best parts from being there
1) ton of free goodies
2) Buzz has got ENERGY - he knows how to engage fans
3) Buzz actually said he hates talking to the media - it was pretty funny
4) Whit: "I like to hit homeruns early on"
5) Buzz and Whit sticking around for 45 min after, talking to people and taking photos. oh yeah - Whit let us on the court!

That was awesome - every second of it. For starters, Whit entered the Cassell to Enter Sandman. I loved that they let us down on the court and hung around for a while to talk with us. I got to talk with Whit for a couple minutes about how Students experience the athletics department (let's face it, we feel like we've been tolerated at best for the past few years that I've been here at least) and the Hokie Club. I mentioned that he could see for himself the effect free pizza has on students and he said he'd consider doing something similar to educate the students about the Hokie Club and make sure they know it's not only about football tickets.
By far the one thing that stood out to me was the simple fact that he was there to meet the fans and he'd shake every single hand and begin every conversation with a smile and, "Hi, I'm Whit." Felt like we were just talking to a normal guy who loves his job.

I hope it wasn't. Thompson & dad have made it clear their focus is too self-centered to work on a team of Buzz's. If Thompson is using a cell phone incident as fodder to run to the press, just wait until Buzz unleashes Boot Camp & regular practices. It will make Thompson scurry away as fast as someone can escort him.
What is best is for those not interested in making the sacrifice to leave, and for us to not obsess over their loss. Life goes on...

Interesting to hear Buzz's comments about Beamer during the press conference. Basically, he let it be known how much he admires Beamer...that he doesn't equate himself to Beamer, but thinks that he can learn from Frank. So, indirectly having a coach like Beamer has helped us recruit Buzz. Talent begats talent!

Did anyone else catch Buzz's offhanded comment about building a new arena to have space for more retired jerseys and championship banners?
I do recall he seems to think Lane seats 71,000. Oh well, better to overestimate I guess!
