Glad to see he is going to get a legitimate shot at a starting job. What are your thoughts?

What a great day to be a Hokie! Congrats Michael!
Mixed feelings. Glad he's on the East Coast...
No talk of him starting ... yet.
SO MUCH NEWS
I want to see him have a career year. NY Media. 1 year deal.
Feast or famine?! Hoping its a feast!
What a great Friday night newsflow... usually all the bad stuff gets put out after hours on Fridays!
They also released Sanchez, so it's going to be either him or Geno. Just glad he isn't on the Eagles anymore.
it was always going to be either Vick or Smith...Vick has lost some fumbles in his day, but I don't think any were as embarrassing as this one
the infamous, one and only.... 'butt fumble' already a seasoned classic.
This one is bad but the Tahj Boyd fumbleception is my favorite of all time.
Just moved to NY. Now I have reason to support both local clubs! Geno is one of the least impressive starting QB's. If VICK stays healthy, we all know what'll go down. There's a reason why our most famous alum has signed two seperate $100mil contracts. #CATCHMEIFYOUCAN
I'd love to see Vick make a three year injury free run to finish out his career. As a hokie fan I can't stop watching this guy -- but he has to stitch whole seasons together.
I don't have a ton of hope with the move to the Jets as far as deep runs into the post season, but feel good about winning a starting role.
Maybe I'm late to the party on this one, but did anybody else notice he's signing with his right hand? I didn't know he wrote righty
There is a story about when the team was forced to an indoor practice in a basketball gym at the 1998 Music City Bowl because of the torrential downpour that was Nashville that entire time, game included. Some of the seniors were supposedly ragging on him about being such a superstar so he promptly went to midcourt with a football and threw it through the basket left handed, he then proceeded to go to the end of the court and throw it through right handed. Apparently he actually is more a righty, but his left arm is stronger, which allows him to throw the football farther.
Congrats on your "hoops wiz" tag!! haven't heard that story either..sounds pretty cool though
I used to work at Hibbet Sports in the mall in C-burg (they've since been shut down) but whenever Hokie athletes came into the store the manager would get them to sign the wall in the back. When I started, Michael Vick's signature was on the wall and the first thing i noticed was that it looked like it had been written by a righty because the direction of the writing went at a sharp angle up and to the right. I 'knew' he was a lefty so I assumed it was forged. I guess it was legit. It's probably been painted over by now, sadly :(
Thanks, just woke up so I appreciate you pointing it out to me. Salut, Joe.
That's sad if that kind of wall got painted over. That's the kind of thing that you cut the drywall out and put it in a picture frame and hang on a wall as art if you are a Hokie fan.
another legendary urban legend about a legend.
I vaguely remember that story.
I think it was printed up somewhere right after it happened.
awesome stuff. thanks for posting!
It was detailed in the ESPN Magazine article on him to start the 2000 season. I know this because its sitting on the shelf next to me
Probably where I saw it as well, as I have that issue framed somewhere as well.
I don't know how common it is, but I had a friend growing up who threw and hit lefty but wrote with his right.
I have very mixed feelings about this one, I'm a Virginian who grew up loving the Hokies and... the Patriots! I hate and I mean HATE the Jets with a passion. This really is a Catch-22 situation for me.
Growing up in New England, I was and am somewhat a Patriots fan. You can be a fan of Vick and still hate the Jets, I will be doing that as well.
It's not as though their offensive line is gonna offer him any better protection than Philly did.
I'm a Panthers fan and I remember when Hall and him were on the Falcons I absolutely hated having to pull against them so much.
