The Ladies play at Georgia Tech Jan 9 at 7 PM. The game is on ACCNx. Ga Tech is 15-0, 3-0 in the ACC with wins over #19 UNC, Pitt and Syracuse. The Hokies are 10-4, 1-2.
Ga Tech starts three juniors, a fifth year and 6'6" sophomore Arianna Termis.
Their leading scorer, #3 Dani Carnegie 16 ppg does not start. Two starters do score in double digits, #25 Dunn and #5 Morgan. They average 18.7 assists and 12.3 TOs per game. Have outscored their opponents 83-57.
This may be another tough game for the Ladies. The Yellow Jackets play good defense and the Hokies are not careful at protecting the ball on offense. Ga Tech plays a lot of players. The Hokies don't have enough bench; so fatigue may be a factor. I also don't know who we have that can guard Termis unless Hazelton or Ramiya White can step up, which is not likely. The Jackets have a lot of experience; the Hokies do not. Hopefully the Hokies can avoid setting any of the wrong kind of records.
We need at least two girls to have career games to have a chance in this one.

We can't rebound a lick. They've out rebounded us 20 - 12. Points in the paint 20 - 10. And second chance points 12 - 5. We need to box out and get some rebounds to stop some of their easy baskets.

No matter the outcome tonight, I just want to say that I love how this time is fighting and scrapping to make this a game against one of the surprise teams this year in all of women's college basketball. The FSU game got away from them, but the team has come together to get a comeback win on the road and now to hang tough with a good team once again on the road. Now, here's to hoping we find a way to string a few stops together and pull off an upset win!!
Agree. The pieces are there. It's just the talent disparity with other ACC teams means the Lady Hokies just have to play more perfect than they should be expected. But unfortunately they have runs where they fall apart as a team, and then have to catch fire to get back in it. But no doubt, they are fighters!
