The Awards roll in for Tuten - named Walter Camp National Player of the Week

Didn't see this posted yesterday and felt like it deserved its own thread after it was announced.

He was also named the Doak Walker RB of the Week

As well as the Shrine Bowl Offensive Breakout Player of the Week

Have to imagine you're going to start seeing his name pop up on some end of year awards watch lists very soon. The nation is starting to take notice of our star RB.

Congratulations tuten!! He is the heart of our team, and we will be in a pickle next year without him. Pry better run him 20 plus per game if he wants to get to 8 wins. He is the man on this team, and the offense flows through him

Hopefully we can pay TreVon Henderson in the portal this off season. Second choice would be Tahj Brooks from Texas Tech

Your ability to not enjoy any thread in the moment astounds me. Let's just enjoy the RB we have. He's a damn good one and deserves all these awards and recognition coming at him

Here lies It's a Stroman Jersey I Swear, surpassed in life by no one because he intercepted it.

I was making a joke. Come on man. Both of those guys -should - also be out of eligibility. Come on guys- its a running joke. lighten up

Man, I'm looking at Tuten getting all this recognition as ammo for Pry and Bowen to take to the recruiting trail to bring in another star back going forward. You talk about what VT football is historically known for, and if you're not talking about a top tier mobile QB or a great defense, you're talking about a team built off running the ball down your damn throat.

So to have a star RB getting nationally recognized and awarded only 2 seasons after VT was basically left for dead by national pundits, it shows you that we got something special working in our run game scheme. If you're a RB thinking you have more to show, you have to think VT is on the portal radar for them this winter.

Stack it with Khalil who transferred, blew up, and now is having a decent NFL career, you can build a pretty good story about why you'd want to come here as a talented and underutilized back somewhere else. Sure, that was a different staff, but you can sell the scrappy, underappreciated, blue collar (throw as many as you want in there) brand hard.

Yeah I mean if Tuten keeps this up and follows it up like Khalil with making a bit of a name for himself in the league, then you absolutely have a great story to sell to any RB in the portal. Come to Tech with a chip on your shoulder and walk out with a job in the NFL.

AJ Turner from Marshall?

Only a Sophomore. Went to Phoebus in Hampton.

Dc was just making the statement that we will need a back next year. I can say that tech would have been a 4 win team this year without him. Drones is a great player, but you can't ride his passing to victory on a regular basis. And we certainly don't have anyone right now behind tuten that can carry the rock 15 to 30 times a game.
Congratulations again to tuten, as he is the mvp of our team

Well deserved for Tuten. Glad to see more than just Hokies showing him some love.

Very impressive that Tuten can earn national weekly recognition while Jeanty's out there doing his thing this season.

Every second counts

I mean barring injury, Jeanty is going to literally run away with all the national awards, but if Tuten can keep this up (and outside of that Clemson game where I do think our line could get exposed again like it was against UofL and NCSU last year, there's no reason to think he can't over the rest of the season), he very well could end up as a finalist for some very prestigious end of season awards.

And honestly, if we had leaned on Tuten a bit more in the first few weeks, maybe he's already up there, high on these award watch lists.

Jeanty is also going to win the Heisman- At Boise State... something no Virginia Tech Hokie has ever done. Frustrating.

The frustrating thing is Vick admittedly didn't win because they said they were never going to award a freshman. Then they changed their minds later.
