Spring Game 2025:

Not sure how many of y'all planned on going tomorrow, but just so nobody's surprised like we were (and especially if you plan on bringing the kids), apparently there will be no Hokie Village for the kids tomorrow.

As well, the East Stands/East Concourse and Concessions will be closed; seating will be limited to the NEZ, bottom bowl of the SEZ, and West Stands.

With them charging this year for the tickets, as well as parking passes for certain lots, we were a bit shocked. Especially with the fact that there won't be a Hokie Village experience this year. There are probably people coming, like us, who have no idea.

So...Charmin?

uva - the taint of the ACC
Callused perineum is a symptom of being a uva fan

We were just prepping for the end of the season, in case both QB's go down again....

Sometimes we live no particular way but our own

Looking like a UVA home game

Didn't get #13 Softball or #25 Baseball broadcasts for this.

Did get to watch Hokies Lacrosse upset #11 Syracuse as only broadcasted Hokie sports today.

there are pics posted elsewhere (paywall). not great but better than Andy's pic

I actually seriously wonder if the staff is limiting Frank's presence around the team during practices/scrimmages as a precaution for the South Carolina game. I know Frank's a Hokie, but he also loves his son. I'm sure the Beamers have plenty of moles in Blacksburg to pass along info.

But seriously, lame Spring Game and we probably should just not do them anymore if this is the result. That crowd isn't worth it. Just have a full closed door scrimmage and be done with spring practice.

I don't agree with this take, we should make it an event instead of an after thought. VT should have had a fan zone open this morning with breakfast foods then a 12pm softball game, 3pm spring game, 6 pm baseball game, sell one ticket to all 3 and the fan zone and have dinner voucher for the baseball game or a place to pick it up on the way to the baseball game. Have VT take care of the day and get fans there. Make this a big weekend for hokie fans. Have Mike Young doing fan things, same with other coaches. This is hype season.

Baseball and softball ended up as doubleheaders and none of the four games were broadcast. Should have had both start Game 2 at 6pm so they could be broadcast and seats full from Spring Game.

I wholeheartedly agree. The idea of not having all out fan engagement for the spring game (including televising the game) is just completely stupid in my opinion. We are not in the upper echelon of football, I.E., we are not Ohio State trying to save small secrets from being exposed to Michigan. We would be much better served to go all out for the fan experience and make a drive for donations while we are at it.

My wife takes the kids and leaves the house while I watch my Hokie games.........nuff said

Even if you have secrets, here is an idea...don't display them at Spring Game.

This.
Build it. Need to get a good event coordinator. Promote it.
Combine it with a chilli/bbq/chicken cook off and massive tailgating with sponsors and the various fermentation departments. AG and Food Science coordination event. Easter Bunny/Earth Day spring celebration Easter egg hunt/plant sale.
The scholastic teams, solar car, Astrobotics, Bolt, Student Launch, Orbital Launch vehicle, etc
Student designed hats, shirts, flags, etc.
Club sports out for demos/recruiting events.

This is going to be great for the ACC.

+1 more.

As a student, spring game was one of my three favorite weekends each year (Labor Day and Halloween being the other two).

As an alum, I've returned more for the spring game than any other occasion.

Finally, from a fan engagement standpoint, this is an opportunity to engage with fans who you rarely get to engage with on a typical football weekend.

I don't know, I mean I remember the spring game fondly as a student. It was fun to get a glimpse of the team and some football right before finals and tailgating practice.

But I don't think the program was good then because the spring game and fan engagement was better. I think we played good football then and people took the opportunity to absorb any and everything VT football. Spring game attendance was crazy because of the hype/expectations for the program each year. Now we have been pretty abysmal for so long, and the interest and fan attendance is starting to drop off. Now only your diehards are going to this and investing time on an April Saturday for it. Couple that with coaches being paranoid about poaching and getting film out, and what's the point anymore?

Do we want a fun spring football game and golly shucks comments from coaches to be .500 each year? Or do we want to fully embrace this NFL model and let the coaches coach and try to win all the games they can? I'd frankly rather them just have a full blown closed doors scrimmage that will help development and evaluation for the season more than a vanilla dress rehearsal.

I hate it too what college football has become, but I think us turning into a winning program would help with fan engagement and interest 10x more. Not the other way around. We have tried that with Pry and so far we still aren't winning.

Any info on how we looked?

Defense won 50-21. Not surprising as both Drones and Pop were out.

QB Kelden Ryan had a fumbled snap that was scoop and scored.

Lovett out muscled Wiggins for a pick and took it to the house.

Offense scored off of a Ayden Green reverse TD pass to Cam Seldon.

QBs (all freshmen) finished 11-23 for 130 yards and 2 TDs; one was Belfort to Greene, the other was Brand rushing for one.

Braydon Bennett ran the ball well, 74 yards on 11 carries. Hawkins had 45 yards on 14 carries, and Mason had 42 yards on 8. That put the RBs at 4.88 ypc.

Never Forget #1 Overall Seed UVA 54, #64 UMBC 74

Sounds like we have a strong three win team! /s
