WBB at Clemson Mar 2 at 2 PM

Since I don't want to get caught missing the tip-off tomorrow, I'm going to put this up tonight. Going to miss the game live because the daughter and grand kids are down from PA this week end and we're going to the beach after church tomorrow. You guys will have to bring home a winner without me; but I may be able to listen.

Our 17-11, 8-9 Hokies travel to Clemson tomorrow to take on the 13-15, 6-11 Clemson Tigers. ESPN gives us 66.1% chance of winning. Clemson's ACC victories are against SMU, Ga Tech, Miami, Stanford, Cal, and Wake Forest. We beat all of those teams except Stanford, which we should have beaten.

The starting lineup seems to vary. In their last game a loss to Louisville, the starters were #1 Loyal WcQueen, #12 Mia Moore, #7 Summah Evans, #31 Anya Poole, and # 11 Maddie Cluse. #5 Hannah Kohn, #22 Tessa Miller, and #32 Raven Thompson played significant minutes. In the previous loss to Pittsburgh, McQueen, Kohn, Evans, Cluse, and Miller started; and Moore, Thompson, Poole, and #14 Addie Porter played significant minutes. Moore and Miller are juniors, Kohn is a sophomore; everyone else is a senior or grad student. For comparison, Micheaux and Ekh are seniors, Lani White is a junior; everyone else on the team is a freshman or sophomore.

McQueen leads the scoring at 13.5 ppg, Moore is second at 10.1; Kohn is third at 9.6. Everyone else is between 5 and 8 ppg. Everyone except Poole is a respectable three-point shooter; McQueen and Miller are not as likely to attempt a three as the others. Moore and Miller average 2.8 and 2.3 fouls per game.

Clemson does not turn the ball over much at 14 per game; but they only have 14.7 assists per game. They only score 65.6 ppg and allow 63.9. We play a faster paced game, scoring 76.3 and allowing 69.9 ppg. Depending on which Hokie team shows up we could have between 5 and 25 turnovers. If the 5 team plays, we win easily; if the the 25 team shows up, this game will be close.

On paper we are the better team; but we are younger and more likely to make mistakes, like the retaliation tech fouls that cost us the game against BC. But we learn from our mistakes. Clemson does not have a dominating center like some ACC teams; we should match up well with them. And hopefully Rose is fully healthy and ready to play at full speed.

Winning on the road in the ACC is never easy; but this is a game we could take home.

LET'S GO HOKIES!

LET'S GO.....

I seldom speak to loluva grads, but when I do, I tell them I want large fries.

HOKIES!!!!!!!!

Go Hokies!!

If I understand it correctly, if we win today, it won't change anything for the ACC tourney. We will be a #8 or #9 seed and get the first day off. But if we lose, and somehow Stanford beats GT, then we could drop to #10, having lost the tie-breaker to Stanford, and have to play an extra round. Am I getting that right?

In any case, let's put this one away, get the extra day or rest/practice, and end the season on a high note!

Rose pulled to the floor and they call a travel on her

Love how they are highlighting Clemson getting away with a hook as a positive play for Clemson

Now they wait until ball is out of bounds our ball to call a foul on Rose

How many times is Rose going to end up on the floor after a shot with no call?? Four and counting so far

Our post defense has been garbage today. They are letting Miller do anything she wants

Can't let klempson stay this close. Need to step up the defense on Miller in the 2nd half. And hope Ekh starts to see a bigger basket.

Turnovers leading to points...game would have been over 10 minutes ago if we would take care of the ball

Clemson has 11 points in 2nd half off turnovers

Make that 13. Completely brain dead play the last few minutes

Eight point lead under 3 minutes and we let them get it back to two

Now they are doing shot clock review on our timeout. It may give the ball to Clemson

Just an all around horseshit game today from officials

that was never a possibility, the announcers were spewing nonsense since the shot clock got turned off with 6 seconds on it but the only question was how much to reset it to after our timeout. The commentator was awful all game

This review is ridiculous. Going on 8 minutes before they made an announcement

Held on for the win! Built just enough of a cushion early-mid 4th to survive a semi-collapse during the last 3 min

tried to give it away.......... FAM
