The 17-10, 8-8 Ladies travel to 14-15, 5-11 Boston College today at 7 PM. The game is an ACC Network extra broadcast. ESPN gives the Hokies 59.8% chance to win. BC has lost 4 of their last 5 and 7 of their last 9; in their last game they beat SMU at home 87-78. We beat SMU on Feb 2 at home 79-71. In other recent game we beat Cal 87-84 at home and lost to Stanford 75-74 in OT at home. BC lost to both on the road.
The Hokies will match up well with the starting five of BC, all of whom are juniors (2), seniors (2) or grad students. No one is over 6'1". However #23 Jackson, 6'4" and #13 Greene, 6'3" come off the bench for about 13-15 minutes each.
As you might expect with a team with a losing record, their shooting percentages are not great, 41.5% and 33.1% from three. They have allowed opponents to shoot 44.5% and 31.3%. It seems from the last few games that the book on the Hokies is to guard the three-point line. But this game may be a chance for the Ladies to play well inside, especially if Rose can come back and play well. Fouls may also be an issue for BC. Their second leading scorer #24 Waggoner averages 2.9 fouls per game and has fouled out three times.
This is a game the Hokies should win. If they shoot well from beyond the arc, this could be a runaway unless they compensate by careless ball handling. This could be a big game for Carleigh if she can make layups.

It seems like the refs have an interesting way to decide between calling a block and a charge. Don't remember seeing those calls favor the defense this much. Maybe about half of them should have been no calls.
Keys to 2nd half...
1. As always, limit turnovers, especially lazy passes
2. Need to win the rebound battle. Block out! Giving up too many offensive rebounds for 2nd chance points
3. Get paint touches. Dribble drive then kick out for open 3's. Or pick up "and ones"

So i'm still confused as to why Rose was ejected. I was watching on my phone with no sound. During the replays I didn't even notice her on the frame. WTF was that? Did she say something?

It still cost her team the game which she is getting a rep for in either mental mistakes or being out of control. Even if Micheaux hadn't been kicked out, giving the two extra free throws was only reason it was tied at regulation.
Carleigh is fiercely competitive. No way she let's that chick get away with the taunting.
She may have her moments, but she is one of the main reasons we've been better than expected this year. Nelson is also fiercely competitive and doesn't put up with any shit. I expect she would have done the same thing. I've watched her give plenty of shoves and body back at handsy, aggressive opponents.
This team in general provides plenty of head scratching moments, but we need to remember most of them are freshmen and sophomores that haven't had a starting role or played together. They've all shown moments of promise as well.
I hope we can keep the team mostly intact for Duffy to keep working with them.
