very cool.
Expecting more WVU OL-men to commit but he'll be the best of the bunch. French, how do you feel about him?
Have to watch more tape. What little I have seen, he is a good pass protector but does sometimes let defensive tackles get under his pads. Very good zone blocker, not a finisher (stops at contact when he pulls.) Those are first impressions.
It's crazy that Clements was historically one of the best freshman OL on VT, but also was so disappointing 2022-2024. Injuries and bad coaching derailed a potentially elite lineman.
Also, 2020 and 2021 were pretty good OL years for VT. With 15 RBs, you would figure that the team would be able to be elite in the running game.
Can he play in the bowl game? Asking for some onw that doesn't want the be murdered on live TV.
These are the kind of portal pick ups we need
And just like that, Im back in.
Left guard, wore No. 55 at WVU
wasn't that Buzz Nutters number?
EDIT: never mind he was 50
Oh yes. thank you thank you! This is the news we needed. Now just need 5 more.
Got a 91 from on3. Technically the new number one interior lineman portalling this year. Apologies to Josh Braun, I tried 3 times to prevent an ad from being captured and this was the best I could do.

Seems like a step in the right direction, even if it's only for one year.
Another Festivus miracle.
I just hope it's not a step with the wrong foot. That makes French very angry
Heard freshman Tommy Altuner from WVU is in the portal and visiting VT after the bowl. I loved his HS film at tackle, but he is 6'3 so they moved him to center. Coincidence that VT needs a center. Great feet and plays with anger. Just needs to improve with his hands. WANTS.
Let's get him fully dipped!
I would anticipate 3-5 of WVU's starting OL, and even a few more depth guys, being in Blacksburg for spring ball. The Matt Moore effect is going to be awesome.
If this OL turns out as sick as I think it could be, and Dex and John Scott Jr (oops worst kept secret ever) are on our D staff next year with Bud as advisor, I am pushing my pile all in on beating Shane next year.
Isn't JSJ a DL coach? Is he replacing JC?
I also haven't seen the bud stuff anywhere but here.
The people I have seen mentioning JSJ coming have an idea that we're going to have co-DL coaches with JSJ doing more HS recruiting and Price doing portal recruiting 🤷. That sounds like another too many cooks problem to me, I would rather figure out our LB coaching issues. Every year I hear we have a talent problem with the DL until we don't.
In the press conference where Pry announced the staffing changes he mentioned leaning into Bud for bowl prep. I could have sworn he mentioned that Bud would have a bigger role moving forward, but maybe that was just reading between the lines incorrectly.
💯💯💯
What's the draw to leave the Lions for the Hokies?
Good question, he probably doesn't unless he just really loves our unannounced coordinator.
Oh I get it, 3 co-DCs:
The defense will be so advanced no one actually needs to call plays. Truly inventing the future.
Why stop at 2 DL coaches? If Bud is coming back maybe Wiles will too.
I mean if we just hire every coach then no one will be left to coach other teams, we need some assistance associate head coaches
I don't think he was retained by the lions. They hired a new DL coach for 2024
Yeah it's weird, he is not listed on their coaching page but they posted video content with him last week
I believe he's a defensive consultant for Clemson. Read it last night somewhere.
I don't remember him saying anything about Bud having a bigger role going forward. I feel like that's something I, and everyone else, would really have focused on, like maybe he'd come back as LB coach or something.
I don't think he's coming back as an on field coach with recruiting responsibilities. I think he might be willing to be a moderately to highly involved analyst.
edit: Upon review of the coaching changes presser Pry definitely just mentions Bud in relation to bowl prep, so he might just keep doing fund raising events and Claytor lake after the bowl.
Yeah, I only remembered him mentioning bowl prep as well. I figure he's willing to be a mentor to Pry to some extent and do the fundraising activities you mention, but guess he's trying to keep his life as low stress as possible.
If it means anything, all of our coaches follow JSJ on X.
That means everything
Altuner went to WVU specifically because of Moore. I would be shocked if he's not a Hokie.
Need to get Rimac recruiting his teammates.
He is.
Noice
Lucas Austin is now the in the portal per On3. High 3* freshman OT, maybe following to Blacksburg as well.
