7 home games is nice. ACC network said that the exact date for the Cal game will be announced in the next few weeks. LOL UVA has a bye before our game with them. FSU and Miami in back-to-back weeks could be a challenge, it's good we have a bye before then.
Also, no long road trips to SMU, Cal, or Stanford (I know we played there last year). And no back-to-back away games either.
Depends on whether a 13 win or 3 win FSU shows up.

An off the cuff 5-7 that feels optimistic. Hope I'm wrong!
Yeah, my first reaction to this schedule is yeep. It's tough. We're going to have to find a gear we haven't shown in the Pry era. It sucks because last year was supposed to be the big year which would give us leeway for an expected down year this year.
I think we can flip that State one. Replaced both coordinators with bad hires. Weren't very good last year and don't play inspired ball under Doeren
After seeing this staff squander multiple games this past year I just don't have much optimism even if the other team doesn't seem to be in a good place
Curious why you have us losing to GT this year? We beat them 21-6 last year and should hopefully upgrade our O line and D. Also, Vandy, same thing, close last year, but should have a better O line and D.
And hopefully FSU is still a shit-show next year.
GT was missing a lot of pieces when we played them. They're a really solid team.
yeah Pry hasn't proven any gimmes except maybe Wofford.
They were missing their starting QB, Haynes King. That was basically the only reason they couldn't score last year. If they had a reliable running threat at QB and a more mature passer, then they had plenty there for the taking. We *might* be better on offense next year, but we're losing most of our reliable playmakers like Tuten and Lane. And we're losing our biggest contributors on defense, too including Strong, Peebles, APR, and Delane.
GT was a shell of themselves against us without their starting QB and they had at least 3 critical drops where the ball hit the receiver in the hands on plays that would have kept drives alive. GT shot themselves in the foot against us. Watching that game they seemed like the better team but just kept screwing up. We didn't win that game because we were better. We won that game because GT lost it.
I'm a little more optimistic with a 7-5 record, but that's still not what we should capable of.
Could easily start 0-2. Then 4 winnable games in a row (should absolutely win at least 3).
GT, Louisville and Miami are gonna be the toughest conference games on paper.
No idea what to expect from FSU and NCSU always has solid D but they lost their only real offensive weapon from a pretty moribund attack.
It's nearly impossible to know what to count on in the Portal Madness Era but with what we've seen from Pry so far I think 7-5 might be the most realistic expectation.
Sadly, my initial/way too early to be valid reaction is 6-6. Hopefully they can do better.

Starting off 0-2 in the first week vs 2 SEC teams, not great. This is a meat grinder year in the making. Stumbling into conference play at 2-2., I expect 5-7 overall. Lean years continue

Yes, last two meetings we have gone there. 2018, 2023, now 2025. It's bs. FSU has played in Blacksburg a grand total of twice in the past 20 years. And we will have played there four times. #goACC

Side note-Also very proud of last season's UVA-VT tailgate. Friday I went to Christmastown at Busch Gardens rom 12-9pm; then dancing and drinking at club in Richmond til 2am; then picked up by my friend at the bar at 2am and arrived at Lot 18 at 530am(temp of 22 wind-chill of 13) and tailgated from 545am til 615pm and then the game. Not bad for an almost 60 year old and one of three football weekends where was up from Friday morning til Sunday morning!
Louiseville -> FSU -> Miami is a tough three game stretch.
Can't see us winning more than 7 games.

This schedule has the same potential and let down as this past season. 6-6 to 9-3 is the range. This go around, W/L will be a much more contributing factor than this past season. Period.

I'll preface this by saying I'm not particularly smart when it comes to football analysis, but I don't get the automatic L for Vandy next season. Yes, they have Pavia back for his 14th season and he's a gamer. Yes, Pry has a crap record against P4 OOC. However there is now a full season of tape on Vandy and let's not forget that last season our offense came out with middle school intramural complexity and we still should have won the game after essentially doing nothing for the entire first half. And it's at home. So while I'm not incredibly confident we win, I'm also not confident we lose. I'm.....hopeful.
I get that one more than people counting NCSt as a loss, they had an equally if not more disappointing season than us as far as expectations last year.
We can and should beat Vandy...the problem is I said that about a lot of teams last year so I'm a bit jaded now.

I'm keeping this as an L but idk if Miami reloads from Ward. As many times as he got them into bad spots last year he bailed them about 3 times as many.

Scar - W - We will obviously win this one so our hopes for the season will instantly be sky high and we can dream of the playoffs.
Vandy - W - A nail biter win we will use to convince ourselves that if we are 2-0 vs SEC we are great.
ODU - L - We will be overconfident, turn the ball over, have mental breakdowns, and look awful. The pitchforks will come out, and TKP will implode.
Wofford - W - and no-one will care.
@ NCST - L - Our first true road game, and we will look absolutely clueless on offense - Defense will look great, but won't be able to overcome 4 consecutive 4 and outs on offense to open the half.
Wake - W - Defense will suddenly forget how to play, but offense will stage a huge comeback, and the fanbase will be divided over how bad/ok we are.
@ GT - W - Our most complete game since the opener, and we look good in closish game. Hype train is again rolling, as we are in the hunt for the ACC championship game.
Cal - W - blowout win! its all coming together! We are BAK!
L'ville - L - We are not back. Completely outclassed in the trenches yet again, though we keep it close.
@ FSU - L- a team that can't find the end zone against anyone else makes us look like a D5 team. Get blown out.
Miami - W - They are not interested in playing a bad team in the cold when they have already been knocked out of the hunt for the championship, and make too many mistakes to win.
LOLUVA - W- to ensure we get an another year of the hype roller-coaster, as the W/L record shows real improvement, so no changes despite losing to ODU......

8 regular season wins including over LOLUVA and a lot of folks would be happy.
Lose to ODU at home and some fans will have a hard time with forgive and forget. Add losing badly to two conference teams with bad records - NCST and FSU - will have some calling for a change. Looking like we can't complete with a mediocre L'ville team? But yes, we beat Miami, LOL, and improve W/L and I'll be happy.
Unless he makes the playoffs, Pry losing to ODU again will be the end of his career here.
I can't bet on VT and I wouldn't want to profit off of the woes of my favorite football team, but the win total O/U should be about 5.5, and I think I'd take the under.

I think 5 wins is a reasonable expectation for this team next year. I wouldn't be happy with 5 wins but given what we know I think it's about what we should expect. Anything better than this will exceed my expectations but I won't be singing anyone's praises unless we win 9 or 10 games. This schedule isn't exactly murderer's row.
This is realistic IMO. We have shown zero mental toughness the past 5 years. None. So a tough team with a good coach like Louisville is a loss. In case anyone has noticed, we don't beat Miami anymore. It was nice to beat them back in the day, those days are over. Again, we used to be mentally tougher than they were, and now we aren't mentally tougher than anyone. Shane is a better coach than Pry- thus... you will see him better prepared. I think Shane beats us easily.

Vandy- hugely overrated and will win 4-5 games next year is a MUST win for Brent Pry at home. No exaggeration.
I can see that. If we lose that game, I'd say there is an excellent chance we are 0-2 and don't know how much more before the pitchforks come out. If people think it is bad now, just and see if we lose again to Vanderbilt.
