WBB at #9 Duke Dec 8 at 4PM

The Ladies travel to Duke today to meet the #9 Blue Devils at 4 PM. The game will be on the ACC network. Duke is 8-2 with losses at #7 Maryland and at #3 South Carolina. They have wins over the usual early season cupcakes; but also over #11 Oklahoma and #13 Kansas State, both at Cameron Indoor.

Duke has 16 players on the roster; 13 have played in a game. Ten players average at least 10 minutes per game. The Blue Devils are not particularly tall; four starters are between 5'9" and 6', with sophomore Delaney Thomas at 6'3". All of the starters play 20-28 minutes per game; the next five play 15-18 minutes per game. None of the starters are freshmen, with 2 sophs, 2 jrs and a senior. There are two freshmen in the next 5.

Because they play so many players, no one has great numbers. Only 2 starters score in double digits; but freshman toby Fornier scores 10.9 ppg off the bench.

This game will be a learning experience for our ladies. They will see how a well-coached team plays together. I don't have much hope that the Hokies can stay with Duke for very long, especially if we continue the sloppy play with too many turnovers. Our only hope is if someone has a career game and just becomes unguardable; and the rest of the team plays great, particularly on defense.

LET'S GO HOKIES!

Just a brutal game so far.

11 turnovers on 33 possessions.

Giving Duke WIDE OPEN shots.

I don't understand our offense. Seems to be a lot of standing around and they almost always miss the open player under the basket.

Doesn't matter if it's cake or pie as long as it's chocolate.

Agreed. Wenzel and Suffren moving while Ekh Micheaux and Baker pretending to be statues

Celebrating Fournier as the replay shows she clearly hooked her way around ... just pathetic broadcasting

Hokies outscored Duke by one in 3Qtr.

Hokies need to bookmark this game. Duke still has four starters in actively shooting to run the score up under a minute.

Really don't like Lawson. Duke is easy to hate, and she definitely contributes to that for me.

Hokies allowed a freshman off the bench to put up 27 on them and lost the 4th Qtr by 7 points. I know they weren't expected to be close but losing by 22 was pretty ugly.

To be fair, Fournier is going to be a special player.

We need Eck to play with more confidence. We're going to need her scoring this year.

Ehk seems to be the most lost in the Duffy offense. Having her drive to the basket more than looking and getting open 3s.

Go Hokies!!

The other guards can't create space to get her the ball in open space. See the 18 turnovers.
