Yep- thats my angle. You go 6-12 in your league you don't belong. Period. I don't care how "tough" the league is supposed to be. That's like going 4-8 in SEC football and getting 10 of the 12 playoff spots. Which might also be coming.

I will admit I am surprised at the effort from McNeese. With the news breaking yesterday that their coach was leaving for NC State, I thought that might effect their effort and play today. But, here they are. Clemson is such a fraud and always is. They are slow. They rely on being able to foul relentlessly without being called for it. If you can get the tempo up and force them to play full court, you run them out of the gym. And they have never been a good shooting team under Brownell. All of that played itself out in that first half.

So I hadn't watched much non-VT basketball this year until the tournament, but it seems to me that the refs are getting way looser about carrying and offensive goaltending at the college level. Anyone else noticed this?

Carrying hasn't been called really for years, but traveling has gotten ridiculous.
Since the invent of the "Eurostep"...which is just a fancy name for a travel, most of the time 3 steps are allowed.
But now 4 steps isn't being called, guys who recieve passes and take several steps before initiating a dribble, and switching pivot feet--are all routinely ignored, it's ts gotten pretty egregious.
Goaltending I haven't noticed as much.
So we've stopped caring about the basic movement rules of the game and traded that in for 7 reviews at the end of the game to add 0.6 secs back on the clock.

If you are going to call a kid stepping on Kyle Guys foot with 2 seconds left in the final four, you HAVE to call the obvious walk on Maryland there. That kid walked big time- you have to call it if you are going to gift UVA a final four game. Be consistent.

For the offensive goaltending it's been mainly on putback dunks that I've noticed it. Like the ball is clearly still in the cylinder but some dude just runs up and flushes it, and only the most obvious ones still get called. Saw one game this weekend where even the commentator was trying to say it should have been legal and the ball was clearly like 30% in the cylinder from the above-the-rim camera lol.

They only call offensive goaltending if the ball is touched while in contact with the rim. Cylinder rule seems to only apply for defensive goaltending now.

I haven't watched much of either tournament but I'm not at all surprised to see every #1 seed advance to the final four in the day of NIL. Three basketball blue bloods + oil money. I'm just happy we didn't end up with an all-SEC final four. As for the women's bracket - elated to see Mulkey get bounced before the final weekend.

The reason these teams are the 4 left standing is because they have mid major veterans from the portal on their teams to compliment their young HS players. Auburn and Florida especially. Get old if you want to win in March

How many SEC teams normally got to the tournament? I mean UK was usually always pretty good. Then they may have had one or two more teams that routinely did well.
All of the sudden half the damn SEC is in the Tournament. When was the last time UGA got to the tourney??? Holy crap.
You know they wanted an all SEC final four.
