My personal favorite would definitely be the week in Jackson Hole. Awesome area. On a more affordable note, volleyball practice (for me) or the swim practices (for my daughter) would be interesting. Wish she had liked VT more when we visited. Was too big and spread out for her. She liked smaller places like Wake Forest the most when we did initial school visits last summer.

VT was very large as a freshman, good sized as a sophomore, not as big as you think as a junior and way to small as a senior. I can't imagine Wake, or really small school like W&L

You know that and I know that, but I don't think she is buying it. Also depends upon the major. Something small like Biochemistry (at least small when I was there) sure got small as time went by. Oh well, we will see what happens.

Churchill Downs experience is eye opening for what you get.

Just got back from a bourbon trail visit to Kentucky Sunday, and stopped by the track for the museum and track tour ($20) while in Louisville. You can add the tour of the stable for another $25. We had hoped there would be a race there, but it's still too early. They start in May with the Derby, but race all summer Tuesday through Saturday, and off and on in the fall, usually 10 or so races in a day. I did not see where it said which day of the week, or if you get to pick. I assume you get to name one of the lower cards. We looked at suite prices before we knew there was not a race that day, as there were 13 of us. They vary a lot depending on the suite, but started pretty reasonably for something that includes food, up to stupid high ones on Millionaire's Row.. The museum is very well done. The paddocks were closed for remodeling, but there was an add on to tour those as well when they are open. Well worth a few hours if you are in the area, though would have loved to have been there for a race.

Sometimes we live no particular way but our own

Maybe in the Travel Thread...but do tell about the bourbon trail...

I can help here too. Fire off a post if you've got specific questions, otherwise I'll post a novel.
