Could be good long term, but unless Etienne gets hurt, or they go full committee, he's not gonna see the field much this fall. Woulda loved to see him go to Washington to replace Ekeler.

I don't see them trading him now. Etienne can be a game changer, but he is injury prone.
Tuten has a thicker body to absorb the impacts. Hes gonna get some playing time. its gonna be interesting.

Had 13 fumbles in 4 years. 9 in the last two. Only two were lost fumbles. Fumbles were 1 in every 40 touches. Comparison...
Jeanty had same number in last two years and had games with more than one but more carries. No one said anything about Jeanty fumble issues.
If Tuten had a halfway decent line, his yardage would have been so much higher and it wouldn't even have been a talking point.

I am a big Tuten fan. I was also big on Daren Evans. My all time favorite VT RB would have to be Ryan Williams. That guy's vision and cut ability would literally make me gasp in amazement at least once or twice per game.

Daren Evans into Ryan Williams into David Wilson was a WILD run of RB talent. It was such a bummer that Williams and Wilson had their NFL careers derailed by injury. They were so good.

Suggs was the best find the hole back we've had but Ryan Williams and KJ were so much more athletic. Suggs was just a different era RB and was fantastic at it. But I loved watching Ryan Williams play. It's hard to say he was better but his highlights were way more exciting.
KJ was just different, one of his first TDs it looked like he was jogging and still breaking away.

If we're doing this, I will be a broken record and insist Branden Ore doesn't get mentioned sooner in these convos only because he got booted out of school, loved watching him run. Guy was talent and athleticism and followed his blockers with a hand on their back.

good god I forgot about Ore, he was money too. He coulda been a contendah. Deceptively fast, and wasn't afraid to give you a lil forearm shiver or something similar.
and he shoulda had like 35 carries in the Orange Bowl against Kansas

Ore is definitely my A-tier right behind the Williams, KJ, Suggs S-tier. I would put Herbert with Ore on that tier.
I struggle with Tuten and Wilsom the most. Tuten is probably an S-tier back, but we didn't use him that way and I sont think that's on him. Wilson was a playmaker but his running back skills were lower than the rest, he just made up for it with pure athletism.

I have an amazing Vaughn Hebron story I can't tell here. It involved a prank call and tense moment between cadets and several large football players in the hallway of Rasche.

Honestly, APR going in the 6th round to play in Philly, and potentially being able to line up next to Jalen Carter and Jordan Davis going forward has the potential to be a huge steal.
I was really hoping Tuten would be able to fall to the Eagles at some point. Behind that OL and backing up Barkley, he would absolutely feast. In Jax.... there might be issues well beyond things he can control.

Today was rookie mini camp open to season ticket holders. Tuten looked good out there doing drills. Ran ball well, caught passes. Fans around me seemed interested in what he could bring to the team. He got number 33 down here also.

Before Skattebo is really impressive
Best of luck to him.

Congrats, and best of luck!
See you on Sundays!
Happy for him, sucks he got stuck on the Jags tho
Weakest division to step up and win games in!

I agree, not an ideal spot. Bigsby and Etienne are going to take 80% of the work and it was already a full RB room there.
Unless they trade Etienne.
He hasn't been able to stay healthy the past 2 seasons.
I don't see them trading him now. Etienne can be a game changer, but he is injury prone.

Etienne also only averaged 1100 total yards and 5 TDs in the 3 years he's been healthy.
This is his make or break year after the Jags took up his option, doubling his salary to 6 mil this year.
They should be able to get that kind of production from Tuten at a fraction of the cost.
wouldn't surprise me if they try to move on from Etienne
I'll be watching the Jaguars as often as possible. Congrats Toot!!!
I keep hearing people (Mel Kiper and the lot) talking about a "fumbling problem". No idea what they're talking about...

Bad mesh points on a read option get credited to him as fumbling a handoff too.
Jeanty will be avearge to decent in nfl. Tuten will be Peterson/Sanders/Jackson elite; you heard it here first!

My guy Suggs was better than all of them.
This...him and KJ
Thunder and Lightning
Unfortunately two more that the injury bug cut short
Kevin Jones was so underrated through his whole career.
Criminal how KJ was used. We could have been much more creative with him and Ryan Williams out of the backfield- both could catch it.
100%. Suggs was the man.
Suggs was the best find the hole back we've had but Ryan Williams and KJ were so much more athletic. Suggs was just a different era RB and was fantastic at it. But I loved watching Ryan Williams play. It's hard to say he was better but his highlights were way more exciting.

Ehhhh....it's a push between Suggs and RMFW. KJ is right there too. But yes, give me Suggs head and shoulders above Evans and Wilson

Was he the one who absolutely trucked a NC State LB?
Probably, but you could also be thinking of Darren Evans absolutely crushing a Maryland LB on a Thursday night.
Damn we had an incredible string of RBs
And yes it was
I remember the sounds of the pads hitting on that one.
Going over these reminds me of just how much I enjoyed Tuten this year.
Evans is another one I have never seen a Hokies card of. Him and David Wilson both.
That was my man Williams.
Don't forget when our TE did it.
Twice
Not a run but...
Thrice
This one and the Myles Jack blow up are the 2 I remember most fondly.
I never laughed so hard in my life at that
Ryan Williams literally pulled a NC State defender for 10 yards along the ground, scoring a touchdown.
That was a fun one, surprised it took so many comments to get to bring that one up

No love for Cyrus Lawrence anywhere in this debate?
Wasn't Cyrus Lawrence the top choice of VT running back coach Billy Hite?
Cyrus Lawrence was a he'll of a back. Billy Hite could get running backs
Yep. We older Hokies rememer him well.
Also shocked by the lack of love for Shyrone Stith
Also no love for old school running backs....Vaughn Hebron was the man before any of these other running backs.
Never found one of him in a Hokies uniform
I have an amazing Vaughn Hebron story I can't tell here. It involved a prank call and tense moment between cadets and several large football players in the hallway of Rasche.
Can confirm. Hell of a story.
How about Tony Paige?
DeMatha's own and friend of my older siblings. Great great guy. Funny .
R.I.P.
Sorry was just keeping it to this century, Cyrus is probably S-tier i just never saw him play.
Ore doesn't have any cards so photo is all I have
You know, not real exciting but still fun to watch and you know he was always going to get positive yards was Cedric Humes
Y'all keep forgetting about John Candelas.
Outside of Herbert, he would have been Fuente's best running back
Dustin Pickle for Heisman!
Blacksburg's own John Candelas.
What, no love for Touchdown Tommy Edwards?
Dudes can sit around just naming old Hokie running backs and have the best time.
Years from now, it is my hope that Bhayshul Tuten is considered to be the steal of this draft class.
Honestly, APR going in the 6th round to play in Philly, and potentially being able to line up next to Jalen Carter and Jordan Davis going forward has the potential to be a huge steal.
