After 37 games, certainly, you'd have to think it should be quite obvious/clear by now... right?

I say: "Pry's Culture"... and you instantly say, what(s)???
💪🏿

Maybe "THIS! IS! SPARTA!" or hopefully it's more like old man strength.
Body by Jarrett!
Hopefully, at the end of the season, we can proudly proclaim
"They went to Jarrett!"
That man tells you to lift, you lift.
Large pushing machinery. Old School Bud hardnosed.
Virginia Tech lineman Greg Nosal keeps playing after fingertip is torn off
I want guys who will play with a ripped off finger! (I remember hearing about that right after it happened.)
Was quietly hoping Nosal would have been the OL hire. His OLs looked good against Penn State and Texas A&M this season even if they didn't dominate the line of scrimmage. Much more cohesive and fluid than the dumpster fire here.
I was at that game and remember coaches looking for something during a media timeout. We all laughed and thought it was a contact. Then we heard on the radio after the game that they were looking for part of a FINGER!
Solid, Knowledgeable, Rigid...
Or something similar...
Thicc legs.
NVM...
Fergie's going for some hot-hot culture, maybe some Shakira-style hip shakin'. She'll have those guys in booty-shakin' shape in zero ticks.
Damn, you beat me to the joke.

Well I'm glad I'm not the only one who immediately went there
C'mon folks, we can keep this going.
It's weird when you have a severe upchuck reflex at the same time your eyes bleed. This gif succeeded at both for me.
where was this guy 3 weeks ago?
Still hard to believe she was a voice actor for the Charlie Brown and Snoopy specials.
Make Fergavicious happen.
Leg for the crystal light aerobics championship gif
GRIT!
Am I doing this right?
This is a good question. I think there's been a disconnect between what Pry says he wants and what he actually has. He seems to want a team that will impose its will on both sides of the ball: a powerful run-first offense behind a big Wisconsin-style offensive line that forces the other team to try to defend the line of scrimmage, and a Bud Foster style defense that pressures the opponent and creates turnovers. We don't have that now. In terms of scheme, the current defense is closer to what Pry wants than the offense, but then he fired his DC.
We can talk about poor coaching and poor recruiting, but after 3 years in the modern transfer portal era you would think Pry would have a team that is closer to looking like what he says he wants. We've been bringing in a lot of skill players and not so many beefy linemen. Pry is also acknowledging now that the team needs better S&C, but then he promotes someone from within so how much of a change are we going to get?
He wants a team like Penn State. Unfortunately we had APR who could pressure the QB, but we didn't have an all amercian TE and better than average QB at the same time. We also had Tuten, but no depth back there. He wants to be Penn State without Penn State talent.
That star TE was committed to us at one point :(
Yep - Franklin did what all great recruiters do- he lied to him and told him he would get a chance to be a QB.
Why would a TE who wants to play QB go anywhere other than Virginia Tech?
Beefy linemen are the hardest ones to find in the portal, on either side of the ball.
"This is a good question. I think there's been a disconnect between what Pry says he wants and what he actually has."
"We can talk about poor coaching and poor recruiting, but after 3 years in the modern transfer portal era you would think Pry would have a team that is closer to looking like what he says he wants."
Ahhhhhhhhhh... one, dats (1) whole single solitary thinker among us.
(And my humble thanks for the thread save, too!)
Let's see...
...nobody defined his Culture... and at ~4o-odd-games... why??? LOL!

How could that be? Surely it would be imprinted before -not by now- before now, right❔
Additionally... nobody used his {sic: Pry's} pet tire-pull; or, tug o'war word... "competitive."
Again... why???

Why do you think we need some buzz wordy culture definition? I'm over the GRIT and Hard Smart Tough and Hard Things Together and Row The Boat and Chop The Wood and ALL IN and all that. You shouldn't need a buzzword to instill principles
haha... no. Acta non-verba is me. "Barkin' dog don't bite." --Carpatho' Ruso Mountain idiom.
That said... it has to align with what you want to be. Then, it has to yield success/results. Both.
i..e., if you want a powerhaus 220v zero-splits set of norward maulers you need to POWER lift/train.
i.e.e., if you want speed/velocity max' you need that agility/twitch/burst typea training.
And yet... what have we been?
As in... it reallllllly is hard to define this Prying Culture.
And it has left us wondering... did they finish the clean-up of the inherited chemistry fu'nk❓
As it kinda feels like something has... lingered... something has not yet been clinically rinsed... out.
As '24 surely reverted in both Staff and Playar ways alike.

there is no way to know this in January
I think the point is that we should have a clear "new" culture defined by now (even before the coaching firings). Staff changes would be reflective of people not performing and/or not reflecting the head whistles "culture". This is my take on what Bstreet is laying out but I'm still learning to decipher his dialect
Pry wants "complimentary ball", everything all about the state of virginia, embrace alumni, etc. He not dumb. If he can get the alumni shit eating grins for simply beating UVA and VMI like it was in the 70's, he can be coach here for life.
Re: the initial post... yes; you have the measure of it.
IF you ill-defined it for 3 years-- why am I to believe you suddenly will define it righteously in year no.4?

Culture isn't a buzzword, it isn't even a mindset. Its an environment defined by actions
Too often, people get that confused.
Bring back the Mike Gentry Ironman competition.
Gentry was " out of touch, stale, not innovative" - meaning his teams rarely got pushed around on skates on the football field. Being out of touch really sucks.
I think the moment I was done with the Fuente era was watching us play Furman in 2019 at home. We looked like the skinniest, softest, most passive team ever just trying to play patty cake out there getting manhandled by Furman. And then ESPN does a big feature story on VT's viticulture program with a professor talking about wine tasting. I threw up in my mouth and said, "our transformation into UVA is now complete."
I was at that game. I remember thinking the same thing. Hilgart shouldn't be anywhere near a D1 program. His resume sucked before VT anyway. When you zone block on offense, it doesn't mean to play patty cake. Alex Gibbs broncos teams dominated people up front. Fuente thought that zone blocking meant "get in the other guys way". Clowns
Hey, there are Hokies who drink & collect wines, too! It's been a passion of mine for many years.
That being said, UVA still sucks!
The combination of soft football and wine tasting triggered me at that particular moment in time.
Hell yeah, I work at a winery.
Lotta people doing a lot of whining on here these days........
