WBIT Hokies vs NC A&T March 20 at 6 PM

Edited to change time to 6 PM. My tablet converted the time to CA time for me.

The Ladies host the NC A&T Aggies today at 6 PM. We are 18-12, 11-5 at home. The Aggies are 19-11, 7-7 on the road. The Aggies lost SMU by 13 and UNC by 19 early in the season. ESPN gives us 95.5% chance to win. No tables today; I'm visiting my daughter's family in California to attend the middle school play; and I don't have my computer. Doing this on a tablet is challenging.

This is billed as our offense against their defense. We are fourth in the country from three at 38.6%; they are 20th against the three. We shoot 46.8% overall for 13th; their defense is 14th. Might be a little bit of difference in strength of schedule. The Aggies score 64 ppg and allow 55; they shot 29% from three and 41% overall. We score 75.7 ppg and allow 70.1.

The Aggies starting five:

No. 21 Jordyn Dorsey, 5' 9" senior guard. 15.6 points, 4.7 rebounds

No.24 Maleia Bracone, 5' 10" grad guard. 10.4 points, 3.7 rebounds, 34% from three.

No. 25 Paris Locke, 6' 0" soph forward. 10.2 points, 5.8 rebounds.

No.33 Chaniya Clark 6'4" redshirt junior center. 9.9 points, 7.7 rebounds.

No. 12 Aija James 6' 1" grad forward. 7.7 points, 3.5 rebounds. 41% from three.

They have about six or eight players that come in for around ten minutes per game. I have not watched any film; so, I'm guessing they play a high energy defense and substitute frequently to keep everyone fresh.

Just as in every other game recently, if we make our shots and avoid lazy turnovers, this should be a win.

I'll be listening, since my daughter just barely has TV.

LETS GO HOKIES!

Hokies!

3pm, Pacific Time, right?

"When I was growing up, Virginia Tech was a school that was kicking ass and taking names, and it's time we get back to that" - James Franklin

Correct, I am meeting my company in the CRC and we are all going over together. Hopefully we get a couple more in the Cassell this year.

Televised? Where?

ESPN+

Doesn't matter if it's cake or pie as long as it's chocolate.

Interesting, we did the national anthem before NC at even came out to the floor. They finally came out at 8 minutes before tip off.

Can we start over?
0-8 FG
3 turnovers
Rose with 2 fouls
less than 5 minutes in.

I seldom speak to loluva grads, but when I do, I tell them I want large fries.

Looks like we did!!!
7-9 FG
zero turnovers
zero fouls
second 5 minutes of the 1st qtr.
17-13 HOKIES end of the 1st

Nelson needs to start from now on. Love her aggressiveness

I don't know what a Hokie is, but God is one of them!

I gave up trying to find it on TV, i can't get ESPN+ work any of my current plans. Will follow here

Plan for the worst and hope for the best, not the other way around.

You can listen to it by going to hokiesports.com. I also can't seem to get the plus, so I resign myself to listening and it's not all bad. If you have any Disney streaming, you can get it for 11.99 a month.

Reel men fish on Wednesdays

The first few minutes of the game showed why we didn't make the tournament. The rest of the first half showed a team that certainly looked like a NCAA tournament team. Glad they turned it around. Simply started making shots after missing some bunnies to start the game.

It's been two weeks since they played a game. Had to knock the rust off.

Great second quarter. 21-5. HOKIES lead at the half by 20, 38-18.
Hazelton with 3 minutes playing time and a career high 2 rebounds thus far.
Petersen also with a career high in steals with 2 thus far.
Scoring wise... Lani White and Mackenzie Nelson both with 9 points. Baker with 8, Wenzel with 7, Ekh 3, and Leila Wells with 2.
First five minutes of the game our FG% was 0.0%. Finished the half at 41.7% FG and 46.7% (7-15) from three. Leading rebounding at 24-18.
Ended the half with 6 turnovers.

Not sure why we gave them a five minute head start before we started playing. But at least it has been the team I was hoping to see since.

48-26 HOKIES... end of third.

HOKIES win! HOKIES win!
61-45 Final.

According to the broadcast, next game is Sunday at 4 PM. We play the winner of Texas Tech/Wyoming. Was good to see the freshmen get some extended minutes in the 4Q. If CMD can keep this team together, add the incoming class and pick up a transfer or two, this team has a chance to be young and good next year. Plenty to be excited about going forward I think!
