Anything that keeps us off the Duke side is ok not that I expect much. Three winnable games considering how Hokies played those teams in season. Clemson though is probably the end of any run.

Nobody on this board will be surprised if we lose to Cal by 10 points either.

The first two are winnable. But who knows which team will show up.

I just hate all these double and triple byes. Just have a regular 16 team bracket with a play in game for the last two teams.

Eh, the byes reward teams for the regular season. Not a bad thing.

But sometimes byes hurt bubble teams. Getting a bye past first round and then losing in second round is treated by the committee as worse than winning in the first round and then losing in second round. And it shouldn't

I think that's a perception, unless a bubble team is getting byes into the quarterfinals. Playing a Q3 or Q4 team and winning isn't going to offset a loss in the next round.

If your regular season was good enough to be rewarded for, then the result of the ACC Tourney shouldn't matter.

Similar to how the CFPC didn't punish SMU for losing to Clemson in the ACCCG.

The root cause of course is 18 team conferences. Tournaments are unwieldy/tough to schedule and the regular season is meaningless anyway because there is nothing close to round robin. Take UNC- 13 ACC wins in 2002 would have gotten them a 2 seed in the NCAAs. Now it's meaningless and they SHOULD be out - but will get in on name this year. They won 13 acc games, but 12 were shit. That's the way it is with these huge conferences now. If South Carolina or LSU win the SEC tournament, they will get 14 out of 16 teams in the field this year. Wow- that regular season was SUPER important.

The reward is relative to the ACC (or conference) tourney, not the NCAA tourney.

Therein-lies the problem... the conference needs to realize that the ACC Tourney isn't the crown jewel that it was two decades ago.

Right SMU wasn't in the tourney with Dean and Gary Williams, etc. Its a far cry from what it was.

100% this. Some conferences have byes into the Semi's which is totally ridiculous and unfair

I agree with aspect, you should have to win at least 3 games in a row to win the tourney. But a play-in round and a first round bye (effectively 2 byes for top teams, seems reasonable).

But hear me out, what if we just give Duke and UNC permanent byes into the semis. One game each to get the famed Duke-UNC final. That's what the commissioners want and we should give them what they want.

I like how the bracket ended up for us. Hopefully we can get hot and then someone can do us the favor of upsetting Clemson!

I think we could beat Cal and Stanford, probably not getting past Louisville on a neutral site. I also think we could lose any of those games by 15.

Plan for the worst and hope for the best, not the other way around.

Making the ACC tourney exceeded my expectations. CMY making chicken salad out of chicken shit.

I haven't watched a minute of basketball this year. Should I watch it now?

"Take care of the little things and the big things will come."

No-we are going to lose to either Cal or Stanford, who have been in the ACC for 5 mins... or Louisville who literally brought in 13 transfers in one off season and are going to be 5 seed in the dance. We can't get out of our own fucking way. So, no.

Or you should as this will be the last (two) game(s) we will play this year.

Note I haven't watched all year and won't be watching now.

If you go in with very low expectations, this team can be fun to watch at times. If you ever start finding some hope for this team, stop. Any hope gained will be crushed brutally. Even more so than most VT teams.

This is the way.....

Sometimes we live no particular way but our own

TV Teddy getting his reps in early in the GT / Duke game.

26-12 Georgia Tech is entertaining. Doubt it will last though

it isn't... its an early game, and this is Duke's first of the tournament.... Watch them go on a 20-0 run to start the 2nd half now that they are warmed up.

Yep 26-12 now is 31-26....Georgia Tech going to get their doors blown off in second half

and Flagg goes down with a twisted ankle late. Will be interesting to see if they put him back out there. They're already in the field... no point in risking further injury just to win the conference tournament, imo.

and there goes GT's lead

They don't need Flagg to beat the rest of the ACC.

ESPN announcers just said he's done for the game. And yes, the way the last 10 minutes of game have gone, they dont need him the rest of today.

Duke on 26-7 run right now

now an 11-point lead

This game has been brutal to both sides injury wise. So many bodies hitting the floor

Duke vs UNC in semifinals. Most likely Duke wipes the floor with the Tarholes again

Most likely, but the presence or absence of Flagg might make the difference in that game. Especially if UNC can rain three's like they did against us from 4' beyond the arc.

Another tremendous #GoACC moment:

Tigers found themselves locked out of their locker room at halftime.

Clemson players wound up sitting on the cement floor outside of the locker room while coach Brad Brownell addressed his team.

Eventually the door was unlocked by building security and the Tigers were able to get in.

The ACC added two minutes to halftime as a result.

Whether it was coincidence or not, Clemson did not play well early in the second half, eventually falling behind by 15 after going more than six minutes without a field goal. The Tigers finally got some momentum and cut the lead to two with a furious rally and had a chance to tie before losing 76-73.

Brownell said it's something that has never happened to his Clemson team before.

"No, not at this level," Brownell said. "It's disappointing, obviously."

Meh, when Clemson hoops and Brownell lose, its a good day for all of america.

Duke had a vendetta to settle with Loserville in the ACC title game after Coach Scheyer did not win Coach of the Year in the ACC. Lost to Loserville Coach BuyaTeam oh meant Pat Kelsey.

This sucks, i hate espn so much that I am full on go Duke, I hope they steam roll to the championship, I hope they play UofL in the title game. I am rooting for of UofL, Duke, Houston, St Johns final (I would accept TTU instead of UofL). I hope the ACC, Big 12 and BE give the SEC and Big10 nightmares. I hate you ESPN for making me cheer on Duke, you suck more than duke!

IF there is a god the SEC will be out the first weekend. 14 fucking teams - 1/3 of all at large teams- in a 300 team pool. I hope they all fucking lose the first weekend. Especially buzz- that fucking prick. And scum Chris Beard. I hope they lose spectacularly.
