I have no idea what this team will actually do and anything seems possible. They are talented enough to sweep their way through the tournament, and inconsistent enough to get bounced in the first game. What I think will happen is we get through games 1 and 2, and then the conditioning problem that I highlighted a couple weeks ago will show up and we'll get absolutely throat-punched in game 3 because we have no gas left.

I had the game on computer and was otherwise engaged. Missed most of our scores, but was happy to see that we advanced. Next? Who the hell knows with this team.

Home and set up to record. Will watch later to avoid repetitive commercials while I celebrate graduation day from PT after my recent knee replacement. Hope there's more to celebrate, but I have learned to temper expectations for us this year.

Thanks. Yeah, I'm 3 1/2 months post op and am pretty happy with the recovery. I was uncomfortable about it all because I didn't know what to actually expect and how we'd deal with things, but all went well and if I have to do the other one (likely) I'm familiar with the deal.

Really hoping for a win today so I can watch the game tomorrow with my dad in Durham. Haven't really had a chance to watch much baseball this year. Anybody know how we match up against Clemson?

Speaking of the SEC, just saw the latest rumor of straight seeding for the college football playoffs. The potential for 4 SEC teams getting a first round bye just got real.

Why would they do that to diminish their chances of a trophy? They are sticking with 12 teams - 8 auto bids for the Big SEC, 2 auto bids for the B12 & ACC, 1 bid for the highest ranking G5, and then one more wild card (likely to a 6-6 Big SEC team).

When you have half of the playoff field, you get 1. Much more money- bingo.. 2. a better chance at a championship than if you have one team in. Odds are strongly that a B1G or SEC team would win if they make up literally half the bracket.

Unrelated but I'm watching the AUB/A&M game and just watched Auburn get called for an obstruction sliding in to second, triggering and automatic double-play. I understand why the rule is there, but man does this kill the traditionalist in me wanting to see runners go hard into their slide and not get penalized for it.

Hokies beat Stanford 7-4. Face Clemson tomorrow at 1pm.
And I was coming here to ask if we had been bounced already
Maybe they'll pull the BB team move and win the tournament.

I realized that the game is happening out my window at work - may have to go sit on that side of the office and watch a bit
Game will be on ACC Network for those at home. 1pm

Hope your knee is in good shape and that the recovery has been smooth.

The back of our bullpen has been baaaaaddd- espeically against good teams. We can beat Clemson if we are up 8-0 after 6.
Ah, so the collegiate version of the 2025 Cubs. I'm very familiar with that style of game.
Game has been pushed back to 2pm
ESPN app now shows 2pm start.
Hokiesports says 2:15.
Leadoff homer for the good guys, good start.
Double, single, and wild pitch gives it right back.
And 2 run shot to make it 3-1 Clemson, still batting bottom 1.
Going to top of 3, still 3-1 Clemson.
6-1 Clemson going into the 7th
Well dang it. 6-1 final Clemson. As is usually the case for VT sports, I'm disappointed, but not surprised.
Fuck
Disappointed but not surprised at all. We're going to have to seriously bribe someone(s) for the last at-large bid for the NCAA tournament
No shot even with a huge bribe
This isn't SEC basketball where literally every team got in the dance. They aint taking 14 ACC teams
Speaking of the SEC, just saw the latest rumor of straight seeding for the college football playoffs. The potential for 4 SEC teams getting a first round bye just got real.
They are 100% paving the way for a 16 team format with 8 auto bids to the SEC and B1G.

I'm saying why have one half of the playoff when you could have 2/3.

Spikes up Ty Cobb!
Dude is rolling in his grave right now with the current rules. Rose too.
