There is a lot of money in Phoenix and ASU football is the only game in town in terms of college. It's easier to get NIL money committed when you win the Big 12 and make the playoffs. It's an easier sell. Unlike Blacksburg, every major business is located in some way shape or form in the valley. Major restaurant parent companies, major banks, major golf companies, major tourist companies. When you win, you can tap those resources. Arizona ran up the score on ASU a coupe years back and were mocking them on the field. Now the tide has turned.

The whole Cam package? no. That is like a Mike Alstott/Tim Tebow dude all in one. His production at the RB spot can be supplemented with similar numbers though. Leavitt can play and they get their best WR back too. Offense will be fine for ASU- it's the defense that is a concern.

I don't disagree that others might be found or are already there that can do components of his game but there is a lot to be said about having the flexibility of a Swiss-Army type player that did so much so well.
(After re-reading your opening two sentences, I guess we may be saying the same thing.)

Have you been to ASU, that's got to be an easy sell as long as it's not in mid summer. Great whether, great scenery, decent sized city, and it's known for being a party school. lots of great things for 18-26 year olds.

Correct. ASU has always been located in Tempe with great weather. The made a big gaff hiring a meh NFL retread thinking it would work. He cheated before there were no rules and they made a great hire in Dillingham- a young offensive coach with deep ties to the area. In the new big 12, they can certainly compete- but like VT as you mention, they need the right coach and right roster to be a consistent winner. Weather and hot co-eds aren't enough

I dont disagree that Kenny is a big part of this, just that when things are going well for a coach, location isn't an issue, no one on ASU is complaining about weather. No one is questioning their life choice as they walk to class in a foot of snow.

I saw this article that ASU actually beat Texas as that missed FG with 1:44 left was actually made It was blocked, but is still a live ball and it bounced through the uprights so under NCAA rules it's 3 points. So you know ASU was a ref mistake away from the final 4.

Sounds fun. I'm not downloading another app to read it though.
Good luck to them. It sure didn't work out for us.
I guess their pay to play ratio is pretty accurate and they don't hate their coaches.
That qualifies as success in the college football world.

BUT can Cam Skattabo be replaced on their team?

*ASU loses only 3 players to the winter portal and is holding their breath regarding spring portal.

Yeah, but people have been saying this for decades. And it's mounted to very little talent at Arizona State.
Kenny Dillingham is just one of those coaches to perfectly fits the culture of his players and university. Guys seem to like playing for him too.
I'm sure NIL is competitive, but I doubt it's far off from VT.

Haha, I see what you did there! DC would be proud.
Edit, replied to wrong post
ASU or ASU?

That's not accurate. The try failed once it hit the ground regardless of whether it was blocked or not.
Here's a screen cap of the rule book.
