Pick 6 2024 - Week 8

WEEK 7 RECAP
MAXANDCHEESE reached the 6-0 summit AND was only 2 points off the tiebreaker score! Good thing we're not playing by Price Is Right rules.

This week's games are presented with the states' top crop (per very lazy Google results) see if you can guess the teams without looking up the rankings!

I had a thought and want to know if people would be on board with it.

I would like your opinions
I pick 6 of the best/most interesting matchups each week. CBS allows for up to 31 games to be selected. How would everyone feel about the last week being a collective Hail Mary week? Everyone has a chance to go 31-0 and maybe snatch a championship from the jaws of mediocrity? Leave your thoughts and your picks below. I am planning to select every conference championship game as well, P4 AND G5.

THE GAMES
6 ACC Commish&Refs at Cardinals (East Coast) (FMiami -3.5)

CORN at 16 CORN (Who?siers -5.5)

7 CORN at 11 SOYBEANS (Ala. -2.5)

24 CORN at 22 SOYBEANS (Missed again -1.5)

5 COTTON at 1 COTTON (uT -3.5)

17 CATTLE State at SOYBEANS (KSt. -3.5)

SUMMARY
6 Miami at Louisville (Miami -3.5)

Nebraska at 16 Indiana (Indy -5.5)

7 Alabama at 11 Tennessee (Ala. -2.5)

24 Michigan at 22 Illinois (Mich. -1.5)

5 Georgia at 1 Texas (Tex. -3.5)

17 Kansas State at West Virginia (KSt. -3.5)

I was looking at the games this week and couldn't decide who I ilked and then I come here and you picked all the worst games!!!! Good job, cause I hate this week.

This week is going to be hard to make picks, but I feel like it's going to be a fun one to watch. Everyone seems beatable and we get to watch them all since VT is a Thursday game.

Oh yeah I'm hoping for a lot of saturday chaos

6 ACC Officiating at Louisville (Miami -3.5) - God I hope they fuck up, but I do think they're the better team.
Nebraska at 16 Indiana (Indy -5.5) - Cig just wins, google him.
7 Alabama at 11 Worse Orange uniforms(Ala. -2.5) - Alabama will probably do something stupid like put double numbers on the field for a FG.
24 Michigan at 22 Illinois (Mich. -1.5) - Michigan wins as long as they embrace their identity as the fourth service academy.
5 Georgia at 1 Texas (Tex. -3.5) - Gordan Ramsey is going to have Texas ready to go.
17 Kansas State at Cousins (KSt. -3.5) - IDK, but fuck WVU

I like the double or nothing last round idea, but 31 picks is insane. I think it would be fun to tie it to a stat. Since this is the pick 6, tying it to the defense's INT total could be fun, but APR sacks, Kyron/Tuten TDs, or something else that would land in the teens - 20s would be fun.

I picked 5 road teams. It'll be amazing if I get more than 2 right

I'm on board with a hailmary at the end of the year. 31 games once a season would be fun, I think.

So like college football and the playoffs i fully support making the regular season worthless and letting some one with a mediocre season have a chance to win it all at the end, it's only fitting. Go all 31 games and let's see who wins.

EDIT: better idea, find 12th place and then have enough games that they have a possibility of winning.

6 ACC Officiating at Louisville (Miami -3.5) - ACC leadership is too invested to allow them to lose now.
Nebraska at 16 Indiana (Indy -5.5) - I like the Nebraska fans.
7 Alabama at 11 Worse Orange uniforms(Ala. -2.5) - I want chaos for the SEC and Alabami in particular.
24 Michigan at 22 Illinois (Mich. -1.5) - Michigan because their name sounds less french.
5 Georgia at 1 Texas (Tex. -3.5) - Georgia because that's the most SEC chaos.
17 Kansas State at Cousins (KSt. -3.5) - Couch potatoes.

This is going to be great for the ACC.

Miami
Indiana
Tennessee
Illinois
K State
Texas

I like the idea of a hail Mary last week, but 31 seems like way too many. Maybe 9 rivalry games (1 in each conference for the next to last week) and then all 9 championship games in the final week?

My wife takes the kids and leaves the house while I watch my Hokie games.........nuff said

9 sounds more manageable for sure. With the SEC's traditional cupcakes-before-championships scheduling meaning there may not be spreads for quite a few games so the exact number will certainly be less than 31.

A decade on TKP and it's been time well spent.

6 Miami at Louisville (Miami -3.5)

Nebraska at 16 Indiana (Indy -5.5)

7 Alabama at 11 Tennessee (Ala. -2.5)

24 Michigan at 22 Illinois (Mich. -1.5)

5 Georgia at 1 Texas (Tex. -3.5)

17 Kansas State at West Virginia (KSt. -3.5)

And as someone having a mediocre pick 6 season- the more chaos the merrier!

From the 2018 VT-uva game-"This is when LEGENDS are made!"

6 Miami at Louisville (Miami -3.5)
Nebraska at 16 Indiana (Indy -5.5)
7 Alabama at 11 Tennessee (Ala. -2.5) by double digits. Easy.
24 Michigan at 22 Illinois (Mich. -1.5)
5 Georgia at 1 Texas (Tex. -3.5)
17 Kansas State at West Virginia (KSt. -3.5) by double digits. Easy.

For the final week question, while I like the idea of 31 picks, I like it in a different way than CBS would score it...like if you only get the point differential of your picks. Meaning if you go 18-13, you get 5 points. If you go 23-8, you get 15 points. If you go 12-19, you get MINUS 7 points. But CBS isn't set up to manage things that way, so the standing page can't reflect that.

So, that being said, I like the idea of a Triple pack...18 games. That should be enough opportunity for someone to overcome a missed week AND a dog turd of a week...all in one.

What about 6 dog turd weeks?

If we could stay away from the SEC in the future that would help me a lot

I try to spread it out amongst the P4 conferences, but some weeks it feels like everyone's allergic to quality matchups.

A decade on TKP and it's been time well spent.

I'll take the quality games over a bunch of 20+ point spreads.

I was just joking because that's where I keep losing games.

My perfect three average is off after last week.
