Who does everyone think is getting drafted? Do any Hokies sneak into the top rounds?

The names I have seen on the most boards as the top Hokies are Strong and Lane with Tuten lurking.
Watch out for D.Strong ๐ด#ThisIsHome | #NFLDraft | @Dstrong_25 pic.twitter.com/0OACa78xYVโ Virginia Tech Football (@HokiesFB) April 23, 2025
Peebles seems to be getting late 4th to early 6th vibes. APR is mainly 5th and 6th rounds.
Felton, Jennings, Moore and Schlee have been mentioned on some 7th round boards.
Others available are Fuga, Jones, S Gosnell, Kaden Moore, Clements (scoffs), Nelson, Pene, and Jenkins
What's the feeling?
The Draft starts today ๐Good luck to our guys this weekend ๐๐ฆ#ThisIsHome | #TeamOverMe pic.twitter.com/xiDjdTFDcyโ Virginia Tech Football (@HokiesFB) April 24, 2025

I just want a Hokie in Duval!
Wow we just bet the house on Hunter. Gave up so much.
I hate that the browns got the capital
It's ok, they'll draft 7 QB's and all of them will be busts.
Shaduer falling right into our lap at 33. I was hoping the Browns would trade down. Browns have so many needs and draft terribly, so the more chances to get it right, the better!
He's an intriguing prospect.. he's tough and accurate- that could go a long way... Flip side, his arm and speed are average, which will be exposed at the next level. I'd say top end he's a Drew Brees with the right coach and work ethic. Bottom end, he's Chase Daniel.
I agree, it sucks the Browns are so QB needy, but they did it to themselves. There are a great players at other positions of need either now and we will have to take a risk on a QB prospect here because of how bad the situation has become.
EDIT: Additional thoughts, I hope the Browns grab either the WR Burden or the DE Green at 33 and roll the dice that the Saints won't trade up in front of the 36th for the Browns to take Sanders.
Saw this and just about gagged...
I have no idea what the Browns are doing, none of those day 2 picks seemed to be best player OR best fit based on who was available. Why take tiny little Dillion Gabriel who has almost no chance to making it in the league with Sanders still available. Sanders at least has potential to be a starter.
They see next years class as where they get a franchise QB from.
Sure, but why take Gabriel over Sanders? Sanders at least looks like he's had starter potential, Gabriel is too small and doesn't look like he will become the next Kyler Murray.
They are taking him as a backup.
Taking backups in the 3rd is dumb, then the Browns give away the all their 6&7 rd picks to move up in the 5th to take Sanders? They could have taken Sanders at 94, Sampson at 124, and then probably still had a shot at Gabriel, who was on most boards as 7-9 best QB, in the 6th and still had 2 remaining picks. In a deep WR draft and a position of need, the Browns took zero. Also failed to take any OL, late rounds picks are great chances to take some big bodies. I liked the trade back, but it looks like the Browns didn't have a plan after the 1st day.
Yeah don't understand the rationale here at all.
I was gonna give them credit because I thought they got a good haul from the Jags for moving up 3 spots.
Then they had to go all Cleveland on us.
I can't imagine they keep Gabriel and Sanders so they clearly squandered either a 3rd or a 5th rounder pointlessly.
Yep- roughly the same compensation the Broncos gave up for John Elway. I know times have changed, but Hunter better be great- end of the day he is a not huge WR that likely won't play both ways in the NFL. I know he "wants" to but the Jags have millions riding on him staying healthy. Not easy to do in that league.
Falcons tired of waiting outside the House of Pass Rush, decided to pay double price to the bouncer to be let in. Like the picks, but not happy they gave up next year's #32 pick to move up.
The draft was apparently last night. Huh. Glad to see my Packers got a WR.
just the first round
Saw a mock a couple days ago with my Vikings taking Jaylin Lane in later rounds. Would be a cool situation for him since Nailor is likely to be paid elsewhere if he produces again as a 3rd WR in the coming season. That gives Lane a potential 3rd WR spot in a pass happy team with a QB whisperer coach, as early as 2026, without taking potential injuries into account.
Getting to point in draft of Hokies highest predictions
Calling it....Lane here to the Saints.
Seeing Shedeur Free Fallin is leading to so many memes online
Or the President of the United States calling out all 32 NFL owners by tweet for not drafting him
And that's before the second and third rounds lol
Who?
At this point (end of 4th round) Is it possible he goes undrafted? I mean everybody that needs a quarterback has already taken one.....
Legendary indeed either way lol.
Nevermind.
Browns got him like it was always their plan
After they took another QB.
Just saw a video of someone prank calling him as the Saints when they were on the clock. I normally find him pretty obnoxious but that had me feeling bad for him lol.
He was like "I've been waiting for you" and the prank caller was like "Yeah you're gonna have to wait some more" ๐
That sucked.
Well Coach Moore just got another linemen drafted
Milum going to Jacksonville
See you tomorrow...hope we hear them early and often
So someone from uva and w&m was drafted before a Hokie. WAKE UP WHIT!
It's clear we need to hire Tony elliott AND Mike London to coach us
Toot toot Tuten off the board
2nd pick of 4th Round by Jacksonville
Love that he's gonna be a Jag, but he'll probably play sparingly unless Etienne gets hurt. Though Etienne is in the last year of his contract and hasn't been reliable, so could be indication he's the long term replacement.
Call it my o&m glasses but he's a top 3 RB this class and it's a steal for the jags. I bet he goes on to have one of the better nfl careers we've seen in recent years
I tend to agree with French here: put him behind those late-era Vance Vice lines, and hes putting up Jeanty numbers. I mean, just stop: Tuten put up a thousand yard season with an injury and a barely mids (arguably worse) g5 calibur oline. I put him up there with KJ and Wilson when it comes to top VT backs of all time.
He shattered the single game yardage record behind that OL.
Put him behind that 1999, 2011, or 2013 OLs and he'd be our first 2,000 yard rusher
Yeah I think the nfl has missed entirely on how bad our OL was. Further reinforced by a team taking Clements on a udfa deal.
Lane to Washington
Kinda surprised APR is still on the board!
back to back
Now into gravy territory after the top 5 are off the board
Felton, Jennings, Moore hoping to be flyers now
got some good coverage on the APR and Peebles picks. O am not sure Felton sneaks into the 7th with the WR that are still on the board
He's the prototyping 7th round pick, big, fast athletic skill players than can compete for a spot and might have something to offer more than what's on his college tape.
In probably the most surprising hokie news of the draft the Raiders signed Parker Clements to an udfa deal. Must have only watched his tape from freshman year in more amazed by nfl scouts every year.
Mind boggling
I might declare for the draft next year just for fun. At 32 I'd be median age and if they're taking Parker I've got a chance with my most recent football experience of "watching football"
Just saw this and had to put the phone down for a couple minutes
I mean I've seen fliers on udfas before but my god
Fuga to Chargers as UDFA
Felton to Giants
Stephen Gosnell to Bills
Pene to Patriots
Still pending are
Jennings, Moore, Schlee, Jones, Kaden Moore, Nelson, and Jenkins
So, this year VT has 5 drafted players and, so far, 5 UDFA players. This seems significant. Is it? Am I reading too much into these numbers?
Because right now, I'm asking myself:
What did we do with all this talent?
I know the record, 6-7. And I know we just replaced both our OC and DC, with the OC going elsewhere for more $ and our DC removed and replaced. This picture confuses me.
We seem to be giving more players REAL opportunity in the NFL, but we cant have a winning season.
"Am I taking crazy pills!?!?!"
And now, Schlee makes it 6 UDFA players.
Same questions.....
7 UDFA so far
We lost a game due to two players wearing the same number. Marve couldn't adjust, Pry doesn't understand what an HC does game day, and Bowen who actually game planned and could adjust would just forget his freak of an athlete RB existed for long stretches. Our safeties play 15 yards out of position, our LBs don't understand you have to run to the ball, and our oline likes to injury our QB themselves. It's a dumpster fire of a shit show where the only coaches I felt good about are Price and Mines. We had talent that our staff had no clue what to do with. How do you have 2 AA Dline, a drafted DB and another that will be drafted next year and players like we did. Bud Foster would have had that group as a top 10 defense. Last time he had a single AA on the DLine he had the #1 defense, last time he had 2 we played for the title. I dont expect us to hire the next Bud, but still we should have been better than what we saw.
We had a major talent drain this off season, its going to be a rough year which sucks because I really like Siefkes and Montgomery highers if they were the initial hires. I like Brent Davis taking over TEs. I like Ferguson as the S&C coach. And Xavier as LBs coach is fantastic. But we're looking at 4-8 with Pry having the 2nd worst coaching record at VT in the AP era.
Part of it is the majority of the draftees are skill position players. A team loaded with skill positions won't do well without some talent on the lines. So we go as the lines go. With a new OC and OL coach (and a fresh infusion of OL talent), I have some basis for optimism, but now I'm wondering what the skill position talent looks like with so much of it gone to the NFL.
Jenkins to Buffalo
Wow! And now it's 7 UDFA players. I'm happy for all of them!
Schlee to Commanders
Jaylen Jones to Chargers
And.... 8. Wow, again!!
Still pending are
Jennings, Moore, Kaden Moore, and Nelson
These numbers seem seriously sellable for recruiting. I know we didn't get any on the 1st 3 rounds, but still.
Kaden Moore to Titans
Peter Moore on an invite to Colts but not signed
Nelson got an invite to Chicago
That's 16 new Hokies in NFL camps this year.
Leaves Ali Jennings as the odd man out.
Man if rumors of NIL allotment are true, we might know why we have had portal problems
No surprises here but Draft by Conference
$EC = 79
BIG = 71
58% of the draft from P2. $EC more than ACC/B12 combined. BIG just short of the same.
ACC = 42
B12 = 31
Independent = 7 ND had 6
MW = 6
AAC = 6
MAC = 4
Big Sky = 3
MV = 2
CUSA = 1
Pac2 = 1
SunBelt = 1
UA = 1
SWAC = 1
CAA = 1
Hokies had second most picks in ACC behind Miami.
ACC (42)
Miami โ 7
Virginia Tech โ 5
California โ 4
Syracuse โ 4
Clemson โ 3
Pittsburgh โ 3
Boston College โ 3
SMU โ 2
Georgia Tech โ 2
Louisville โ 3
Florida State โ 2
Virginia โ 1
North Carolina โ 1
NC State โ 1
Stanford โ 1
With that talent certainly we finished towards the top of the ACC, right? Right???
With 5 Hokies drafted, we tied for 13th for schools with most players drafted. Only Miami and Notre Dame the only non-SEC or B1G schools ahead of us.
Unbelievable, we could only manage 6-6...
Also those conferences now have like 36 schools between them. Not terribly shocking and they still have a higher proportion of picks then other conferences. Most Big12 selections came from Texas and Oklahoma and they now are SEC so even higher skew.
Jennings invited to Green Bay makes it a clean sweep
It's official, we're like the Al Groh UVA teams, we put talent in the NFL but can't win games
By that metric, we are also Miami.
We need more early round picks to win games. Most of these guys are 6-7th round picks and UDFA's unlikely to make rosters. Next step is a few more picks in rounds 1-4.
Ding ding ding. Winner winner.

Shit Ass Coaching
Just saw on tweeter that the Raiders picked up Parker Clements ๐
Yeah all Hokies not drafted got here UDFA signing or Invite to mini camp
What do the Raiders see?
their fans have been asking this question for more than 20 years
Yep, it was a rhetorical question.
If Clements actually signs and makes a 53 man roster in the nfl, then yes... anything is possible. Drones will probably make him pay for his reconstructive ankle surgery though
