The 11-4, 2-2 Hokies host the 7-8, 0-4 Demon Deacons in Cassell today at 2 PM. The game will be broadcast on the ACCNextra streaming channel. WF is on a 3 game losing streak and has lost 5 of their last 6. The Ladies have won their last two including the 2OT thriller over #13 Ga Tech in their last outing.

Against their one common opponent WF beat Campbell 63-46; the Hokies beat Campbell 81-46.
Wake starts a grad student, redshirt senior, senior, redshirt junior and a sophomore; obviously a very experienced team. The Hokies start 2 seniors, a junior and 2 sophomores. The Hokies bench is all freshmen; the Deacons bench includes 2 seniors, a freshman and a sophomore, who play significant minutes and a freshman, sophomore and grad student who don't play much.

Wake's leading scorer, #21 5'9" guard Elise Williams, has not been starting recently, but comes off the bench to play nearly 30 min/game. #5 6'3" forward Malaya Cowles makes nearly 59% of her shots. #25 6'2" forward Demaera Hinds makes nearly 55% of her shots. Overall the Deacs shoot 43% overall and 32% from three while scoring only 62 points per game. They make about 6 three point shots per game. Only 2 players score in double digits; but 5 score between 8.5 and 10.6 points per game; so a pretty balanced scoring attack.

Wake has been outrebounded by their opponents by 1 rpg; they average 14.1 assists and 16.5 turnovers per game. #25 Hinds averages 3.1 fouls per game; so she probably spends a lot of time on the bench, and may explain why she only plays 21 min/game.

The ESPN matchup predictor gives the Hokies a 94.1% chance to win this game. If they are correct, Maya Hazelton and Ramiya White may see some minutes today. Williams has scored 1192 points in her career, which puts at at #22 on the all time scoring list at Wake; she needs 9 points today to move into the top 20. Wake prides themselves on defense and the Hokies are one of the top scoring teams in the conference. How will the unstoppable force of the Hokies offense do against the immovable object of the WF defense. Based on the two teams records and ESPN predictor, pretty well.
LET'S GO HOKIES!

Go Hokies! Hopefully we have some juice left!
LET'S GO
HOKIES!!!
really loving the ball movement and passing
I say that right before back to bakc turnovers
oh my god we have turned over every possession since I posted that
Refs may be a factor in this game. They really like to use their whistles. Wake has three starters with two fouls. We have two.
I have been forced to watch from my phone. TV app giving me Not authorized to view content even though they are the same login. Hard to tell who has done what outside the box score
I have yttv which refuses to authenticate the espn app on my phone or tv app whoch forces me to use my laptop
Our ball security is so bad
Turnover central...they just keep dribbling into it.
Ekh having a hard time today. 1 for 8, 0 for 4 from three, and 4 turnovers. Halfway through the third quarter.
Micheaux not closing on perimeter has given them two or three easy 3pters
terrible 3Q.. felt like I was watching the football team
Felt like watching men's basketball against Cal yesterday.
Wenzel with foul trouble and Nelson with 5 turnovers
Surprisingly only a 15-13 point difference off turnovers. It's the second chance points that has Wake leading.
Yeah I think we have gotten like 1 out of 30 loose balls
Just don't seem to have a defensive stop in them. Too many easy baskets right at the rim for Wake
Seems like we have tight outer defense and then just get beat on the drive or the interior pass
cant turn it over in that situation
35 combined turnovers and 38 combined fouls now....what ugly basketball
FAM! Ugly, grind it out dub! I'll take it!
Agreed! Home ACC dub
Overcome FAM....wouldn't want to be at u he next practice though
This team is good at the fourth quarter.
Through 16 games:
Q1: +57 (3.56 ppg), lost 6 Q1s (Iowa, Michigan, Georgia, Duke, FSU, Miami)
Q2: +41 (2.56 ppg, lost 5 Q2s (Rutgers, Michigan, Duke FSU, GT)
Q3: +1 (0.06 ppg), lost 5 Q3s (Iowa, Georgia, FSU, Miami, WF)
Q4: +74 (4.63 ppg), lost 3 Q4s (Iowa, Duke, FSU)
gutted it out in the end and held them to 8 points in the 4th after a horrible 3rd. Finding ways to win on off days is important
I expected a letdown after the huge win at GT. Glad they found a way to close strong and secure the win. Hopefully they regroup and produce a better effort next game. FAM!
Fam. I was not sure about Wenzel at point, but I think coach Duffy is making her much better.
Good to see Wenzel keep her composure down the stretch. Good tough win!
It could definitely be worse.
SMU Ladies were winning 46-14 at halftime over Pitt.
They lost 72-59.
Second half score was 58-13.
Largest comeback in NCAA history.
That's gotta sting 🐝
Congrats.
Back to the daily grind, ladies.
