro day last week. The two big things that came out of their pro day was Morgan Moses is down something like 20 lbs, and that everyone at the pro day was surprised that the NFL guys are looking for players who know how to win.

Ehhhh ... those numbers sound a little inflated to me. He certainly had a good day but from my vantage (right by the doors), I seem to remember more than three passes hitting the ground.

Me gusta. Shows willingness to play in a pro-style West Coast offense and gives scouts a prime look at his drops. Hopefully he rebounded from those "lazy footwoork" comments from Mayock.

Mayock I thought fell from his perch during the combine. He clearly was searching because he hadn't watched enough tape the way he had in past years. He'd punt the usual confident assessment to other guys like Kurt, who isn't a tapeworm at this point in his life either.
On the exchange about "lazy footwork" Mayock punted the footwork assessment to Kurt who handled it like a hot potato with comments that seemed to mean something different to each listener and then it came back to Mayock who said there is not much there.
Not much there because they hadn't watched the tape? because a guy dropping back without a snap to throw a 40 yard pass just doesn't need alot of footwork? because they wanted to see some faux Gene Kelly dance moves from Logan? because when LT3 was dancing in our "VT special collapsing pocket" - translated in English as "unblocked pass rusher", he looked like he had poor footwork?, because he went from sophomore year timing passes to get open and I'll throw it to you during his Jr and Sr years?
Sorry, but I watched alot of the combine and Mayock sucked this year in general. He and Rich fuddy duddy seemed like the HS nerds annoyingly having shown up and being given airtime. Terrible pairing. They should have stuck Mayock the film nerd interjecting his film study into a revolving cadre of former NFLers and Rich fuddy duddy. That way Mayock could have stuck to studying film, the former NFLers could lend their expertise and personality in an appropriate way and the whole affair could have been carried off more credibly. Mayock has zero personality, and what he has mirrors Eisen, with the lack of film study this was the worst effort I've seen out of the NFL network to date.
Look at Whitfield's resume of guys he has worked with. Certainly you could say that he overreached on the WR, Johnny Football, and LT, but really? The guy certainly could have found some guys who were more of a "sure thing" than LT3. Doubt he takes this risk without believing that LT3 has the goods to get it done at the next level.
It will be interesting, who is right and who is wrong. Mayock was a R5 plus kinda pick. Big hair same assessment. McShay seemed to suggest 3rd round maybe 2nd. I think McShay will be conservative (2nd or 3rd). Mayock and big hair saying that some idiot will pick him is a cop out. Let them displace that idiot if they have superior wisdom and judgement. Will never happen, because they don't.

Not sure your detailed assessment is 100% but when I watched the combine my continual thought was that I could have found better commentary at the local Applebee's but without all the cutaways to interviews to guys I didn't care about instead of watching the guys perform I did care about.

Did not see any national coverage of the Hokies Pro Day. None of the major media sites give it any mention. Glad Andy was there and TKP has some coverage or I would never know it happened. Even hokiesports.com does not mention it. WTH?

Oh well. I am disappointed VT didn't try to put anything out there even for VT consumption. LT had a good combine and I think there is interest from football fans around the country about how he did in his Pro Day. There were two well known head coaches at the event so the NFL was defintiely interested in someone there. We'll see what happens on draft day.

The artist's rendering has a distinct Norman Rockwell feel.
Possibly my favorite Andy Bitter quote to date:
a little help...
Is Logan throwing or catching? *DUCKS*
/sarcastica
Well the QB looks much taller than the receiver in the masterpiece...so I would say...Bucky Hodges is throwing to him?
Perspective. The QB is closer to the camera and thus appears taller. They did this for the Lord of the Rings trilogy. We're using this to cause dismay among our opponents.
Did I let the secret out? Whoops!
Well, the first thing an NFL team will have to do is work on that throwing motion.
Andy Bitter thanked you on Twitter, pajokie

Well after todays news from Joe that might not be a bad thing.
Yeah no joke. Crazy
But I'm sure Mayock or Kiper will be there with plenty of quotes for us to chew on

Seems to me like Andy put his sassy pants on this morning.
Bitter by name, Bitter by reputation
Andy, you really need to get them to bump up the art department....either that or convince McFarling to try to sneak in.
(EDIT: Ok, I mis-spelled McFarling...fixed)
ZOMFG Bitter that made my day. This should go to the print edition.
Beamer always had a soft spot for that knucklehead. Sad thing is he probably has a decent shot of getting some workouts as opposed to other players I would really support making an NFL team that might not get a call.
I would give him a long shot at best. He's a headcase with an average leg, exactly the opposite of what you want in an NFL kicker.
Hey, he could wind up kicking for a team one day. Just ask this guy.
Put him in! He'll kick the piss out of it!
Some video

Oh great, I can't wait to let this buffer for 2342 hours.

Logan is from Lynchburg, so he may have worked with Kelly when he was at home.

A classy move, but did we let UVA players in? PLEASE NO!
He didn't say high schools...he said small schools..BIG difference
+1. lol, well played...
LOLUVA had their pro day last week. The two big things that came out of their pro day was Morgan Moses is down something like 20 lbs, and that everyone at the pro day was surprised that the NFL guys are looking for players who know how to win.
ODU did the same in Norfolk. Had guys from local small schools.
Whitfield seems pretty happy about it.
Word on the street is that Bridgwater looked rather pedestrian at his pro day.
Ehhhh ... those numbers sound a little inflated to me. He certainly had a good day but from my vantage (right by the doors), I seem to remember more than three passes hitting the ground.
Could Whitfield be saying that he completed 56 to 59 passes, rather than 56 of 59 passes?

They posted a short video on Hokiesports.com.
you probably didn't hear much about it because Media was locked out of it
You would think hokiesports would have a story about it. Something the national press could pick up.
I'm not sure why you think the national press cares about VT football that much?
Let's face it, the only pro days that get any sort of national coverage are $EC pro days.
