Anyone in here ever had a season RV pass in Lot 3?
I am trying to figure out what my contribution to the Hokie Club needs to be for next year to have a decent shot at getting one of the RV spots. The rest of the extended family tailgates in Lot 5 so we want to still be close to them but have a more comfortable set up for the toddler that doesn't make it through the whole game.
I emailed the Hokie Club to ask this question and all I got was that you have to be a Golden Hokie or better to have access to a spot if it was available. That is all well and good, but what I was trying to find out was if that was all a collection of scholarship donors or if a mid-range Golden Hokie would be able to snag one of the spots. I tried to call the office this morning, but of course it just rings with no answer or even a voicemail. This really shouldn't be that difficult of a question to answer by a real live body, but my expectations of the Hokie Club are pretty low.

I hate to defend Hokie Club, but the person answering the phone nor anyone can really answer that. The lowest level you are eligible is Golden Hokie. Theoretically every space could be taken by the top number (X) donors starting with highest ranked donor and they never get past highest tier. Now someone there could look at this last years and tell you what level or day that lot was gone by.
I know someone that is around 70-ish in terms of donor ranking and even they weren't able to get one of those RV spots. They go very high & very quickly in the experience of the people I know.
Unfortunately I do not know what kind of donation amount being #70 entails. They have been long time donors with some big gifts in the past, so playing catch up to that in one donation is complicated (and probably very expensive).
And that's really all I am looking for. If they say the current batch are all top 100 folks then yeah, cost prohibitive and i keep going at my current donation level.
Another thing is that last year was a reseating year, which includes parking. So in order to get an RV spot for next year, someone else will have to give up their spot AND you will have to make such a donation that you'd be high enough up the donor ranking to get the first opportunity to take it.
IMO, if you are really serious about an RV spot and have the money, put in the donations for the next two years to put you in a good ranking for the next reseating. In the meantime, get a spot at the airport or over by the golf course.
If you do get an approximate $$ amount from the Hokie Club, it'd be interesting to hear it!
If I get someone to answer the phone, I will report back. Two tries yesterday resulted in no live bodies to answer and no ability to leave a voicemail. I realize it is right before Thanksgiving but that should not result in a phone that just rings endlessly.
First come first served rv parking next to lot 18.
Correct me if I am wrong, but for that overflow lot RV parking you had to buy passes (before the season) in order to park there. And, AFAIK, they sold out for the season? It was a new policy/operation starting this season. But once you have a pass, it is first-come, first-serve as far as picking a spot to park.
This is true. They changed the policy and told nobody, but buried it in the fan guide. Almost screwed us over, but we miraculously found a lot 3 RV pass on stubhub.
I was not aware of that change. Thank you.
