Virginia Tech head men's basketball coach Mike Young announced Tuesday the return of Chester Frazier to the Hokies' coaching staff as the program's associate head coach. Frazier, a respected coaching veteran and proven recruiter, rejoins the Hokies after serving as an associate head coach at West Virginia.
"We are thrilled to welcome Chester, his wife, Sarah, and children, Chandler, Cameron and Courtney, back to Blacksburg," Young said. "His passion, energy and tireless work ethic are exactly what we need. Chester has a deep understanding of our program's culture, and his ability to connect with players, recruit at a high level and develop talent will be invaluable as we move forward.
"He has been a winner everywhere he has been. I am fortunate to call Chester a dear friend and am fired up to work alongside him once again."

I always liked Frazier and I'm glad he's coming back. Hopefully he can bring some dudes with him that are interested in immediate playing time.
what?
Yes,
What
I am stoked for this. Frazier is an awesome recruiter and outstanding coach.
We're bak
Finally, some good news for Mens BB. Any insight into why he wasn't brought along to Indiana?
Looks like 2 of WVU players who were closely associated with him also in the Portal....
I would say that IU is a shit show right now, but so is WVU. both have had the university president recieve a vote of no confidence and both just won't leave.
The new president of WVU has already been chosen and starts this year so i don't know what you mean the current president just won't leave.
The vote of no confidence by the faculty and the 2nd by the assembly happened like 18 months ago.
Hope we pursue Hansberry. Big body forward with quick feet and not afraid of contact.
Powell would be a good addition. Very athletic guard with an outside shot.
Head Coach in Waiting? Glad Chester is back.
Good news, what's this, I don't know what to do with this
Seems like a positive development, so I will choose to take this as good news.
Does anyone know why Frazier went from Illinois to WVU? That would seem like a downgrade unless there was an expanded responsibilities, title, etc.
Was Assistant Head Coach at WVU. Also there was apparently some behind the scenes issues at Illinois amongst all of Underwoods staff. There was something that happened that led to Frazier leaving and top recruit Jase Butler requesting release from his letter of intent. Sounded like Underwood chasing guards that would have made Butler sit as a freshman didn't sit right with Frazier or Butler.
Two players followed him from Illinois to WVU and both are in the portal from WVU.
I figured you would be the one with the insight here. appreciate it sir
Going to need his recruiting chops, especially with Buzz Williams headed to UMD.
Two things to keep in mind about Buzz. He is a HUGE ride or die Nike guy. It's a big reason Whit couldn't entertain anything else- might lose Buzz Williams ride or die Nike... He's also a huge Texas guy, and will certainly coach in texas as his dream job. No fucking way he would coach at Maryland at an Under Armour Program. lololololol.

Well crap. I thought it was an April Fool's joke.
This was much needed and enjoyable to learn!
You know had Mike Young just said we're hiring Frazier it would have been way better than his message to hokie nation. Way more exciting.
