WBB hosts Louisville at 4PM Jan 19

The 12-5, 3-3 Ladies host Louisville today at 4 PM on the ACC Network. Louisville is 13-5, 6-1 on a 7 game winning streak and has not lost yet this year. Their 5 losses were all to ranked teams. The one common opponent has been Georgia Tech. We beat them 105-94 in 2 overtimes; Louisville beat them 69-60.

The Cardinals will likely start a grad student, 2 seniors and a freshman. No. 22, 5' 10" freshman guard Tajianna Roberts has stated every game and leads the team in scoring at 12.9 ppg. Two other starters average double digit scoring: #30 Curry at 11.1 and #44 Cochran at 10.1; #@ Nyla Harris averages 9.8. #1 Imari Berry is the primary threat from beyond the arc, shooting 43% on 52 attempts; but she only plays about 13 min/game.

Louisville shoots 44.4% overall, only 30.3% from three and 69.2% on free throws. They score 73.7 ppg and allow 66.4. They average 15.9 assists, 16.9 TOs and 9.8 steals; but they cause 20.5 TOs per game. They win the rebounding battle by 2.5 rpg. Nyla Harris gets more rebounds on offense than defense.

Louisville is favored by 1.5, with the over/under at 139.5. The matchup predictor give Louisville a 57.6% chance of winning. The Hokies are going to have to clean up their ball handling to stay in this one. Louisville causes a lot of turnovers and makes a lot of steals. We are also going to have to work hard to keep Nyla Harris off the offensive boards.

If we shoot well and hang onto the ball, we could have a chance.

LET'S GO HOKIES!

LET'S GO....

I seldom speak to loluva grads, but when I do, I tell them I want large fries.

My first game a Cassel. There is not a bad seat here.
Cip holders on the back of the seat are a bit of a pain in the ass to walk past. Other than that it's a nice place.
No matter the crap I've heard disparaging the place.

This is going to be great for the ACC.

Seriously? First time? Cool.
So what did you think?

I seldom speak to loluva grads, but when I do, I tell them I want large fries.

I like the place.

This is going to be great for the ACC.

Can carleigh please stop with these lazy passes to the wing

Danny is always open

that left handed push is a TO 80% of the time

The call of jump ball where Petersen scored and Louisville scoring on the other end changed the entire quarter. Four point swing and momentum killer.

Yeah and the loserville player barely touched the ball for a split second with a finger nail while kayl was just grabbing it to go up and score.

Danny is always open

Hokies getting killed allowing offensive rebounds. At least four baskets were on their 3rd chance

This is a good moment to be on ACCN. Not sure they would have done it on ESPN.

is the liz banner smaller than the one beside it?

Danny is always open

Yeah...what's up with that?

They put Whit in charge of measuring. He bought heavier fabric so it's smaller because "Weights weigh the same"

banners ban the same

Danny is always open

Onsite it looks more like they have perhaps rolled it up higher.

Good question though.

This is going to be great for the ACC.

Some cleaning up to do, but overall a pretty good first half with tons of effort... gotta come out with an answer to their defensive pressure and keep up our own defense without getting all these fouls

Danny is always open

how does cochran get so many boards even when she doesn't have position

Danny is always open

Our players are terrible about actually blocking out

How many attempted rebounds have we pushed out of bounds today?

we are allergic to rebounds

I think we need to go to carys a lot more than we had..... use her mismatch to her advantage rather than trying to make her post up on cochran

Agree

Another whistle driven six point swing. At least Hokies got a bucket on return

Kayl is looking good on offense... getting asked to do a bit too much on defense where you can see the size difference between their experienced bigs and her but leaving it out there

Danny is always open

Yeah Kayl is ideally a 3 in ACC play but foul trouble making it hard. White and Hazelton not a factor

In the reduced minutes in the early games it was clear that White and Hazelton are still working on developing to be able to take minutes in conference play. A different year, maybe we are less worried about the starters figuring things out a new system and the early games have more minutes for freshmen

Danny is always open

Need to hope White and/or Hazelton can develop into a servicible center for next year. Then with Baker as a four and Peterson a three, we look like a pretty good team.

Doesn't matter if it's cake or pie as long as it's chocolate.

Really impressed with the freshmen/sophomores who stepped up in the 3rd quarter there..... let's keep up the intensity

Danny is always open

The bald-headed ref is terrible! Must be his first college game.

I seldom speak to loluva grads, but when I do, I tell them I want large fries.

He was getting booed throughout the game, very one sided calls. The other bald ref was better and the woman called hardly anything but when she did most of the time it was fair.

You could tell on a couple of the reviews the woman was in charge though. There were a couple clear moments one of the other refs weren't happy with her decision and she started chopping her hand into her other hand while emphasizing to the other ref she didn't care he didn't like it.

Yup. Two of the three seems to be doing their best to call a fair game for both sides. The older bald ref was very much focused on calling 80% of the fouls and out of bounds against Tech.

Gonna need some better offense than this

Danny is always open

Painful miss by ekh.... sometimes you can be TOO open

THATS A KICK BALL

I think the officials decided White purposely threw it at her feet. It wasn't an action by the Louisville player

From here she looked a little out of control. The pass was a good choice.

Ekh just thrown down but no call

why do we not want to shoot layups

Danny is always open

Feel like we have a hyperfocus on using the rest of the clock up .. equivalent of playing prevent

Danny is always open

Lots of screaming in the stands, of milking clock with a 7 point lead versus taking open layups with time on the shot clock. Take the damn open points.

Id rather milk 15 seconds and get 2 points than 30 and 0

Carleigh has to take those two to the basket and make the layup.

Guess we swapped our usual 3rd and 4th quarters today

cochran only having 2 fouls in this game is insanity

Omg the music they play during injury TK is a dirge.

This is going to be great for the ACC.

She's not dead.

This is going to be great for the ACC.

Announcers - "Not sure why Ekh is down." She got plowed over by a Louisville player going for the rebound and, of course, no call

Oh no.... and 1 against us means ... and 1 possession

Danny is always open

Terrible call. White did not commit a foul on that shot. Offensive player bumped into her then fell backward.

have we gotten the rebound off of one of their missed foul shots all game?

Danny is always open

That foul was on the floor. Replay clearly shows she steps back after bump and begins act of shooting

Rob Peterson

Now the announcers are crying about why a foul wasn't called on Louisville's last shot attempt

There wasn't contact on the shot but we did get away with some hard contact on the rebound where a Louisville player had ball in hands
