The Ladies host Rutgers today at 6PM. The game will be broadcast on the ACC Network extra platform. Rutgers is 4-0 with none of the games close against typical early season opponents: Manhattan, Cornell, NJIT and Iona; all games were home games. VT is 3-1 with the loss to Iowa and the three wins against less challenging opponents.
Senior Destiny Adams, 6'3" Guard/Forward is the leader for the Scarlet Knights averaging 27 points and 14 rebounds per game. She is also averaging 3.8 fouls per game. Rutgers has three other players averaging 10 or more points per game. Chyna Cornwell, 6'3" center, who does not start but plays 22 min/game is also averaging a double double with 10.3 point and 11.5 rebounds per game.

Rutgers may a challenge heightwise for the Hokies; three of their starters are 6'3" and two bench players are 6'3". Ramiya White and Hazelton may have to play significant minutes tonight. The Hokies should be quicker; but there may be a problem keeping Rutgers off the boards.
Rutgers is not a strong 3 point team, shooting only 25% from beyond the arc; but they shoot 45% overall, probably because their taller players get many opportunities in the paint, especially against their early season foes. Depending on which group of officials is calling the game, Rutgers could have foul problems. They have three players that average 3.8 fouls per game and a fourth that averages 3.3.. They average 14.3 assists and 14 turnovers per game; they also average 5.8 blocks per game.

I'm not a gambler; so I don't how to find a line for this game. But ESPN Matchup Predictor says the Hokies likelyhood of a win in 91.8%. Unless White or Hazelton is in the game, Rutgers will have at least three and maybe 4 girls taller than any Hokie on the court. This will certainly be an opportunity for CMD to learn a lot about her team.
LE'T'S GO HOKIES!

Let's Go......
... HOKIES!
We are not having a good shooting night so far.
Just got home and tuned in late in the 1st. Is it just me or is the crowd a little bigger this game than the last few?
Crowd does seem bigger
I'll take it. I was at the game @ Rutgers last year as well as GGC and it was a really fun game.
Darn tootin!
Not a bad foul for Wenzel to force on McMiller.
That's #2 on her already. Maybe get a 3rd early in the 2nd and get her on the bench.
Sloppy. Michaux has to make those bunnies under the basket and we can't keep turning it over on The inbounds
Michaud missing again from point blank.
Gotta finish.
Suffern can be really good. That was a sweet drive with no hesitation.
End to end like a rocket for Sufferen
Wenzel and Micheaux a combined 3 for 24 from the floor. Imagine if they had only hit 8 for 24
...and start 0 for 1 in the second half.
Suffren just ran off hurt
Tied at 36 at the half for those that can't watch.
Wenzel is good at drawing fouls
Micheaux 10 points and 15 rebounds
She should easily be at 20 points. So many point blank bricks.
Most of the rebounds and misses came on put backs for her own shots. Miss a bunny, get the rebound - repeat. Be nice to see a kick out pass on one of those rebounds instead of shot number 4 against 3 defenders.
Wow that was a bailout whistle on Baker. Waited until ball had been rebounded to blow foul
They are letting Adams get away with a hook every time down the floor now.
...and then they just showed a replay of all her hooks for baskets.
Gutsy play by Tilly
BISCUITS
Suffren is MVP
Step on their neck
What I have learned tonight
This women's team is tough and physical.
We could've scored 120 if we hit our averages.
Correction...we shot our average thanks to an absurd 4th quarter
13-42 in the First Half
22-36 in the Second
2-8 from range in the first half
4-7 in the second
45% shooting, 40% from range, but the story of the day was 21 offensive rebounds to 20 defensive rebounds
The entire team had an AATO margin of 18:1
Give Carleigh and Rose alot of credit. Forgot the first half and went 10 for 14 in the second half. FAM
FAM. That 4th quarter was a lot of fun!
I guessed wrong about the height advantage. I thought we would need R. White or Hazelton at some point; but I don't think they played. Great effort by the whole team to outrebound a taller team that was 6th in the nation in rebounding.
nice game, really from late in the 2nd quarter on. loved the focus in the 4th. don't know what the analytics say but Suffren needs to be on the floor
She's fast, folks
My wife asked me why she didn't take the open threes.
Suffren then attacked the rim, drew the hoop and the harm, and sank the FT.
I said, "because she gets the 3, plus the foul on the other team"
Looks like the key was for me to stop watching.... left the office about half way through 3rd quarter
Actually, I was the key. We were out to dinner with friends. I got home at halftime and watched the second half.
Sounds like you two just formed a tag team.
I guess we need to coordinate in the future when he stops watching; so I can start watching.
Whoop, there it is.
The strategy to VT WBB winning games, that is.
I was at the game, neck and neck until half way through the fourth. That ball just would not go in for the Hokies for about three quarters. Then it finally started dropping and we pulled away. Big Win against a good team.
Caught the replay late last night. We have some players. This was a very physical game. Lot of uncalled contact all the way around. The type of game that rattle our previous coach's teams. On the other had, we are not nearly good as working off the ball as a team to get wide open looks for three. Not sure if that is coaching philosophy, or just a new coach, system and players having to start somewhere and we just have not worked that part out yet.
There were a lot of times we were in the stands yelling at the them to move of offense. Too much of get in a set position and wait for someone to pass it to you and only the person with the ball moving.
