WBB at NC State Jan 26 at 6PM

The Ladies travel to North Carolina to play the NC State Wolfpack today at 6 PM. The game will be on the ACC Network. NC State are 9.5 point favorites with the over/under at 140.5; the Matchup Predictor gives the Hokies 17.4% chance to win.

NC State is 15-4, 7-1 in conference. Their four losses are to #2 South Carolina, #9 TCU, #5 LSU and #22 California. One of their wins was against Ole Miss, who are the fourth team listed under receiving votes. They are on a four-game winning streak and have won 11 of their last 12. They trounced Louisville and beat Pitt by 17 points; we beat Louisville by 5 and Pitt by 17. They beat UVA by 5; we lost to UVA by 8.

They start 4 guards and 6'7 forward freshman #18 Tilda Trygger. The guards are #10 5'10 senior Aziaha James, #35 5'10 sophomore Zoe Brooks, #22 6'1 senior Saniya Rivers, and #21 6'0 grad student Madison Hayes. #42 6'3 sophomore Mallory Collier splits time with Trygger. The four guards play 30+ min per game; Trygger and Collier split 30 min per game. #3 Jones plays about 17 min/game and the rest of the team plays 7-10 min/game.

The four guards score 10-17 ppg, Trygger and Collier combine for about 9.5 ppg. They shoot 43.6% overall and 36.1% from three; only Hayes, among the starters, at 38% shoots better than 32.6% from three. They only shoot 67.2% from the foul line.

Nothing stands out about this team. They win the rebound battle by 3.2; they turn the ball over 12.3 times per game. They have 13.8 assists per game. They don't foul much at 12.3 per game; but they get fouled a lot at 17.4 per game. The Hokies are again going to struggle in the paint against 6'7 Trygger and they are going to have to keep the turnovers down to have a chance in this game. This game could be winnable; but the Ladies are going to have to light it up beyond the arc and maybe get Trygger in foul trouble. And Micheaux has to limit her fouls; and the whole team has to make their layups.

LET'S GO HOKIES!

Hokies

Never Forget #1 Overall Seed UVA 54, #64 UMBC 74

Is fg % inside the arc the stat to watch?

Let's Go.

I am here (got here as soon as doors opened to watch warmups) and have not seen megan duffy yet. Is she sick too?

false alarm, she just walked out

this is gonna be tough if they shoot 90% all day

Their speed and athleticism was not overstated

The difference in energy levels between the two teams is entirely palpable. They need to turn it around in a hurry or this is going to be an embarrassing loss.

Yeah this has FSU vibes all over it right now

all of their guards are quicker and smoother than us and its very apparent

The God-Mode cheat code has expired for NCSU, so the Lady Hokies are getting back in it. Let's hope they can slowly whittle away at their score deficit.

This is just ugly.

37% vs 68% shooting

somehow being down by 15 at half almost feels like a victory

Not even sure what we just watched

Ugly, what we watched was ugly.

They outscored us 12-2 on points off turnovers and 16-0 on fastbreak points. Ouch!

I seldom speak to loluva grads, but when I do, I tell them I want large fries.

I feel like we really miss Suffren and her speed on the perimeter in this game. You see the talent Wells has, but she's just inexperienced. The lack of any real depth on the interior was also exposed once Micheaux got the 2 early fouls. Hoping they just hang in there to maybe lose by no more than the halftime deficit of 15. Need to play the second half without a long scoring drought and limit the turnovers.

Micheaux going to sit the whole 3rd quarter now.

picked up her 4th foul on an identical play that was called a steal on the other end

Did Carleigh just take an elbow in the stomach and get called for a block?

Doesn't matter if it's cake or pie as long as it's chocolate.

James stiff arms Nelson in the chest, steps back and hits three

They were shit from the free throw line or it would have been worse. Pack went 9/17.

Imagine if Pack had shot more 3s? Only attempted 10 of them.
